Anyone ever do Aminon Hard Mode with a party leader that doesn't have Stage IV?
Loads of times. Party leader doesn't matter at all.

Anyone know if a campaign battle will start IF there is enemy units already stationed at the fort in question? Trying to complete Campaign ops and have one that requires campaign battles in Northland areas under enemy control. I almost never see campaign battles in those areas and am wondering if I need to go clear out the troops that are stationed there before it's possible for a battle to start.

Anyone having super bad luck with Aminon this year?
My group started doing Aminon in earnest at the start of February.
At that time, we were still going everyday. 8-boss, alternating to Aminon, rinse repeat.
17 days later we had 4 Mesosiderites, and I made my first Stage 5. Over the course of the next month we decided to take weekends off, but still go 5 days a week. This cut our total Aminons down, to 9~10 a month, instead of 14~15.
But our Meso luck was, I guess good? We got 4, then the people in the group who had multiple stage 4s went on to get 4 or so more.
Well, one of our members didn't have a Stage IV yet that entire time, but finally got one towards the middle-end of March.
Then our Bard switched to his second character, also a Bard, to make her at least a Stage IV horn (she's like 600k away as of writing). We continued with Aminon every other run.
But we're heading into the last week of July, and we haven't seen a single Mesosiderite now since mid March!
We've done about 42 Hard mode Aminon kills since he got his Stage IV, and have not seen a single Mesosiderite.
Purple, purple everywhere, but not a rock to eat!
Any insights? Any hidden ***? We're losing our minds.

I have 2 KI (Prairie chocograph and Bush chocograph)
I need then an item : Tandjana Wildgrass
NPC says I already have one but I can't find it
When I go to, for example, Pashhow Marshlands, I dont't have any temporary item to use.

/itemsearch "tandjana wildgrass"
No instances of that item were found.

Try "Tjn. Wildgrass", that's its short name. It's not a temp item, so it's in some inventory bag.

Is a broken synth less likely to give a skillup than a successful one?
I assume there are numbers for this somewhere, from long long ago - I saw all the impressive work with HQ and break rates that people did on Escutcheon cards and I know we went at least as hard back in the day - because break synthing used to be an actual skillup meta back when gil mattered.
Alternatively, if there's a sweet spot level range for crafting skillups specifically or something else I don't know, please do let me know. I know about the graph over on BG with the synth fail rate by level but that's all I know.

Break synthing isn't really a thing, IMO. You can get a skillup on failures if you are within 5 levels of the skill's cap, but when you're within 5 levels of the cap, you won't break all that much anyway.
These days, going from 1-70 is insanely fast, cheap, and efficient, so long as you aren't doing anything too dumb. Getting from 70-110 can be a little tricky/annoying depending on the craft, but most of them aren't too bad either.
I generally go from -7 or so below the skill cap for the item up to +5 or so, depending how cheap and readily available the materials are, what the next recipe in my plan is, etc.
Here are my crafting skillup plans for each craft. Some are more complete than others, depending on when I leveled them up.

And thank you for the path - mine's got some different steps (Yellow Textile Dye for ALC, for instance) and I hadn't considered just doing Velvet Cloth before (as just one example!)
edit: although depending on level range, starting at -7 surprises me a bit. Sub-40 you get +3 from Support and +1 from Trainee's so you're at -3 (base 20% fail rate, minus all your food mods), I might go a level or two lower until 40, when you lose the Trainee's item.

Yes and yes. Breaks have less chance of a skill up, by how much I don't know. It was a lot last time I was doing synths.
I found the best skillups were with synths <10 points above your skill level, including synth support.
Once I could use a recipe under that with support would switch to it and keep going until a new one was available.

It's not exact science and I don't have tracked data to support it but in my anecdotal experience, even with support and +skill on gear, the break rates are bad at -8 and AWFUL at -10 or worse.
By Dodik 2026-07-22 09:44:20
True. Skill ups slow down a lot though <4 skill gap, so you end up having to do a lot more synths.
Ime there was a choice of keep going with a <4 skill gap and need a lot more synths or switch to something 8-10 skill gap for faster skill ups but a lot more breaks.
Likely a sweet spot somewhere in between.
By LightningHelix 2026-07-22 10:03:01
I mostly don't care too much about breaks if the actual skillup process is faster, FWIW. That's kind of what motivated me to ask if actual breakskilling was a thing!

It is, but not really.
Just find the cheapest thing and succeed. If you go for the absolute minimum skill and break 90% the skill ups just won't be there. It's not worth it.
Anecdotally, aiming 5 under cap (-8 with support)and going till 1~2 over is optimal (or till mats run out, or a cheaper synth becomes within the window). Of course that window slides the higher your skill. When you're at zero ride that ***till the wheels fall off.
You'll basically never see someone trying 10/12 under skill to break-skill up it's functionally non-existent(I have, it isn't great). Synergy failing is definitely the way though. I'll go 40 levels under for synergy and grind that *** the whole way.
By LightningHelix 2026-07-22 12:46:25
I honestly hate Synergy more than 20 levels below cap. The "impurities so high that you almost always get an Overload with a single feed" ends up eating so much time that I don't expect.

Feed through the explosions. doesn't mean ***.
I'm not saying go 40 under though, just that I do. can't be knocked back, explosion means nothing.
(less explosions means less downtime and restarts, so definitely going far under is not optimal)
By LightningHelix 2026-07-22 16:14:59
Yeah, just the forced restart that matters, I'm certainly not Thwacking trying to prevent it. Just a pain to have to use more brain cells to interact with the furnace more often kind of thing.
By Dodik 2026-07-22 16:27:07
During synergy skill up campaign, and with the furnishing, safety lever when near 30 to get to near 0, keep feeding while under 30.
Even if capped on an element you still get skill ups if you keep feeding. You also get skill ups on repair, which can be spammed very quickly. Safety lever can skill up also but not many of those.
Much faster than having to wait for explode animation and restart, even with all the tools.
All the interactions count for skill up. Clicking it to restart does not give skill ups.

Anyone know the deal with Hidhaegg's white proc?
I know the yellow proc, BG wiki has details on that, but I've definitely also seen a white proc and it seems to be correlated to it taking more damage / it not randomly dealing 4500 to people in 50 DT sets?

Interesting. Was that before or after Shikigami Weapon was added?

Happy page 1000
The wiki says enemies seem to have a cap of 10% critical chance and a minimum of 1%. Does this mean that you only need 9% crit reduction from enemies to cap (4% with merits)? Or does the crit reduction come into the formula sooner?
For example, if the enemies have so much DEX that they would have a 20% critical rate, but it's capped to 10%, does -9% critical rate do nothing or does it still floor their chance to 1%?

For example, if the enemies have so much DEX that they would have a 20% critical rate, but it's capped to 10%, does -9% critical rate do nothing or does it still floor their chance to 1%? Pretty much, yeah. While I've not seen very much testing across various mobs, I've yet to see anything with higher than 10% crit rate by a statistically significant margin.
I'm actually only aware of two tests. One of mine, which was a small sample for Sheol C mobs, and a JP blog post that previously tested the min and max enemy crit rate values.
It's entirely possible that there are exceptions. Like mobs with artificially increased crit rate, via non dDEX means. Though, again, I've not personally tested or seen any tests with such. But other weird things exists, like some mobs having innate crit evasion, lowering player crit rate vs them by a flat value. So mobs with elevated crit rate towards players could certainly exist.
Long story short, -9% is probably enough in general, but we haven't actually tested a wide enough variety of mobs to exclude the possibility of outliers.

I learned yesterday that apparently Odyssey Sheol A/B/C count as a Wings of the Goddess area for purposes of Sigil. I got the increased meal duration from having Sigil on and eating food in Sheol C. I assume this means the Regen/Refresh works too?
Might be common knowledge, or just obvious, but I didn't see anything on the wiki about it. Having some free regen/refresh is nice.
