It sounds like you tried to jump-start a car, but you put the gloves you had on your ankles. A google search for cardboard box coordination turned up no results. Then your poor hand/eye coordination lead to you incorrectly attaching the jumpers to the battery whence-upon you shouted EYAAAAAAD!
