»While this is true for speed, it's also WAY more expensive in gil, because those 15s are each 40k and use the most expensive spheres. It will add up quickly. If you only do this pattern and never break or HQ, you'd spend 111,000,000 in just t3 catalysts, plus 22m in t2 catalysts.
So I was trying to find the master escutcheon thread, settled on the old convos and I noticed this.
This is wrong lol. T1 sphere (300 gil) -> t1 sphere (300 gil) -> t2 sphere (8000 gil) -> T3 sphere (40000 gil)
Anyways, I finished my shields, a couple observations along the way.
For the first 3 stages, I did my crafter point synthing in garden with ionis. I figured the success rate increase would be worth it, it wasnt. While there was a decrease in break rate which gave me better CP/synth numbers, it was also an annoying run back and forth from garden to guild every 20ish minutes. I also couldnt stock up my inventory as much with mats/crystals since I needed ~50 empty spots to fill up on non-stackable sets, whereas at the guild I could turn in as I craft them. I only have two exact comparables:
Wood Set 74 @ 116 skill
Ionis = 167 synths, 1 brk 0.6%, 129 NQ 77.25%, 24 HQ1 14.37%, 9 HQ2, 5.39%, 4 HQ3 2.4%, 9794 CP total = 58.65CP/synth
Guild = 581 synths, 13 brk 2.24%, 412 NQ 70.91%, 95 HQ1 16.35%, 43 HQ2 7.4%, 18 HQ3 3.1%, 32597 CP total = 56.1CP/synth
Alch Set 90 @ 116 skill
Ionis = 210 synths, 4 brk 1.9%, 183 NQ 87.14%, 13 HQ1 6.19%, 10 HQ2 4.76%, 13918 CP total = 66.28CP/synth
Guild = 819 synths, 25 brk 3.05%, 718 NQ 87.67%, 36 HQ1 4.40%, 40 HQ2 4.88%, 53131 CP total = 64.87CP/synth
I didnt put stall back after breaking down cards and I only realized I screwed myself out of T2 after I was finished
I have other comparables, but I did swap my rings to Orvail +1 to maximize my return, so they wont be properly equal:
Gold Set 80 @ various skill (always T2)
Ionis with Craftmaster&Confec = 462 synths, 5 brk 1.08%, 338 NQ 73.16%. 89 HQ1 19.26%, 21 HQ2 4.55%, 9 HQ3 1.95%, 29966 CP total = 64.86CP/synth
Garden with Orvail+1&Confec = 993 synths, 35 brk 3.52%, 694 NQ 69.89%, 187 HQ1 18.83%, 45 HQ2 4.53%, 32 HQ3 3.22%, 63768 CP total = 64.22CP/synth
Leather Set 95 @ Various skill (Always T1)
Ionis w CM&Conf = 526 Syn, 3 brk 0.57%, 473 NQ 89.92%, 31 HQ1 5.89%, 19 HQ2 3.61%, 36582 CP total, 68.55CP/synth
Guild w Ov+1&Conf = 190syn, 11 brk 5.79%, 161 NQ 84.74%, 12 HQ1 6.32%, 6 HQ2 3.16%, 12572 CP total, 66.17CP/synth
While it is more efficient to synth with Ionis, you're not gaining all that much.
Having said all that, I think an argument can be made that you'd get better mileage synthing T1 sets in the guild using Macaron's to lower break rate, since the HQ rate is already low and its the breaks that will hurt your CP/synth numbers most. I just dont have any data to support that theory.
As far as breaking down my thousands of cards, this data is 99.99% accurate. Packet loss and disconnects do happen unfortunately.
Formula to *** card value: =(((NQ+HQ1)*3)+((HQ2+HQ3)*15))/TotalCards. How did I come to these numbers? Easy, it relates to what I opened this post with. T1 (no sc, 1 point) -> T1 (lv2 SC, 5 points) -> T2 (lv3 SC, 15 points) -> T3 (lv3 SC, 15 points). Both T1 orbs are worth (1+5)/2, so 3 points, T2 and T3 orbs are worth 15 each. I didnt factor in breaks or HQ on the focuser, its just an estimate value.

The break/NQ/HQ results look the same percentage wise because I'm comparing them to total synths, not cards used. If I compared those numbers to starting card count, they would look better. With breaks occurring 50% of the time, the decrease material loss on the shield is putting in work.
Ionis, Rusk, Orvail+1, Confectioner, MH:Desynthesis, 116 skill, Escutcheon with enhancement
I'm very confused about these results. The fact I was making NQ results suggests that the enhancement doesnt work, and yet there is a decent shift in results. Could just be sample size issues. Either way, it costed me nothing to use the shield and pop the enhancement to get some data.
