I think everyone is well aware that RA doesn't know anything about anything. This was a fun one though. I wonder how that guy is planning on getting home to England now. I would suggest a boat but I don't know how feasible that is. Maybe the Royal Family will send him their private yacht.

One cup at a time and living alone yeah a basic keurig would be perfect for that.

Today I earned more Game Nerd™ Points...

I beat Devil May Cry 2, both discs.

Once upon a time, people said this is one of the worst game on Earth, if you want to torture someone, make them play DMC2. And completing it is considered an accomplishment for having great endurance for bad games.

So I decided to play it and see how bad it is exactly.

Truth to be told, it's actually kinda fun in the first 3 hours. Although the bland gameplay and the severe lack of moveset quickly shows after 3 hr.

But what's the worst is the fixed camera system tbh. I have no idea why Capcom designers in early 2000 liked fixed camera in action games so much. Onimusha also used fixed camera.

Fixed camera means I constantly got confused as camera changes angle 180 degrees next screen, or I have to fight/dodge enemies that I can't see off screen. Or even solve certain environment puzzles off screen.(Omg)

Beating both discs takes 5-6 hr, but many levels and bosses are repeating the old ones. So the real content is shorter than it looks.

After I complete the game, I felt my Game Nerd™ level has increased. Being able to beat this legendary black sheep title in the DMC universe. There is a great sense of satisfaction that comes with it after all. ;)

The leap in quality from DMC 2 to DMC 3 was drastic at the time. I could never play 2 again.

It's hard to answer this while being detached from that era. I believe they worked back then, and felt like a Capcom thing (after the success of Biohazard). I don't remember people complaining about it tbh, instead we were busy being blown away by DMC1 and Onimusha. Maybe there were technical limitations that would downsize the scale of the game otherwise had they gone for a more free camera, but I wouldn't know about that.

From a gameplay perspective, an argument can be made that it's part of the environtment vs player engagement: you need to figure out where the camera angle changes, and try to avoid that happening in a way that is disadvantageous to you. Think getting pushed to the corner in fighting games (in the sense that, you accept the existence of an end to the horizontal plane aka the corner, and if you get trapped there, it's on you).

It's from an era when we complained less about design and took it for what it was, and considered it part of the challenge, intended or not. I kinda miss those days. I'm sure some really janky games are still fondly remembered to this day for there jank, at least in part. Not saying I'd needlessly want jank nowadays, obviously.

main reason I never played Resident Evil/Biohazard was because of the fixed camera and tank controls. I guess it's part of the charm now but ain't no way, not for me.

I'll gatekeep that one any day.

Tank controls are a strong love hate relationship. All the real homies love to hate it.

They better not ever make any new games with it, but the old ones, gotta love it.

Are they even as bad as DMC 2?

I am pretty sure fixed camera was a thing in ps1 resident evil games because of pre-rendered background. Ps1 has limited processing power so the 3D environment looks terrible and blocky. pre-rendered background creates far more detail but that also means camera will be fixed.

RE1-3 all uses pre-rendered background, so does Square's FF7-9 and parasite eve 2. If you look at the environment of those game v.s other 3D ones they just look better.

Onimusha also uses pre-rendered background if I remember correctly. So I guess in this case Onimusha can be forgiven.

There is no reason to use fixed camera in dmc2 though. Dmc2's environment is full 3D and it doesn't even look good. All the 3D environment is just big blocks with big flat boring texture. It gets absolutely no graphical benefit from fixed camera, and it makes the gameplay worse. It's just a terrible choice overall.

DMC 1 is still pretty loved in DMC community even these days. DMC 2 is a meme game however. If people play it, they do it for meme purpose. "You beat DMC1? Good. Now go beat DMC2!" "Real gamer will beat DMC2!" "You just beat DMC2? Now you earned some bragging right!"

I laugh at these idiots like Elon Musk continually going on about how low Japans birth rates are. Every western nation has similar low birth rates, we just cover it up with mass immigration from the 3rd world.

London looks like Bangladesh now, they let so many immigrants in and none of them are integrating into out culture at all. It's nothing like in the US, at least immigrants there integrate in some fashion. That isn't happening at all in the EU / uk.

Here is a wild idea, just leave it alone and let the birth rates be low. The only reason these people continually complain about it, is they want to push down wages and it's the corporations complaining.

The UK lost half of it population after the black death (6 million to 3 million), and we are still here (around 60 million today). However the wealthy land owners had to pay far higher wages due to far less workers being available, and that's the real reason they are mad about it.

Every time you see Elon musk to on about this, it's purely money.

Isn't low wages and more labour in the job market great? We have like 3%(aka very low) unemployment rate and it's a pain to get anything done due to labour shortage.

Last time when we want to hire a janitor we only got someone who couldn't do his job properly and plays with his phone half the time at work. We fired him but we couldn't find someone else due to labour shortage. So we have to hire him back and wait for several months for a replacement. While paying that guy a salary that he didn't deserve.

Inb4 "just increase your wages by 200% and you'll get people". No, nobody that's actually paying money out of their pocket will say yes to inflation.

Getting workers to do any construction related work or care taker kind of work can wait for weeks if not months too.

Personally, I give zero ***about "culture gets changed!!!!". I don't care about what culture people have. But I do care about being able to get ***done and not having to suffer from inflation. Efficiency > cultural pride.

RA should stop complaining and learn to see things from different perspective.

But birth rates are falling world wide including in those third world countries.

Indeed the world as a whole is starting to fall under the replacement rate. This could either save or extinct humanity and frankly either would be good for the planet.

My only regret is that I won't be around to watch it.

Pretty sure RA brought it, also why is a comment about the value of cultural pride "politics"? I didn't say a thing about any political party nor politicians.
