»I've still never played the game.. Actually, I haven't played a Zelda game since OoT.. I honestly haven't seen the point... To me, OoT was about as close to video game perfection as you'll ever get.. I've watched people play others, including MM, but all I could think the entire time was how it didn't measure up to OoT.. I'm just not going to have a fun experience if the entire time all I'm doing is comparing the game to something else, and I just can't help but do it with Zelda..
Zelda 1 and 2 were a little before my time.. I didn't have my first gaming system til well after their release.. But I picked up Link's Awakening and A Link to the Past (strangely in that order) and it's always been this upward arc.. It'll take something that surpasses OoT before I'll play another Zelda game.
Twilight princess actualy does this, tho some people bashed it cuz of the wolf thingy, it starts slow but it surpasses OoT emencely.
SS is just long lol (took me 5.5 hours to get to the first boss) but it's still pretty good (and hopefully not giving anything away here but opens up a second timelins/paradox like OoT did
It does? I was pretty sure that was speculative, based on whether or not you believe that it happened on whatever fork of time they claim was created in OoT. Though, I really don't understand how seperate timelines were created in OoT, because it's the same exact world after he comes back from the future. Ganondorf still takes over and all the same events occur, and then 7 years down the line 17 year old Link appears and saves the same world.
Back on the note of Twilight Princess being better... graphically superior, better and more fluid horseback riding and combat, better and more battle mechanics, bosses that are completely unique and new for the entirety of the game... Yeah, it's pretty much better in all ways. Storyline included. My one complaint is that it's too easy though. I found it quite impossible to die. Like everything in that game that hurts you takes 1/4 a heart. Even Ganondorf's sword swings at the end of the game. You literally can't die, and what's more, they hand out heart pieces like they're going out of style. Even with the 5/5 hearts I still managed 20/20 hearts before game's end. Added on top of that, the fact that you can use your money to fuel that Rupee Armor... Link was practically an untouchable God.
They realized this of course, and in Skyward Sword they start you with 6 hearts. >_>; But then everything hits like a truck. Almost everything that hits you takes a whole heart or more. Some monsters take more than one at a time. Haven't finished it yet, but gameplay fun is almost hindered by the fact that they went overboard on wanting you to motion control the direction of his sword swings. Every single enemy has the ability to block your sword, but also leaves an opening, which would be fine if you could register and get your sword in position to swing from said direction as quickly as they could move their blocking item/position. Even the simplest retard enemies with machetes can block a good amount of swings. Talk about annoying!
As for OoT... I love the hell out of it, and have the entire game memorized and even have beat the Master Quest rendition of it, but it's definitely not the ideal Zelda game. It's basically a copy paste of A Link to the Past. Just replace Ganondorf with Agahnim and add in two more adult dungeons and they would be the exact same game, only with graphical differences.
