GEO-HUD is an addon that tracks your Luopan, Indi and Entrust spells, but also visually displays tagged mobs in the bubble.

The addon shows how many mobs are within your Luopan's range and how many of those are actually tagged with hate.

Visual rings around the mobs will show as red if the mobs are in the bubble but not tagged and the rings will turn green when they are tagged as you generat some kind of hate.
This tracks both hate generated by yourself casting a spell on mobs but also hate generated from healing a party member.

The addon can also be used when you are not the GEO in the party, with all the same features.
This is great for PLD kiting when you want to make sure a boss is still within the bubble's range, and also great for DDs to know which mobs have been tagged in a group pull to maximize dps.

This has been tested on mass pulls of 50+ mobs and does not cause any slowdowns or lag.

Very nice! This should be in FFXI itself haha.

I took a quick look at the code and for anyone wondering this does handle casting cure on a target with hate instead of doing an action directly on the mob too which is just 10/10.

For my own curiosity I saw find_self_luopan is checking for the pet two different ways? Any reason you had to do that? My SMN stuff always does it by index and I'm wondering if I have a potential bug hidden in my stuff lol

Ah yes it’s two different windower lookups for the same pet because each one could potentially fail on its own (even if index is less likely to do so)
So it's a bit of an extra safety layer, if last 'pet' is blank, it tries the index; if the index isn’t ready, 'pet' might already work.

If you only used index most of the time you'd be fine, especially if you also tried get_mob_by_target('me').pet_index when player.mob is missing.
The real pitfall would be a missing pet_index you'd most likely get a short “NO LUOPAN” after cast, or (rarely) a wrong entity in that slot until the next update check.

If you were to only used 'pet' the pitfall is the opposite, last 'pet' not set yet then the bubble is missing from the HUD until windower catches up.

Looks great if it works reliably.

Any chance of a feature to hide the HUD when not on Geomancer? I wouldn't mind the targeting rings staying on for when I'm playing with other people, but when I'm not on GEO, I would prefer to hide the hud so I don't need to load/unload every time.

Good call, I've added new commands so that people can customize their HUD however they want.

The first time you load the addon it should have copied the "BCRings.dll" file over to your ".../Windower/plugins/" folder. Can you check it's in there.
And you can also check it's loaded in game by doing

Really nice work, especially the ipc sharing. I have noticed that the tagged count can sometimes not update (e.g. if the bubble is the first action on an unclaimed mob) but it sorts itself out.

You don't need the target rings addon to use this. Combining this with that might be what's breaking it.

I put the addon into my windower addons folder, loaded the addon, and everything began working immediately with no issues.

Haven't downloaded yet, but are these settings stored in a settings file so they persist after re-logging/loading?

Could you also take these settings a step further to separate them based on if being the GEO versus there being a GEO in a party?

IE: I'd want to see the HUD while on GEO, but I don't want to see it if not on GEO but there is a GEO in the party, without having to toggle the HUD each time when switching between GEO and something else.

Interesting, I've shut down the game and when relaunching windower did an auto-update and now neither TargetRing from Broguypal nor my GEO-HUD are displaying rings

As an aside, both add-ons now work and they are compatible with eachother. Interestingly, when the rings overlap they combine and make different colors :0 (big credit to Nalfey for finding a solution for both of us for this most recent windower update!)

Trying it out, looks good. The UI element is acurate, for whats in range and what enemies in the luopan are tagged. The colors on the other hand, either blink or just stay red, even if they are recognized by the HUD. It'll be red for a long time then blink green then back to red.

I have not personally seen any issues with the ring colors. They seem to work exactly as described by the addon description. I've been in a party with a GEO but have not been a GEO yet.

We are noticing some stuttering in the position of the rings when mobs or players are running fast, some times you'll see the ring pop in front of the target and quickly snap back under it.

I'm looking on a smoother way to refresh the position of the ring, at the moment it does it x8 per second, which is not a lot.

I'll keep you guys updated.

That's actually a very cool idea that I could implement with a ring displayed under the character that would change colour depending on the direction you're facing the mob.
I'll have a think about it when I have a moment.

That's a neat idea and I know it's slightly off topic but if you could associate a simple symbol or something with each color (could be a single letter?) it would be great for colour blind people as well ^-^
