Iron Blooded Orphans was the last Gundam I watched and it was great. Completely broke the mold.
I heard good things, especially about the first season.

And it gave us the Running Ganger meme paired with its opening, so it gets a pass.

In any case, most people lack willpower, that was something we agreed to in the conversation before your interjection. I'm not even sure what purpose your original comment (most people weak minded people :D) served.
Or I do have an idea. But the less said, the better.

Man the problem is I can't stop myself from going too hard in the gym. I start doing something like overhead press, feels too good, end up doing a drop set to failure and can't wash my hair for 4 days because my arms no longer function.
Man, I'm 100% like that. I set high target and go absolutely berserk at it until I reach it. Idk how to work out just for the sake of being fit. It has to have an almost unreachable target for me. I just benched 315 last week and it was one of the most rewarding things ever!

No need. I am have no interest in pretending to be good people, I thought I made it super clear in RT though? It's only you who continue to expect me to be a good people, seriously, dude.

What do you think the purpose of my original comment is? Please don't tell me it's something positive!

If you don't then you wouldn't say "I'm not even sure", nor read my statement as some kind of statistical statement. You'd be 100% sure what I meant from the start!

It isn't. You're just fixated over an idea.
You just need to use that wide imagination of yours a little better.

So...why did you read my statement as statistical statement then? Yeah it's totally weird to read it that way, unless you accidentally see a % somewhere in the sentence or something.

sorry, my imagination is so bad that I can't imagine why would anyone read my sentence differently!

I need to get back into working out again. Every time I've tried though, over the past 5 or so years, I wind up doing what I think is moderate progression...

And then I get hurt in some way.

Late 2019 I pulled something in my left thigh, and couldn't do power walking anymore.

Late 2020 my Guyon Canal had sudden knife stab like pain half way through my 4th set of 20 push ups. Couldn't do anything related to that hand for months without intense pain. Sometimes it still flares up if I do much with it.

2022 I started into home workouts again, Guyon Canal pain and pain in my upper back had me tap out.

2023/2024 I started taking 20 pound dumbbells to work just to curl/rows/lunges in downtime. No issue there, but wasn't a truly consistent workout, but felt like the only time I could fit it in between job, future(now current) wife, and other responsibilities.

Haven't tried this year, but options are limited at the moment. Plus I had that random *** shoulder problem last December. That was an exceptionally painful week. Intense shoulder pain out of nowhere during a Christmas get together, and then loss of motion the next day. Three days in a sling with loads of ice and pain meds and a trip to the doc that amounted to, "I can't do ***, see an Ortho if you don't get range of motion back in a couple of days." And I got range of motion back and the pain did go away.

But every now and then, especially when barometric pressure drops, I get stabby needles in my right shoulder.

I wasn't expecting this kinda ***until my 40s.

As I understand it the current theory is lots of light reps for almost any goal. Unless the goal is powerlifting.

Then again I was never a gym rat. I was more of an "it feels like PE" and I used to skip PE at every opportunity.

Vyre, I'd recommend at least getting on a treadmill.. doing squats etc. Just don't stop completely. The mist abysmal phase of my life was when things were going wrong and I stopped taking care of myself. Now I can at least be depressed with style!! ;)

Just the act of doing something is therapeutic, you don't need to bench 315 like PS1 Hagrid if you're dealing with injuries. But, doing something helps the mindset and makes you more likely to scale up as you're able to.

4th set of 20 push ups

Can stop at 2/3 sets. Less is more when it comes to intensity, IMO.

Stay very far away from failure and results are better too.

Finding something you enjoy, like bodyweight exercises for example, helps a lot.

Anything to suggest that? If anything, I feel it's setting up a new saga by revisting an old one.

The very first PewSiePie video I was ever recommended is one with title “Im done with Google”, and the thumbnail is a red cross over youtubes logo.

Feels like the algorithm favor videos that feels like goodbyes.

It is not the first video i receive from a youtuber that I never followed, but that publish a video saying hes quitting.

I'll get back to it. My own vanity won't let me become a complete slob.

I still walk my dogs about 2 miles a day. Just shy of it, really. Even in this heat.

The whole second half of season 3 all in one go, that's nice.

It was douchey to call it season 3 and stop mid season 2, but oh well.

Guyon Canal

Is the issue with your shoulder on the same side?

I have had cubital tunnel issues for almost 10 years now, same nerve but compressed in my elbows. What I've found is that I have more problems on that side of my body than the other all around. I also am a lot weaker on that side, which results in a lot of compensation and imbalance. I did a bunch of strength tests with my PT and there is a tangible difference in endurance and strength on one side vs the other. Lifting weights I can feel there is a huge difference in dexterity on either side and that's after multiple years of PT and time in the gym to compensate for the imbalance.

I ended up needing surgery, though, on both sides. I tried to get help for this about 8 or 9 years ago and all the doctors I saw wrote me off b/c my EMG was negative. It wasn't until I was losing control of my hand that the EMG showed damage and they finally operated, but the damage was done at that point and I now live with permanent problems as a result. Most people I know who have CTS have the same problems, my mistake was giving up and accepting it when I should have sought out a hand specialist as opposed to an orthopedic surgeon.

I've had to avoid certain exercises as a result, also. I can't use a bench press, for instance, or anything where my elbows rest on something. If anything touches my elbows it feels like someone hit the nerve with a hammer. I just take new exercises slow, light then work my way up to see if they aggravate the problem. You'll probably have to do the same and, if it hurts, stop and do something else. There's enough varied equipment and exercises that should allow you to work the same groups without problems, but you should probably avoid anything that results in weird wrist positions, pushups will bend you wrist in a way I could see would aggravate any compression there.

It's also my understanding that the nerve can be compressed in your shoulder also, but that seems less common. I had that tested during my EMG but that might be part of the problem as well.

I guess the point is that if you keep having problems, you should probably see a doctor, these issues don't get better. Just see a hand specialist, most others won't give you the time of day unless you walk in with your hand clawed. You should still be able to exercise but, with any issue or condition, if it hurts or feels wrong - stop.

I know this is kind of an imbecile take on working out and being fit, but I treat it like RPG. I work on my frames like they are equipment. Lately I have noticed that my triceps are much bigger, proportionally, than my shoulders, so now I started working on my shoulders to level it up.

Benching 315, for example, didn't happen overnight. I think it took something like 3 years. Going above 2x 45 plates each side required me to eat better, sleep better up until I benched 315 (two weeks ago).

Some people can just go to the gym for the sake of being fit. For me, if I don't have goals, I lose interest.

My take on gym is being void.

No feeling of pleasure, no feeling of rejection.

I just do it as a daily routine.

When I dont do, I feel like something is missing like not taking a shower, not having meals.

While there, I enter in a stage of auto pilot, and quickly time flew.

This is my current mentality on gym and exercises.

I realize I'm missing the forest for the trees on Godfry's post a bit, but one thing I'd add is that bench press is one of the worst things you can do if you have ulnar neuropathy from Guyon's Canal or CTS. It's risky because you could lose dexterity / strength rapidly and unpredictably, but it can also cause long term pain after due to the way your wrist bends even with proper positioning.

I straight up can't do it anymore. I have to use dumbbells instead, but it's also a similar position to handlebars on a bike and you'll get similar symptoms as handlebar palsy, which can aggravate existing issues more. If you do it, keep the weight light and reps high, but be aware that the more weight you stack on, the more you are likely to aggravate it.

The overall idea of having to work up to fitness is right, not discounting that in any way, I would just - with your history of issues - avoid bench press like the plague.

In my opinion, bench press is one of the worst exercises, even for chest. I do bench press just for maxing. Then I move on to other chest exercises. Bench press is just to brag about how much you can bench. I don't even get a good pump or a good shape from it!

Work has been insane the last 2 weeks with testing and mid-year stuff, and it seems one of my managers clocked out mentally and is acting like a total jerk this month. Ever since I reprimanded him for using an employee to do an install on company time for an account we don't even own, a couple of months back.

It's annoying since I once considered this guy a friend and even invited him to my house in Thailand to hang with my family and in-laws, but he is now letting his personal life conflict with his work because he started dating a girl from backoffice. Late all the time, disappears for 30 minutes, doesn't CC me on his call-out emails, and now his team is telling me he is being rude to them for no reason. Dude calls me Corpo now since I am running a tighter ship and ensuring we follow protocol to the T. Just yesterday, he disappeared from 11 am to 12:30pm on a new equipment training and was saying "Don't worry, its easy".

Straight *** annoying man. 3 years of friendship down the drain because he didn't like the way I talked to him.

Im sorry, guys for writing all this - I just wanted to write this out somewhere
