I was in ambuscade yesterday, and the GEO entrusted STR on myself, but I didn't see the notification in the HUD. He used a second entrust (MND) and that one did display in the HUD, along with the GEO and Indi Bubbles. My native in-game buff bar displayed STR, MND, and Attack Bonus bubbles but the HUD did not display the STR one. I'll keep an eye on it later if I ever have this again (not a big deal), but curious if the display accounts for multiple indi bubbles up at the same time in the entrusted slot, on multiple characters.

Great addon by the way Nalfey

Maybe I have it setup wrong, but was noticing if a buff luopon is down, the HUD is still trying to track if "enemies" are in range and tagged. Would be helpful if the addon instead showed party members in range of the buff with the colored circles below them instead of enemies?

Ah yes thanks, I'll add that to the list of fixes so that it switches behaviours depending on bubble types

That's a neat idea and I know it's slightly off topic but if you could associate a simple symbol or something with each color (could be a single letter?) it would be great for colour blind people as well ^-^

Apologies for my ignorance, but what would work best visually for colour blind people ? I'm thinking of adding an extra mode that you can toggle on/off where it adds extra symbols on top of the rings around the mobs.
Would just extra X and O on top of the ring be enough ? Would you need some sort of contrast variation to help visualize it ?

Great job on this Nalfey!

]

As an aside, both add-ons now work and they are compatible with eachother. Interestingly, when the rings overlap they combine and make different colors :0 (big credit to Nalfey for finding a solution for both of us for this most recent windower update!)

I just got your latest version but the rings are not showing up with targetring but the Geohud rings do.

Not ignorant at all! And I don't really know what to answer, I'm no expert myself.
Personally I have a very mild form and most of the times I can tell colours apart no problem, except for some colours under specific circumstances and/or if my eyes are very tired.

For me anything that's not colour related (a shape? a letter? a symbol? Anything that you can tell apart from something else by the shape instead of the colour) is more than enough.
Maybe I won't even need it to be fair, but someone might so it would be extremely neat if you could maybe someday find the time to add such a mode!

Thanks everybody for the feedback and new ideas, here is a big update:

Latest version:GEO-HUD v1.9.1

1 . Complete revamp of how rings are generated, so they should be more stable, less jumpy and less stuttering. Does not require a .dll in the .../Windower/plugins/ folder. So please delete any old plugins from previous versions. Everything is now self contained in the addon folder.
Also if you were using an old version restart the game so it fully unloads the old plugin from the game's cache.

2 . Both latest versions of GEO-HUD and TargetRing are compatible and don't overwrite each other, please make sure you are using the latest versions for both.

3 . Buff Geo- bubbles draw green rings on party members in range. Debuff Geo- bubbles still ring enemies.

4 . Colorblind mode: `//geohud colorblind on|off`
draws six high-contrast O marks on green rings and six X marks on red rings.

5 . Cardinal Chant circle: `//geohud cardinalchant on|off`
draws a ring under you that follows the target's direction. North = blue magic crit, east = red magic attack, south = green magic accuracy, west = yellow magic burst. In-between bearings blend the two nearest colours.

6 . Per-job settings files so that HUD, orbs, rings, and the mob list can differ by character and job.

Could you make it so the bubble itself has a ring which would showcase a visible limit to how far the bubble extends to?

I think the only time the entrust would still show is if you're too far away from the character that has the entrust when it drops off. It looks at when the buffs is lost to remove the entrust from the HUD.

Changing the behaviour to check the caster's gear + augments and extracting the duration of the spell on midcast, that is a whole other headache that can lead to a lot of just wrong duration values.
So for now I don't think it's something I'd want to implement without finding a very robust way of doing it.

Given how the number of options to increment Entrust duration are extremely limited, you could make a custom command that allows you to implement the bonus value manually.

+12-15-18-21 seconds from relic legs
+15-20-25-30 seconds from empy feet

Then there's the club slot. Either +15 seconds from Solstice or up to 11% from Gada.

The fact all these values are static except Gada which is a % makes it complicated to handle with a single command, would probably need two: one for static increase and one for % increase, you add the values to both (by default they're at 0 I guess?).

Personally I already do that with a custom timer with the Timers addon.
I use values I manually put in the lua, I don't check for gear equipped during midcast.
But given the amount of available indi-boost gear today, that wouldn't be too complicated. Just slightly unreliable!

Code
function custom_indi_timers(spell,target)
local indi_entrust = 0 -- Static value used to handle a bigger static duration (Solstice) for entrusted Indi spells
local indi_gada = 0 -- Percentile value used to handle a bigger percentile duration (Gada indi+11) for entrusted Indi spells
	if buffactive['Entrust'] then
		-- indi_entrust = 15
		indi_gada = 11
	end
local indi_static = 51 -- Static is a static duration addition, like that on Bagua pants and Azimuth Gaiters - Updated for Bagua Pants +3 and Gaiters +3
local indi_JP = 40 -- Static value coming from the relative JP category
local indi_percentage = 20 -- Percentage is a percentile duration addition, like that from Lifestream Cape augment
local indi_base = 180 -- Base is the base duration of Indi spells, atm it's 180 seconds.
local indi_delay = 1 -- Delay is a value to handle a lag/delay with server<>client update of the buff being active. Put 0 if you want to deactivate this.
	local indi_duration = ((indi_base+indi_static+indi_JP+indi_entrust)*(1+(indi_percentage/100)+(indi_gada/100)))+indi_delay
	send_command('timers c "'..spell..' ('..target..')" '..tostring(indi_duration)..'')
end

edit:
Forgot there's capes too...
The Ambu one is static +20 seconds, the Reive one is % as well (up to 20%), so Gada isn't the only % thing, sorry! Just noticed by reading the code I made years ago which I posted above.

New version with some performance tweaks and hopefully fixes for some rare people who are unable to see the rings.

@Spccdog can you please try this version and see if it has fixed your ring display issue please. Broguypal got in touch and shared the fix he implemented for TargetRing for you, so I'm using a similar approach.

Latest version:GEO-HUD v1.9.4

1 . Accept D3D devices from wrappers such as dgVoodoo: if GetDevice returns an object outside d3d8.dll, keeps it when Release/EndScene/GetViewport/DrawPrimitiveUP look like real code. Renderer scan skips unreadable slots and looks 0x8000 bytes instead of 0x2000.

2 . Performance tweaks: ring list and Cardinal Chant updates throttled to 10 Hz in `prerender`
trampoline page freed on DLL unload
D3D device COM ref released on scan failure.

3. Cardinal Chant ring now shows N/S/E/W letters at the world compass points.

This looks really cool! A suggestion, if I can: the cardinal chant mode suffers a bit of the same colorblind issue. Is there any way to do the same with those (I dunno, PlayStation symbols?) or have something configurable in the settings to change the colors for various rings?

I have tritanopia, which makes most blues greens and yellows all look the same. I never expect anything to be perfect or to fit all boxes, but having the option of customizing the ring colors would make it significantly more approachable.

Small bug fix update.
Broguypal discovered that unloading GEO-HUD after TargetRing could cause a game crashe.

Latest version: GEO-HUD v1.9.5

1. draw_scene trampoline does not get freed up if another addon chained on top of GEO-HUD, so unloading GEO-HUD after TargetRing no longer crashes.

Even with the new version of Cardinal Chant with the extra N,S,E,W letters added to the ring is it still difficult for you to read them ?

I could make it so if the colour blind mode is switched ON those letters get a lot more contrast and pop out of the ring underneath.
Would that be enough ?

This is a bit easier to read. I only just realized after looking at it closely that it's color shifting between them and not 4 solid colors based on the direction. That makes sense given that's how it works, but without the cardinal directions on the ring I had no idea.

Its still not working, still crashing when I unload geo-hud with the new targetring. Going to the old ver of targetring, only works with the new ver of geo-hud if I unload geo-hud, reload targetring and then reload geo-hud. Something goofing

One other thing I noticed is that when an Entrusted Indi spell wears off, it still shows in the HUD. The entrust refresh on Koru-moru has long since worn off, but it still shows. It's also not showing the party members in range of the indi spells:

Or is this not actually tracked? The only frame of reference I have for GEO HUDs is the built-in display with Sel's GS, which shows the mobs and players affected

Hey Siyu. So I noticed the same thing but it seems to only occur with trusts. When I casted on an actual player it worked fine.

I’d really like a definitive circle that represents the bubbles radius normally and for wide compass if possible!

Love projects like these though!

I've been using this addon since you released it, and I've been loving it. This is a really clean, aesthetically pleasing assistant for GEOs and can really help in busy content with large pulls or with kiting. A few things I've noticed:

1) If the GEO casts a debuff luopon on an enemy (targeting the enemy with the luopon), the addon does not tag the enemy as being affected by the luopon until the GEO performs a follow-up action. For example, when we're kiting a boss in Sortie, the tank holds the enemy away from the party while the GEO casts Geo-Gravity on the enemy. Then, after debuffs are applied to the enemy and the tank secures hate, the tank runs away and the party swoops in to kill. This addon will mark the enemy as being un-tagged (red circle), until the GEO runs in and starts attacking the enemy. The enemy should be automatically tageed if they are the target of the debuff luopon.

2) The behavior seems to be that if a luopon is cast over a group of enemies, the un-tagged enemies in range get a red circle, and the tagged enemies in range get a green circle. If an un-tagged enemy walks out of range of the luopon, the circle disappears entirely, but if a tagged enemy walks out of range, the circle turns red instead of disappearing. I'm not sure if this difference in behavior is intentional or not, but wanted to point it out in case the circle was intended to also disappear from tagged enemies when they walk out of range.

3) If the luopon disappears (gets killed, Full Circle is used, etc.) any enemies who were previously tagged and in range of the luopon with a green circle now have a permanent red circle around them, even with no luopon present. Is this intentional? I would have expected the tracking circles to go away if no luopon is present.

Thanks again for all of your hard work, and the frequent updates over the last several days!

Definitely seconded on the bubble radius circle. This would be an astounding improvement to be able to visually see exactly *where* the bubble range is on the screen.

Thanks for all the feedback this is a massive help to get everybody involved in the testing and QoL improvements.

I have released a new version on GitHub that fixes the crashing that can occure with TargetRings, But I haven't announced anything yet as I am still working on some of the features that you've requested.

Main things I'll be looking into this week are:
- For Siyual, increase visibility of N,W,S,E letters in color blind mode

- pointed out by lunariancrystal, Sech and Siyual , revamp of the Entrust system to get the correct timers from gear and if not possible relatively correct estimations of duration and watching for the falling buff. And also fixing the issue where the entrust would still show on trusts even though it wore off.

- red ring behaviour fixes that Navius has pointed out

This is actually the correct behaviour, if someone else pulls initial hate in this case the tank, and the GEO casts a bubble after the pull (even if it targeted the mob), the GEO did not generate any hate on that mob at this point in time. And they need to do an extra action.
If the mob is not claimed and the very first action on the mob is the GEO casting a bubble on the mob then the GEO will generate enmity and the bubble will take effect.

If you want to parse the gear worn during midcast (not extremely reliable, but totally doable!) these are the items that you CURRENTLY need to watch for. "Currently" because something else might be added in the future, who knows.

Static increase:
Bagua Pants (12 seconds)
Bagua Pants +1 (15 seconds)
Bagua Pants +2 (18 seconds)
Bagua Pants +3 (21 seconds)
Bagua Pants +4 (21 seconds)
Azimuth Gaiters (15 seconds)
Azimuth Gaiters +1 (20 seconds)
Azimuth Gaiters +2 (25 seconds)
Azimuth Gaiters +3 (30 seconds)
Solstice (15 seconds)
Nantosuelta's Cape (20 seconds)

Percentage increase:
Gada (up to 11%, it's an augment)
Lifestream Cape (10-20%, it's an augment)

I already gave you the formula I use to calculate it:
((indi_base+indi_static+indi_JP+indi_entrust)*(1+(indi_percentage/100)+(indi_gada/100)))

This is a formula that made sense to me because I wanted the same formula for both regular Indi spells and Entrusted ones (which last slightly more because I swap the MH Club. I don't do that for regular indi because I want to use Idris, of course)

My method is more accurate but it requires configuration on the player's side, he has to give specific values.
Parsing gear in midcast instead, when it works, does it all on its own without any sort of configuration from the player.
Pros and Cons I guess?

If the mob is not claimed and the very first action on the mob is the GEO casting a bubble on the mob then the GEO will generate enmity and the bubble will take effect.

I may be misunderstanding something, but I don't believe this is correct. In the Sortie example, the tank runs in and gets hate on the enemy, then the GEO casts a Geo-Gravity bubble on the enemy. The effects of the gravity bubble clearly take effect on the enemy when the tank runs out of range, before the rest of the party runs in for the GEO to make a follow-up action, yet the addon still shows a red circle on the enemy.

Just to make sure I wasn't imagining something, I just ran a quick test- I had one character run to an enemy and attack to get hate (and then turn around). Then, a GEO in party cast a Geo-Poison bubble targeting the enemy. The poison from the bubble clearly took effect as I watched the enemy's HP tick down, but the enemy was marked as un-tagged in the addon.

EDIT: On a similar note, I haven't checked yet, but does this addon handle situations where all party members are on the hate list by default and tagging is not required (like ambuscade?).
