Tl;DR:
If I was with my husband right now I would have to decide whether I wanted to punch him in the penis or hug him.

Getting in, staying in, getting out, trying to go back after are all tough choices to make. I think about it sometimes, I miss the work I was doing and some of the friends I had, but I do not miss the chain of command. Better that he would take the time and weigh the options than to make a decision that could be harder to switch back once he does so.

Is he a nuke or something?

He does not dislike the Navy. He does not dislike Subs...he just dislikes his job in particular.
The last few years he got accepted into a program that is a drone program for subs like the AF has for planes. Sadly, you can only stay there if you do back to back sea rotations. If they don't have a current project though, you are subject to being shipped out anywhere in the world. One guy got sent to Africa....Navy guys, in Africa...who would have thought that was a thing?

Indeed, those are for work.
I need some out-and-about, on the go shoes.
Lacing up heavy duty boots is a bit more time consuming and cumbersome, especially during hot summer days when we hit triple digit temps. Also I walk a minimum of 5 miles a day as per my work commute >.>

I stand with my choice. If I didn't have to wear dress shoes to my internships, I'd totally wear steel toes all day every day.

Not a fan of high top Chucks, and having walked miles while in Japan with Chucks, they are not comfy. If comfoort is a key factor, go with Vans.

I admire your steadfast masculinity. But a few miles in 113 degree weather might make your average male reconsider :<

Yeah, I've noticed that after a few months of wearing them, their comfort level diminishes severely. Hopefully that's nothing a decent insole can't fix, but I may just convert over to Vans this time around.
Thanks for the tip :D

Another thing to consider. Everyone and their mother has a pair of Chucks. Took this on one awkward bus ride.

One of the most comfortable shoes I have owned to date were made by Vans. The second most comfortable pair were made by Saucony.

For me, it's a matter of living with them throughout my childhood.
I grew up on Chuck Taylors since age 4. I recall having red, green, blue, and even purple ones at one point. I suppose some cycles are hard to break, even if it does cause minor discomfort over time lol.

But I'm definitely gonna give Vans a try this time around.

Yeah, I still have a pair of black and white Chucks hah

I wear flip flops whenever possible, otherwise it's a more formal shoe.

Have you ever tried on Clarks?
People call me an old lady for liking them but they are well made and worth the price. The sandals I have are about three years old and were fantastic for a week of walking through London, another trip to SanFran, a few trips of walking the strip in Vegas and monthly walking tours I did in Seattle. I know it isn't your standby but I highly recommend the brand.

Clarks if you are interested...

It looks like a cool game with an interesting world but I won't be playing it :| Not gonna buy a Wii U for 1 game. I have no interest in the dozens of mario games they'll release on the console lol
