I think RDM is pretty close to GEO's nuking potential, TBH I don't know for sure and it doesn't matter.

If you don't like the description gimp then call it what ever you want. Fact is with the nuke wall nerf and BLM and SCH being above GEO in the MB hierarchy it means GEO doesn't get to MB in magic party setups because there usually are 1 BLM + 1 SCH or 2 SCH present that get priority over GEO.

Carbuncle.Nynja said: »
Yes, GEO is so gimp that SE gave them a bonkers 50% nerf to debuff potency and the playerbase was like "dont care, still best option", so they had to scale it up to an absolutely *** bonkers -95% nerf to debuff potency, and it had a negligible impact on GEO's inclusion in content because the players were like "ok, we will just give ourselves a gorillion defense or give ourselves 95% immunity to debuffs"
The argument that roaming content doesn't play well with GEO's mechanics still stands, regardless of whether you think a potency nerf of up to 95% was a elegant solution or justified.
Omen, Dynamis D, Odyssey, Sortie and Limbus all require roaming.

GEO got hit from every angle and as a result they are in the worst position among the support jobs, with a far margin. The fact that GEO still occasionally gets invites is not prove of GEO being in a good position, it's prove that the support role has way to much weight in FFXI's meta.

Not even close. Rdm can't even do the non magic burst dmg objectives in Omen.

To pivot from a buffed party Magic Burst context to a solo stand alone nuke one to drive that point home is odd... but fine.

Here are some other peoples takes for the scenario that you chose:Omen objective 15k magic damage thread
Asura.Sechs said: »
Geo can totally solo this objective, just use Malaise+Acumen.
BoG+EA that Malaise even if you need be, kinda depends on your gear.

I think the hardest canonic mage job to do this objective with is probably RDM. Best combination for RDM is I would say /SCH with correct weather up, gain-Int and whatever else you feel you might need.
Gonna need really good gear for RDM to hit that solo, but it's possible.

Keep in mind there are trusts you can use to ease up the process, like Star Sybil gives a small amount of Mab. Every bit helps!
According to Sechs RDM could clear omen 15k objective back in 2018.

Lakshmi.Buukki said: »
NIN can do this as well without even malaise, if they pop Innin, Futae, stand behind, and have a good free nuke set (malevolence x2, high mab elsewhere).
Buukki claimed NIN could also clear it in 2018, does that make NIN a more competent nuker than RDM?

Still, to the point I was making above it's not relevant how far apart RDM or GEO nuking is, anything below BLM and SCH nuking potency is usually watching from the sideline.

Geo can hit cap easily in Sortie MB setups, with both sch and blm nuking too. Rdm cannot.

You can dig up examples of Rdm hitting 15k, sure. Doesn't change the fact Rdm is a piss poor nuker compared to geo. I used one anecdotal example with no details. Anecdotal is just that, anecdotal.

Is it normal to hear sound effects in aman trove opening chests even when I have sound effects + music turned off? Or is that just a me thing with my setup? Started happening when they added the ITG thuds. Always startles me

It was added when they reworked trove, and the sound effect works like a <call> in macros in that it ignores your in game sound settings.

A thing that constantly annoys me.

RDM is absolutely inferior, altough "not even close" seems an exxageration? Depends how you want to interpret it.

RDM misses the 2 nuke powering JAs GEO has (meh), the directional buffs (meh) and most of all RDM misses the Geo Bubbles which alone are an insane difference, so if we're comparing GEO solo vs RDM solo, then by all means the difference is absolutely insane.

If we're comparing nuking in a "proper" party then RDM, while clearly behind, is not that bad compared to GEO?
Doesn't have access to Agwu, and Bunzi is clearly an inferior option (but it's there) and then there's Ea+1.
It's not THAT bad overall.
~70 less elemental skill, but given the amount of macc RDM has, resists are not really an issue.
You can also boost your INT by 70 with Gain-Int to compensate for inferior stats.

So yeah, RDM in party is likely behind GEO but it shouldn't be THAT far behind, if you ask me.

Sadly we did 8 boss magic setup with RDM only once and things were overall pretty smooth.
We also did it several times with 3x SCHs (one SCH replacing the BLM) and that was also fine.

Would it be too cynical to say they are added those sound effects to play into the gambling psychology of it, where they are obviously making money from people having aman mules.

So yeah, RDM in party is likely behind GEO but it shouldn't be THAT far behind, if you ask me.

I have Rdm, blm, sch and geo with near bis nuking gear, all high mls. Rdm is very far behind in nuking power.

Rdm has a lot more macc, and can cast more often due to FC. That doesn't help with nuking due to the nuke wall.

Often in MB setups you see Rdm casting first, blm second and sch or geo third. The blm and sch or geo do similar or even more dmg than the Rdm even though their nukes are nerfed, coming after the first nuke.

Not being on agwu hurts Rdm the most Imo, best option they have is jse and EA. Meanwhile sch blm and geo have massive boosts in MB damage from jse, plus agwu on top.

The maths just doesn't math for Rdm nukes, even if you ignore anecdotal evidence.

No way it's been that long, it's been a long *** time since I bought lottery balls though. For that reason. So you can only pick 2 numbers now it seems. Still too many, it should be a key item.

My bad
Seems it was the Nov 2020 revision that dropped it to 2 pearls / 3 digits.

Felt longer, either way. Still 6 years lol

I just forgot, but the 6 numbers I always choose don't line up with any of the winning numbers, so I ended up just saving 1.2m.
