Just did SSRvII, mostly just exploring. MNK/war, THF/blm lol, WHM/sch Followed Marduk path of normal SSR.
1st Floor, all ramparts that spawned Qiqirn, Doomed, or Imps from what we killed. Where Hammertime would spawn there is instead 4 ramparts. We killed all 4 and in the next room where you would instead go left to start heading up to next floor, on the right was another rampart that spawned a Qiqirn NM. It dropped a Plan of Primacy. Not sure if required to kill those 4 ramparts to spawn NM rampart :/
2nd Floor, more ramparts, all spawning Ashu Talif Crew. Following normal Marduk path again before you get to the room that normally had the two imps, there is a rampart against the far wall, it spawns a Fomor NM. Not sure what he drops :/ skipped it thinking more talif crew and went to imp room where 6 total ramparts. Came back to that rampart in teh room before and got it to about 30% before timing out.
Didn't get far but was just exploring~ Was fun, PLD fomor were *** though lol. Probably try to find some more people to go with us in the future for these zones.

That's the problem. When you are 15/15 NNI and waiting on the salvage update for something to do you are left with idling in Jeuno if you "Don't like the new gear and don't do the content."
Heck I took a 16 month break, came back last month and in one more NNI piece all I will have to do is grind out more relics and emps because I'll be gear capped. The rest of my linkshell is bored. They have everything. This just isn't enough for people who were expecting another version of salvage v. 1.

-_- No. What I'm saying is people are raging too hard over this stuff, when quite a few of these new gears have some use.
You're being dense one way or another. The problem is not that the gear is completely useless, it's that it's only marginally useful at best.
How much do those feet change builds for SAM? You get to knock out 4 STP in another slot. Okay... How much does that change your build? You can knock out Misuuchi or Tyrant's for Atheling/Letalis or Mars? You could trade your Domaru for Tenryu +1? How much are you actually gaining by that? And that's arguably the best melee item to come out of Salvage this update in that it's an upgrade for SAM, NIN, and (evidently) PUP. Look at the rest of the set. How useful are the other 4 pieces? Head +1 is a <0.5% upgrade for MNK. PUP gets some new legs. Out of 10 pieces, that's basically all you get. I'm supposed to be excited? Not going to happen. Tenryu Hakama +1 owners can swap to Pole/Duplus!

Did BLU get anything out of this -.- Nuking body, revival of Morri body for town gear, alternative physical hands, some Requiescat gear (body/head/legs), maybe some nuking gear if the set bonus was increased.

I'll enjoy it. There are still things to do in the game, some just require a larger LS now unfortunately (Legion/Odin). This isn't anything new with side grades. I didn't expect this gear to be better than NNI myself. Just something new to do.

Best way to show your lack of interest in content and the game's current state, is to cancel subscription. A torch won't get lit under anyone's *** until subscriptions start dropping like flies. The bitching and complaining but still paying to play means there's something keeping your interest... or that you're an addict and they can do as they please because you're not going anywhere.

I feel that it's worth mentioning, I didn't really expect this stuff to be better than NNI/Legion gear because I assume Neo Salvage was designed to be a lot more "clearable" than the former two, but my problem is that a lot of this stuff isn't even as good as some of the AF3+2. That's kind of dumb.

Pretty much what Draylo and Kincard said. This wasn't meant to be the game's Saving Grace. That's what the expansion will (hopefully) be. The amount of useful gear here mirrors previous proportions of useful gear in Limbus, Legion, and Odin v.2. A decent subset of players will go after some of the pieces highlighted in this thread. Others will bide their time till Adoulin.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty excited for the marduk pieces, even if they are only very small upgrades. They're pretty! Gonna reserve judgement a little till I see how easy/hard it is to upgrade stuff, and how much alexandrite drops per run.
Still beats sitting in PJ all day.

edit- my point is you guys should not let this update just pass by like this, this was a giant slap in the face to this game and it's community. we should all be on the OF right now QQing or at the very least somebody needs to email slycer so he can get our opinions across. But since you guys are so happy with these sidegrades I'm sure that will never happen :/

I don't know. I imagine since people will likely be paying $15-20 (or more) for the expansion, they will call for Matsui's head if it ends up just being a few new zones and no solid content. You are free to post on the OF now and call for his head for this update if you like.

Yes, because we dont get angry & ***/moan/complain for pages & pages on a forum that wont effect the content we recieved nor make the game better, we just look for the best out of everything we get and be happy about it. This was an update of a rehashed event, not much to expect looking back at the other rehashes. When the expansion comes, people will actually be disappointed because they have a good reason the have high hopes for it. Then you will see subscrips cancelled or people complaining to the people that will do something. Whining over this is so '05.

Play as a monster will be the next thing of significance that could be a game changer simply because it's competitive and sets people off to doing something. It has alot of potential for mindless fun and potential to be Chocobo Racing II: This isn't quite Mario Kart.

Not sure why you keep saying "sidegrades". A good many of these are upgrades, even over the best pieces of gear currently available. Just small upgrades.
Ffxi isn't like WoW (or other MMO's, tho tbh I haven't played others outside these 2). They don't release huge upgrades every couple months that completely trounce every piece of old gear. Whether it's their philosophy, poor writers in general who just aren't with the curve, or whatever, it's never, ever been that way. Stat inflation sucks, and they'd have to be writing new/harder content like crazy to keep up with it, which they can't/won't do. (Anyone who has played wow would have an idea of how much stat inflation can trivialize old content - even raids that are still equal level but a few patches/several months behind).
I'm not making excuses or saying it's a good system, or even an ideal system to keep their userbase interested, but it really doesn't surprise me at all anymore. For a game that's been dying for quite some time, I don't think it's realistic to hope for amazing updates/tons of new content/gear/etc. I highly doubt they have the dev team to deal with that kind of load anymore, especially with an x-pac slowly looming up.

Honestly I was kinda hoping they'd make it like old salvage where a lot of the pieces are mediocre on their own, but once you wear the set it becomes the best at a certain function. I kinda liked that about the salvage sets. Some of the choices they made are weird though, and make the set bonuses kinda pointless. Like Skadi- they made the legs pretty much a pure RA piece but the head obviously a melee peice still, so you'd pretty much never wear them together.

So nothing for CDC or physical spells...
But im okay with "middle of the way" gear so we can "gear better" for events. Neo-Salvage wasn't supposed to be the second coming of Jesus and I do believe i said that a couple times...but you know "NO.U R RETARTED!" wins that argument. If you are in it strictly for only the gear this should allow you to reorganize your priorities.
But i can make flame worthy stereotypical "look i can use quotation marks" comments too...sorry, im going on a tangent cause certain things are taking forever to download.
