So like, since the update my character will regularly just stop walking along with my movement, like every 5-10 seconds and every time I interact with something (pokestop, gym, pokemon) to the point it is pretty unplayable.
Anyone else having similar issues? I have always had problems before but it has never been this bad.
Ever since the update, I have noticed I've been getting the message saying it can't find GPS signal a LOT more, though it typically only lasts for a second or two.
Just to confirm the radars not working is more a Niantic thing, they banned all of major cloud providers (AWS, Digital Ocean, etc.) IP ranges so people couldn't run a home-made radar from there.
So, yup, it's a war!
(Sometimes I wonder if I am a masochist... seeing how Square Enix and Niantic have in common of "punishing" player base and still wanting to play their games, I can't get myself away from FFXI or from Pokémon GO!).
So far, the only stable app I found is Pokemesh. Works like Pokevision; countdown timer, map, etc... but just an app, not via web.
Will test more on this app.
First thoughts: Not sure if its due to the .api junk, but scans seem really slow or not much on them. searched up and down a few local streets, about 8-10 different scans over 5 suburban streets. although the circle is supposed to be the scan radius, I had to scan multiple times to get all the pokemon to appear.
Edit: Turns out my issues were because they were working on things during the time I was testing. Pokemesh update posted around 430am EST. Worth mentioning, notes mentions an "Overlay mode".
Yes, I am aware that alternatives exist, personally I just set up the Map Github project on my Raspberry Pi but it would always be better to be running in a cloud environment like I was before they freakin' shut down AWS/DO/others.
So just following up about curveballs (which are apparently my obsession lately), but I'm getting the 10xp curveball bonus every time now. :D The only exception is when I accidentally throw a nice/great/excellent, at which point of course I get nothing.
Also lol at that 'hacker' group that promised to take down the servers for 20 hours today. GG y'all!
So I finally decided to act on all the Pidgeys and Rattata I have caught, I popped a lucky egg and evolved the crap out of them, level 18-20 in a 30 minute session.

They never hacked the game to begin with, that was high server congestion and nothing more :/

I heard it was because of minor text issues that have since been fixed.
Unrelated: My sister and I went and walked around down town last night and she decided to take over a Mystic gym. As soon as it fell, a kid ran up and shouted "Oh my god, dude, we have a problem, get over here!" "Is it Instinct?!"
My sister enjoys pissing kids off apparently. And no, we aren't both Instinct, I'm Valor.
I like the look and feel of the app. Actually, this one and PokePro are my favorite (PokeMesh is kind of sloppy IMO). It seems every day a new pokemon tracker rises and falls. I have installed and deleted over 5 within the time frame of websites going down.
I realize the game itself won't look anything like this until maybe a decade or two of updates, if ever. Even so, I am happy to be alive in this day and age.
For perspective, it is very reminscent but NOT TO BE CONFUSED with Google's April Fool's joke:
