They wasted the Gen-V cast entirely, which was really unfortunate.
They can't seem to decide how viruses work. Early in the season, they act like dropping it is going to instantly spread worldwide, which isn't how viruses work. Yet it kills supes on contact almost immediately, so spreading isn't an option? Then later in the finale he wanted to spread it by exposing those in Vought Tower, sending it home via contact. So which is it?
Leaving Vought under control of the person who let this whole thing happen to begin with feels anticlimactic. No resolution for Soldier Boy is lame.
Starlight killing The Deep by sending him into the water without knowing the sea life wants to kill him was kinda...weird. Why would you send him to the place he's strongest?
The finish with Homelander was good, it being broadcast was interesting, but the leaks mentioned a military scene before it finished and it was a bit disappointing that didn't happen. Feels like the whole of the US gov't just kinda bending over was a little weak.
No more Stilwell scenes seems like a miss. They overplayed the whole "I am god" thing to the point it was kinda cringy and I'm not sure it added that much to the plot.
It wrapped the Butcher / Homelander story but left the rest open. Vought Rising might be interesting but idgaf about any sequel spinoffs at this point. Feels kinda like what became of Star Wars for me, I'll watch some of it if I'm bored, but the finish kinda dulled my interest. OTOH S8 of GOT murdered any interest I had in watching anything in the series again.
It's gonna go into the long list of shows that had to be neutered because the wrong people were liking it and butchered the whole series as a result.
ftfy
Yea, that is...weird to me. Idk how anyone could watch the series and have that be their takeaway but I'm also not sure they should be tailoring the series to a minority of morons.
My issue is the pacing. Stuff that happened the past few episodes should've been done long before.

I just watched the finale, it went about how I expected. There were a couple of character fates that I had some questions about, but for the most part, satisfying. Great acting from Antony Starr and Karl Urban. The show went on for a season too long, but it was certainly better than Game of Thrones and Westworld.

What exactly do you think was neutered?
I still stand by what I said. A lot of stuff that happened in the finale should've happened in prior episodes, not in the finale. The whole v1 thing was an unnecessary mcguffin they could've skipped to advance the plot and end on a more conclusive note.
Not really sure why you think that aged poorly or is a result of neutering. Seems more like shitty writing to me.
The only real complaint is the same old complaint.
Super Speed.
There is no possible way any of those people move as fast as Homelander.
Superhuman speed can never be written properly. If you're faster than everyone else, then you're 100% invulnerable. That doesn't work. (pre-cognition withstanding, none of them are precogs or time manipulators)
The only thing you can do is say well he was just *** with them and then he died. Cause dumb. Womp womp.
it works for strength. it works for intellect. it works for mcguffins. But it doesn't work for speed. You underestimate anyones anything and lose by hubris. But if you're magnitudes faster, it's impossible.

Kripke crashing out, another writer with an agenda mad when fans just want entertainment and not a TDS inspired sermon. Makes sense now.
They wrote in an Elon Musk lookalike, complete with worlds richest man status, double digit children and an obsession with space. They even had him wear a "dark homelander" hat. This character was written in for one episode and also killed off in the same episode: the series finale.
Felt rushed and all taking place in a single room... Same disappointment I had with strangers things final season. It's like these writers and directors love to stick it to the fans in the last moment.
I quit watching after the penis explosion scene. Never read the comics so maybe that sort of thing is typical of the content, but it made me assume the writers were just a bunch of weirdo idealogues (which seems spot on). Adding a death to increase the absurdity another level doesn't make it feel less like gay fetish porn. Shame, I really liked Kripke's seasons of Supernatural.

Don't need to watch to 100% agree with this, unilaterally, on all content. You can't beat speed/time manipulation. Trying to write around it only works on idiots.
Ending was alright. Not the best final episode ever, and seemed rushed despite spending two whole seasons leading up to it.
I thought the writing was fine. A lot of the gory stuff is in the source material. The whole empowerment, SA and social messaging are writers self-inserting their beliefs into the story. That's the cringe part.
And pretending no one sees how messed up Starlight's face has got.
Where was Crime Analytics this entire time? Oh, only when it related to Ryan.... uhhuh. The crew gets to run around without zero detection compared to how scary it was in Season 1 to think Homelander can hear your farts
Finished The Boys. You guys have already said how I feel about the ending.
I think the pattern with streaming shows is to simply just attract people for subscriptions in the first 2 (maybe 3) seasons, tops. They operate in a late-stage capitalism model, where new show = new subs = paramount. Maintain existing shows? Nah.
Kill a new show with promise, after 1-2 seasons? Sure.
End a 5-season show with a decent following, on a high note? Nah, rush the ending. *** them fans.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
