TVR isn't an expansion, but quality is barely a step above any of those 3 add-on scenarios, and tried to do a lot of the same things.
The writers who worked on tVR btw is the same writers for CoP. The problem with tVR wasn't a lack of talent, it was a lack of budget.
I liked tVR a lot, but it's much more of a 'lore enthusiast's expansion'. We got a ton of info on the silent years following the meltdown, an account of one of the Yagudo wars, info on the ancient civilizations on Aradjiah, an explanation for the source and purpose of the Shadow Lord, some interesting lore on Odin, some info on beastmen societies, a brief explanation on the Astral Plane, etc. The list goes on. It feels like they wanted to elaborate on some of lore barely touched on throughout the game, but didn't have the budget to facilitate the confidence to dedicate a full mini expansion to any one topic of lore (obviously this would be the case, they couldn't add any real zones to the game). So, they touched on a different area in each chapter instead.
BTW, I don't see a new mini expansion coming out, not anytime soon anyway. But if one were announced, I wouldn't automatically write it off either.

Long story short, Today was a catastrophic failure.
Im sorry that happened - I was hoping to hear good news...
Asura sounds like a terrible place

they're major because they're Omega and Ultima
like, those are recurring FF-staples and were previously the final bosses of this exact content before it was redone
yes they're just reskins, but it's "major" rather than "here's some Fomor or whatever"
Reskins = not major, didn't you know? It's not like the V25s changed the game in any meaningful way...

C'mon Byrth, let your imagination go wild. There's a cap and maybe there's a SECOND SECRET CAP - say, losing 10,000 units to the aether. Maybe 100,000! Speculating nonsense is half the fun.

Keeping it abstract and unknown motivates players to engage with all sorts of random content you otherwise wouldn't. If they outright say that a few pieces of content don't effect it, the people who might've been doing that content won't.
Brings back some of the mystery / group collaboration / problem-solving from the old era too. I kind of like that they kept it this way.
In addition to this, I like that they have a (probably unreachable) rank 10. It gives a reason for people to keep striving.
Avereith and I did a bunch of crazy stuff earlier in this thread and then SE revealed that rank 8 was the cap and we slowed down/stopped.

What happened here and what I assume most has come to the conclusion is that Nalfey in some way pissed off someone to being massreported as I doubt SE has time or the resources to skim through Github/Gitlab all day since we'd seen lot of more of these types of situations. Could also be they discussed their addons/tools in game to someone. Putting that stuff live on SE's ingame logs is a very bad idea. I remember someone (Selindrile maybe?) had a massive warning on their github for people to never contact them in game about addon questions.
https://github.com/Selindrile/GearSwap
Big multiple large warnings lol
And its solid advice
I remember doing dyna with a friend a while back, and he posts in game "the bots ran in", live on the chat logs. I was not entertained.
It’s been a while since I was cribbing any code from here but I’m pretty sure it was Selendrile that went to the length of detecting if any users of his luas were sending him a /tell and doing a best effort detection of if the tell contained any references to 3rd party tools and blocking it.
I thought it was pretty hilarious but yeah, solid advice to keep anything out of game chat logs. I feel like people have become MUCH more complacent to this in recent years whereas back when you didn’t even mention windower ever in game. Now people openly talk about luas, react, whatever

I am honestly loving it. I am seeing places and structures in the game that I didn't know existed. Grauberg(S) has a cabin in the SW quadrant that I have never seen before.

The reason for caps like that is so that they don't have to keep track of an arbitrarily large number, so they probably wouldn't implement a cap and then track an arbitrarily large number anyway.

They really need a tracker, NPC or progress bar. Based on reading this thread I should be Rank 4 lol. I'm rank7 without any effort put into titles or RoE (under 500)

I still keep an optimistic attitude that one day SE will surprise me and add Chemist to the game as a playeable healer job. I’m the “glass is half full” type.

Quetzalcoatl.Wakmidget said: »TECHNICALLY, they do have potential to add new jobs to the game still. Chemist actually exists in FFXI. (If only in trust form as Monbereaux, but still exists.) I think it would be a neat addition to the healer line-up of jobs as we don't have many pure healers.
A 2-handed hammer job might be neat as well, whether it be a tank or a DD, maybe we could call it Colossus? Honestly I think it might be better as a tank-type job if they could do something unique with it. A third option for tank job might kind of neat. Getting flashbacks of the 20th anniversary insanity. There is a zero percent chance this game will ever see a new expansion. New zones does not mean expansion. Two new zones were just recently implemented: Silver Knife and Gwora - Corridor. This should give you an idea of what to expect out of future new zones.

Post Limbus they said they'll be doing some trust changes.
Specifically, what they've told us is coming next is Ultima and Omega in December. Final Besieged update in January, including new gear from the besieged accolades. Nothing stated for February at the moment. And the first part of the Trust update in March.
The second part of the trust update apparently has no set date yet as they are still discussing what kind of update it'll be apparently. The part we are getting in March though will be some kind of "class" upgrades that we do by feeding them RP we get by logging in (they're quite taken with getting daily login metrics up) and doing stuff in game. No AI changes. That might be what they are discussing for the second part.
The trust icons lay out that the "classes" are tanks, melee dds, ranged dds, magic dds, healers, support, and the geo bubble trusts. So they system they'll be adding will boost all trusts in one of those groups as you pump whatever parameter it'll be up with RP.
My guess is tanks will have options like enmity+ and -dt. Melee dds will have stuff like haste and acc, ranged dds, snapshot and racc, magic dds, fast cast and macc. Healers would have stuff like fast cast and cure potency, support would hopefully have buff duration up. As for the geo bubble trusts, they're so limited, I'm not sure what they can have other than buff boosts/bubble size.

Carbuncle.Maletaru said: »Quote: This makes me optimistic that if I do one thing I will ding rank 9.
The same quote everyone has been saying for 60 pages (rank 8 before, now it's the exact same for 9). Then when they don't rank up, they say it again about a different bit of content. Rinse and repeat. Everyone I know SWEARS they're just barely under the next rank.
Idk, lol. I have done a lot of stuff in this game. I was worried that it was impossible to hit 9 without beating 4 master trials. As long as it is possible with only 3, then I am necessarily close.
The gaps in my achievements line up well with Liam's, so I kind of must be close.
Not picking on you, specifically (it's why I didn't use the direct quote with your name), I just think it's hilarious how every other post is "I must be just one more title/quest/craft/HTBF away from the next rank" comments in general.
