Details: Rather than a poptart, I would like this replaced with a gun of sorts. Preferably something relevant to Ranger or Corsair (Hexagun/Annihilator) and with daggers flying out from behind rather than rainbows. I found this article today, and thought it was interesting (didn't want to make a new thread on it, in case it had already been made or brought up somewhere I didn't see...)
...TLDR: Essentially following the backlash of recent news tying authorship of both Stuxnet and Flame to US government interests, there will be an international push to establish ITU (a UN agency, based in Dubai UAE) as the governing agency over domain names, standards, and operating procedures instead of the existing ICANN agency (based in the US.)
Concerns brought up in the article are obviously changes that would come about to how the internet works and operates should a more international governing body run it, whether or not the use of cyber-attack algorithms by the US government should warrant changing agencies away from a US-backed standard system, whether the ITU has the existing capacity to handle such regulatory duties, and issues of free speech/freedom of content access/existing forms of internet anonymity when the governing body shifts away from the Westernised paradigm of operation.
