Yeah, undeniable the best team won the trophy.

Still, the ending made me wonder if maybe Argentina could try a little harder.

I do think it is pretty impressive the pressure they put on the other team. They had two clear chances to score.

But they just try such pressure when they are behind.

And like they say here, "IF" is just a wishful thinking, but I wonder if Anrgentina was fully rested, if they would actually dispute against Spain.

Argentina had pretty rough playing extra time in, I think, every match?

Messi was super bad today. But you can complain about a 39y that played all the time in the extra matches and still making the difference in every match.

IF again the Argentina could have Scaloni when Messi was at his prime. Then things could be rough for everyone else.

Chanti, come on.

Madonna has more plastic on her face than Barbie.

You're not wrong, but is this the face of a 67 year old woman?

Dang, you forced me to this... (NSFW)

The better team won.

Messi left Argentina at 13 to go to Barcelona, and for a long time was not seen as a "true" Argentinian because of it.
Messi also is a Spanish national and had the option to represent Spain early in his career, but chose Argentina instead. Spain would've been more monstrous than they already were back in the 2010s (and he would've won at least 2 WCs with him if we count today's)

If you are South American there is no reason to ever play nice with colonizers.
Argentina is probably the worst SA country you could use as an example for this statement lol. The players are probably descendants of the colonizers. Most of them are of Spanish and Italian heritage.

Kinda funny how Spain has Yamal and Williams but Argentina has 0 "colored" players (as usual)

Spain contained him. Their press was really good. It's as if they could see ahead of time.

I agree that the better team won. One goal was going to be difficult for Argentina, two pretty much impossible.

I think their game was from the begining, taking the game to the PK, so I was considering they were being more successful in their plan than Spain.

But I feel like the red card shifted things a little. The pressure Argentina imposed on Spain in the end was decent. They had two clear chances to score.

I just wonder if they had that pressure with Enzo in field. And if they had a litte more time to actually try.

As always, the red card is just a let down to any game where you dont actually cheer for any side. Even more such a dumb play like Enzo, who had a yellow card for complaining, and another for an unnecessary dispute.

BTW, Curbasi was a monster. He defended a clear chance by the end, and baited Enzo to the red card.

Maybe best player in the match.

I also thought the Argentine goalie played extremely well, the fact he stopped so many shots was incredible.

I actually heard the commentators here praising a lot Rodri campaign tbf.

We consumers can only watch the match from the ball perspective but commentators have the full picture from above so they can actually see the players disposition.

And then they mention Rodri is a masterclass of flow control, he dictates how Spain game will ran.

Kinda makes sense as Spain was the strongest midfield in the entire competition, and Rodri definitively is the maestro of that team.

Rodri is a Ballon d'Or winner from 2024, he's that good. Can't think of another defensive playmaker that has won a Ballon d'Or.

Without him, that Spain team doesn't work.

He was also out the entire year with an ACL tear, only returned just in time for the world cup.

I have to ask our world football fans what is it about FIFA, the most nakedly corrupt sports organization in the history of organized sport*, that it cannot be reformed?

*Were the Medicis interested in sports they might have surpassed FIFA but it would have take a LOT of belladonna and/or arsenic.

This is a hot take.

Rule of thumb, the most currupt is always the next one.

Regarding FIFA, even being corrupted, I dont feel like it is actually detrimental.

Here in Brazil, our confederation is organized as a central organization that relies on the state organizations.

Well, if you think FIFA is corrupt, you never saw the brazillian institutions.

To begin with, you just cant explain a good amount of players that were in the national team this year. Many players that didnt even played a single minute, and got transfers during or after cup.

THIS is detrimental, the worst type of corruption because it just make a fool of the entire nation that loves football, but they are more interested in players transfers than having the actual best brazillian players in the most important cup.

In a word, money.

Long answer is respective national football entities are government entities, not-for-profit. Aka non-taxable entities aka corrupt.

They elect a representative, who can then vote for Fifa president.

Money exchanges hands between elected representatives, their peers/council members who vote for them, and between those representatives and Fifa presidential candidates in order to vote for them. More money -> more votes.

The national football entities themselves are hugely corrupt. Most countrie's football management entities are hugely corrupt.

It's how Trump and Infantino are so chummy.

Money.

Now Fable5 usage requires credits, it doesnt go with the weekly limit quota.

Anthropic gave us $100 in credits to "keep using it".

I already had the experience of using credits with Opus and, oh boy.

Im definitively not resorting to Fable5 until they invent something even better and allow Fable5 to enter the cheaper plans.

I've been lucky enough to watch Maradonna play live (on TV).

Messi doesn't come close to Maradonna single handedly carrying Argentina to a world cup in '86.

In the modern era, yes, Messi is the best. Best ever? Not for me, no.

IMO, Messi is the undisputed best dribbler in the entire story. But any other comparison (other technical skills, titles, etc) is up to debate, and generally hard avoid some sort of bias.

Yeah.. June to July. It looks like a mix of the heat wave, keeping the AC units to 60 and leaving the living room ac on for the dogs... but he kept going to the bathroom tile to sleep, so that was kinda wasted. Never had it that high before, now they have to sleep in the room to keep just one AC on.

AC costs in New York during a heat wave adds up quick I imagine.

Even London has had multiple heat waves throughout June and July.

Global warming at its finest.
