I face palmed hard. mine is "the Hawk" in my native language, and add to that that i love Band of the hawks in Berserk, so i picked it to be unique and still cool when translated :3.

My taru Marmite is named after the yummy sandwich spread in England. I've heard it means couldren or something in French. I also had Chikorita and Hamtaro for mules <.< I like when it snows at nights.

My original name was based off Celes Chere from FFVI. When I returned, I wanted someone similar, so Celene it was! Celene is also a spin off of selene (Goddess of the moon), just spelt with a c instead of an s. :3
I made a taru, and i liked to have names that fit with the naming themes of the races, and Irohuro sounded like a taru name.

"Seif" Then I made a character named "Lorddeath" based on an actual Death Lord, one who brings death. (original right?) You kill so many things in FFXI it just seemed like a semi-decent name. Finally I did "Raborn" which has a double meaning Ra(Re) - Egyptian giver of life and god of the sun, the most powerful of all the gods. born - to come into conception. So in short God of gods conceived into the world. But its also part of my name so I figured it works. Katniss Everdeen of the Hunger Games Trilogy =)
My Original name when I first started FFXI in '04 I got from randomly flipping through an anime mag to a page and pointing with my eyes closed! Thus Ves was born!
The name I have now is a alteration to the Irish name Aisling, I didn't like the G lol. Aisling Means Dreamer. My ex's name was Aislin. Where do you live? :o
Original name when I started was Jizum (because I am terrible at making up names, and I found it humerous) alas SE has no sense of humor. It only took them 3 years to find me and make me change it. Aiburn comes from combining 2 great friends who also play. Ainutari, and Burntember.

Zaknafein is a character from R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf Trilogies. All excellent books, and Zak is a bad MF!
I hit the random name generator a few times, thought kunimatsu was decent (was a bit of a japanophile back then) and rolled with it.
Ashido is a variation of my IRC Administrator name (OOOH YEAH BACK IN TEH DAYZ!) .
Contrary to common belief i stole it from Bleach Mine is also out of the DragonLance book series, derived from the Silvanesti Elves. I thought they were awesomeness.
