Yes, except it's every 4 weeks, not every week. And yeah all 4 chests are the same quality per zone (tem and apoll)

How buffed are you when referring to the number of WS it takes for a Limbus mob? Usually I'm solo on DNC with Sylvie, Koru and Ulmia and even on just 119 I find many enemies take 3 WS (3x Rudra or Evis + 2x Rudra, doesn't really matter) to kill unless it is piercing weak or weak/unresistant to dark SC (or I have Climactic of course). My WS gear is fairly complete except for two pieces of R15 Nyame and I'm using an R0 Aeneas and Centovente. I suppose I could try ditching Ulmia for Qultada and just putting on some more +dual wield gear.

I also tried BRD in Apollyon yesterday and that went alright, it was convenient to be able to sleep everything but it still took 2x Kasha > Savage using Ayame to get most kills. BRD isn't as geared as DNC but does have +7 Minuets, +4 Honor March and reasonable WSD from R15 Nyame and accessories.

Probably just solo problems lol.

I dont have aria or any sortie gear, but it takes me 3 ws's to kill a 135 mob, and thats including 1 light sc. (m)honor/min 5 4 3 herc etude geo frailty fury, no dia. I only do 30-35k ws's. So that seems on track for your 119, doubt i'd up that. Might be slower if you raised it though

It depends what you're fighting.

Both Apollyon and Temenos are elementally-aligned, Apollyon being dark-based, and Temenos being light-based. As such, Apollyon mobs have a 50% darkness resistance (easily verifiably by Dread Spikes, it will never absorb more than half of a melee hit), and Temenos presumably has a 50% light resistance. As such, most Apollyon mobs in my observation take decent to good light skillchain damage. Whereas most Temenos mobs resist Light element skillchains, and mobs like Sahagin outright negate most magical damage if they have Shell + Bubble Armor (I have seen them take 0 damage). So it really depends what you are fighting and what SC you're making. Judging from the fact you mentioned Rudras and Evisc and Piercing Weak (which would be flying Wasps Gnats Flies etc), sounds like Apollyon, which is a dark-aligned zone . So those mobs natively will take less darkness SC damage, which could be why killing them is slower for you.

Aeneas is an okay mainhand, but when I said 2-shot 119 mobs, I was using Ruthless Stroke x2 (which is Fusion?), or any of SAM's hybrid WS (both create light-aligned SCs) or Fudo > Fudo, in Apollyon. Even on 135 as SAM (which I haven't done in a long time cuz it takes forever), I can occasionally 2-shot mobs in Apollyon with Hoxne+Jinpu damage. Ironically, my hybrid damage on NIN (all dark-aligned) does terribly in Apollyon. So I think in your case, you could be just getting flat out resisted. Besides that, probably also running into a gear issue with Aeneas/R15 Nyame. Twashtar would be better for Rudras of course.

Your trust setup is fine, and with Box Step 5 instantly should be like 12~13% DEF down, you'll have a weak Fury/Frailty from Sylvie (recall her to reset her Entrust timer when it falls off), capped haste via Haste2+March from Koru/Ulmia, and Dia3 from Koru.

Are you using Climactic+Rudras, and Building+Rudras otherwise? 119 mobs don't have a ton of defense either. They should die relatively quickly, which is why many of us suggest bumping up to 125 since there's virtually no difference in kill speed.

As far as bard goes, I have tried it, and having 5-songs fulltime opens up a ton of flexibility for trust options (Qultada/Koru/flex), and allows you to easily sleep everything. You do have to stop and resing occasionally, but that's fine. BRD will get TP way slower than normal DDs though, but with the ability to have your own songs, it kind of evens out. Two Savages should kill everything at 119 with Naegling+TP Bonus OH. Do HM 3 Minuet Herc Etude and let Koru handle your Haste II. With Qultada, your attack is pretty high for 119.

Me + RDM alt + Sylvie + Ulmia + COR Trust.

I'm either on WAR or BLU, though I prefer WAR most of the time. Two Fimbulvetr's and the monsters are dead at LV125, at 135 it takes 3 or even 4.

Hate to be that guy but that's not those skillchains work, due to sketchy JP translation. Tranxfixion is the SC that does "Light" damage, and Compression is what does "Dark" damage.

What we call "Light" is really Level 3 Light which does Fire, Thunder, Wind and Light damage. The element the target get the lowest resistance too will be chosen, if they are all the same then it use's a priority order. This is the same for "Dark", it's Ice, Water, Earth and Dark damage.

If you are fighting an Aern in Tenemos and do a two step "Light" SC, it will chose Fire damage as that takes priority over Wind or Thunder and the Aern is highly resistant to light. If instead you do a "Darkness" SC, then it'll Dark damage instead of Ice as even though Ice has a higher priority, the Aern has lower Dark resistance. This can be tested and validated with elemental damage boosting effects.

At 119 Temenos solo with Arciela / Ulmia / Sylvie on WAR it takes 2 1500TP Savage Blades for me to kill most enemies. I have tried solo setups with lots of different jobs (MNK, DRK, DRG, SAM) and WAR tends to WS the hardest without actual player buffs. If My SAM had a finished Doji or Masamune then that would probably be better but those are still works in progress. It would probably still be 2 Fudos + the light skillchain damage, though. That being said...

...realistically you should set your level to 123/124/125 though as the enemies are not particularly harder but you get almost double the points. You should only be doing 119 if you just purely need matters.

Same setup as above and it only becomes 3 Savage Blades per mob, total time spent is only about 8 - 9 minutes more per full run for double the points at 125. This is where SAM with a weapon worth a damn will likely pull ahead as the 2 WS + skillchain will likely kill in this setup at 125.

I'm soloing 119 for speed / convenience to hit 4/4 runs + ??? per zone each week since I'm near capped on points and on the lower side of augmenting.

This week I went 2/5 and 1/5 on matters, and 2 of the 3 came from 5k chest.

Does 119 effect drop rates on chest or is this grind just that crappy?

It's not even close. We farmed 15 ITG post update without a pop. It eventually popped a few days later for someone else.

Are we really sure it's "just" a X% chance for the ??? to pop each time you kill the ITG?
Couldn't it be that you need to kill it AND there's another condition to be fulfilled?
A condition that's different for Apollyon and Temenos and that for some reason is more commonly active in Apo than the Teme one.
Would explain a lot of things, no?

Because if it's "just" a X% for the ??? to pop after each kill then quite obviously is much higher in Apo and Teme and I see no reason why they would make it that way AND leave it that way after so many times they claimed to have "adjusted" something about the ??? pop in Temenos.

This week was my best week so far for Matters in the last 13 months.

Temenos: 5k Chests X5
Apollyon: 5k Chests X3, 1 3k with Matter and 1 with no Matter.

I'm interested to know if you guys have a set order/routine to opening the chests.
I do the same set of 4 chests each week after Tally and 1 random which I've changed slightly.
i.e
Apollyon:
1st SE
2nd NE
3rd SW
4th NW
For the 5th chest, I open the first chest that failed to give me a Matter. I do the same for Temenos, starting from Central > Northern.

I write the wings that don't give me a 5k in my Bazaar and then erase the message when I do get 5k. If I get a 5k in that wing, I usually repeat that box for the next opening and do it in whatever reverse order, unless the final wing is a possible then I just do it there.

It's a meaningless routine, though, just like trove order. All you have to do is rotate wings and the rest is random/out of your control.

I just have a google doc spreadsheet my friend made we share access to with all the Temenos + Apollyon wings setup in boxes with our names next to the rows. If chest does not give 5k, that wing's box gets marked red for that character. When bonus is found, clear all boxes for that character.

As far as chest opening order when starting from a fresh cycle after finding bonus, I don't really have a set order; I just open whatever chest is at the wing my current run is ending on, then begin the tracking anew.

A few months ago, someone in my LS was trying different methods to pop the Temenos ??? and from what I recall, he went something like 3/3 in spawning the ??? When killing the ITG mob with a Quick Draw that matched the element of the current day. Obviously anecdotal + small sample size, and wouldn't be the ONLY condition to spawn the ??? (given that people are able to spawn it without using magic at all), but i found that interesting.

Perhaps I missed it if it was mentioned here, I was out of town during the patch so I'm only getting to do these new runs now, but did no one notice they changed the kill formulas for Temenos??

Tem C (4 floors) and Apy SW&SE (also 4 floors) were 7 kills each with a party of 6. With data I was able to use with my friends accounts, I was able to establish the kill count formula was =ceil((4.5 * players) / floors), and it worked for both zones. This formula doesnt work in Temenos anymore. I dont have a full formula to account for larger party sizes, but Temenos NEW (4 floors) are 6 kills for a pt of 6, central is 8 kills for its 3 floors, suggesting the formula is closer to =ceil((4 * players) / floors)

When sub-6, it's not based on the number of players at all, as far as I can tell. I've done lots of runs eith 3, 4, 5, and 6 players and they all require the same number of kills as far as I can tell?

I believe the number of kills only changes when you get into alliance territory.

They did change all the kill counts for temenos when they changed the floor counts.

When augmenting armor, which Units does each Rank pull from? Is it aligned to the zone you're in, or you can choose which Units to use? If it's the former and you start augmenting a piece using one zone's units, can you go to the other zone and use those too? It's unclear how that part works, unless im misreading the wiki.

3+3 trusts = 6
4+2 trusts = 6
5+1 trust = 6

Trusts count in the scaling for limbus, my 2box + 3 trusts in the new temenos NWE towers is only 5 kills, same for apollyon NW and NE, when I've taken a 3rd ls member + 3 trusts those areas bump up to 6 kills required. I've also told a friend who would 4box with trusts to drop a trust and the kills required changed to match mine going 4box + 1 trust.

Central remains 8 kills, I haven't tested less than 5 (including trusts)

For anyone who 3-5boxes limbus, drop a trust and save yourself 12 kills in temenos and 10 kills in apollyon, speed up those climbs!

Interesting, so that suggests its not a fixed formula across the zone the way it used to be. Kills = ceil((4.5 * players) / floors) worked in old temenos and apollyon with a party size of 6 or an alliance of 15.

I took my chars to Temenos to look at how much the bar grows per kill. I only did one kill for everything less than a party of 6, so the percentages may have not-visible decimals
North
2 chars = 23%
3 chars = 22~23% - the 2 chars went from 23 to 46, but the 3rd char added only went up 22)
4 chars = 21%
5 chars = 20%
6 chars = 18~19% - Char 3 gained 19 going from 63 to 82, Char 4 gained 19 going from 41 to 60, char 5 and char 6 gained 18, chars 1 and 2 filled bar). The next kill Char 4 gained 18 (60 to 78), Chars 5 and 6 gained 19 (38 to 57, 18 to 37). Its likely 18.5%

Central
2 chars = 15
3 chars = 15 (again)
4 chars = 14~15% - Char 1 and 2 went from 30 to 45, Char 3 went from 15 to 29, Char 4 got 14
5 chars = 13%
6 chars = 12.5% (I know this from existing data)

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I cant think of a formula that works for both areas based on that information. If I did this again, I'd do two kills with every party size to help make the hidden decimal stick out more.

Didn't someone in this thread already posted the correct formula several months ago? Before last patch of course.
If I remember it wasn't "# of kills", but each kill gives a certain amount of points and this amount is different on every tower (floor?).
So counting kills is almost the same, but not exactly the same.

Pretty confident SE didn't change the formula, probably just adjusted some of its values.

Dude what?

They very clearly changed the formula.

Apollyon SW and SE (4 floors) is 7 kills for a pt of 6. Old Temenos C (4 floors) was 7 kills for a pt of 6.
New-Temenos NEW is 4 floors, and its 6 kills for a pt of 6.

Provided no one in the party/alliance is an idiot and has the wrong CL set, the number of kills is derived by number of floors and party size. In the event that someone has the incorrect CL set and people arent getting full credit per kill, the formula breaks as its not accounting for that, but that is a skill issue and most people shouldnt be dealing with that.

Also, its not "different every tower / floor". Temenos NEW in a party of 6 is 6 kills on N1/2/3/4, W1/2/3/4, E1/2/3/4. It doesnt change.
