I'm still chipping away at NG+ Hard mode but it's nice that they are adding things like outfits for free when you know for a fact they could charge $20 for this and laugh all the way to the bank.

Shift Up postpones IPO, with its overdependence on NIKKE raising concerns about its sustainability
https://gameworldobserver.com/2024/06/13/shift-up-ipo-delayed-nikke-success-concerns
This has to be one of the most braindead things I've ever seen, why would a company that makes booba and *** games go public? I don't get how stupid this guy that owns the company has to be.
If they go public, major investors will demand they censor their games and that will alienate the fanbase and they will destroy the company.
Why are people so stupid, I don't get it. It has to be a cultural thing, where they actually don't know how completely broken the western investor system is for entertainment.
Anyone that invests in this company if it goes public wants to lose their money, there is literally no other way it will go.
By Afania 2024-06-17 11:37:09
Why is it stupid?
1) Kim owns 45% of shares so he still has majority of control to the company. Tencent owns another 24% so combined together that's already over 60%.
Even if western investors buy all the remaining shares they won't be able to do much.
2) Going public = higher share price = Kim gets wealthier. Plus more potential to grow the company. In the case that he decided that he no longer be in charge he can sell them for $$.
No matter how I see it it is a beneficial situation for Kim. He can choose to continue to be the person in charge in the company or make more money.
The only person "losing" here are the internet haters lol. And those people probably don't even own any shares. So if Kim and SU lose potential money from more investors it doesn't hurt haters one bit anyways.
You just want the world to work the way you want, and get angry if it doesn't lol.

Why are people so stupid, I don't get it
There are generally many benefits of companies going public: it is easier to get money needed for growth. And it generally give a company a more positive image in the society. It easier to recruit talented people as "big company". It also benefits share holders as they can sell shares more quickly.
Lastly it is common in tech industry that employees get shares as their bonus. So that means more money for the employees too.
Hell, since going public= everyone can buy. That means the profit of a company can now be obtainable by everyone in the society.
(You have no idea how many average people's retirement money and tax came from public company stock trading. A successful public company often benefits more average citizens than private ones because profit goes to more people's pocket.)
Only anti-woke cares about minor things like "less *** and boobs in our future games". OH NO!

I like when the female characters in games have boobs and booty and other general feminine features.
How come all the "games for a modern audience" have absolutely no problem making attractive male characters, but all the female characters end up with a masculine hip:waist ratio, masculine jawlines, A cup chest, pancake booty, etc etc? I'd have an easier time buying into the idea that "its hard to get the female features correct" if the issue existed with the male characters as well, but its not.
How come the Eastern video game artists have no problem making female characters with feminine features but all the Western ones are not able to get it done? Is this a skill issue or is there something else foul at play?

That's what I dislike about anime style games in general though. It makes zero sense to fight in high heel shoes and skirts and yet they are frequent in anime style games. It breaks immersion whenever I see that kind of design.
Most of the video games have combat system, and fighting is a big part of activity for main characters. So it makes perfect sense to look somewhat "manly" if a female character is supposed to fight.
Go google female boxers image. That's how a female fighter should look like.
If a game isn't grounded in realism then it is immersion breaking. For me at least.
As for male characters, there are significant amount of ugly male characters in the gaming industry. Disco Elysium and Lisa: the painful has ugly(and loser) male characters and make them the main selling point. I would say that Kratos from God of War also isn't all that good looking.
But people give them a pass because it is okay to play as an ugly male characters but totally not okay with ugly female characters. I think most gamers definitely have higher beauty standard if their playable character is female.

I get the general point you're tryin to make and I actually agree with it and with the examples you provided, I'm sure there's more that don't come up to my mind right now.
But Kratos?! I mean, he's pretty hot! "Ugly" where exactly?
I mean if someone's standard for male beauty is BTS from korea or any generic twink then I get how you could consider Kratos ugly, but other than that he's not?
Call it toxic masculinity, a gym rat, whatever else, but deffo not created to appear "ugly" like the examples you made with Disco Elysium etc.
Even though I guess the right word there probably shouldn't be "ugly" but something else like, uhm, "divergent from widespread western male beauty canons". I feel that was more their intent rather than simply creating something "ugly".
But... we could argue it's a subtle difference, the result is pretty similar in the end
tl;dr
I agree with pretty much everything you said but Kratos is hot and not ugly!

There are a few reasons
The main one is feminist investors, it's really that simple and that's why it's only women that gets made to look unappealing. There are many rich women and investment managers now that actively invest in problematic companies in order to demand they make changes they want to see. Compare Mortal Kombat to Street Fighter to see the difference, mingers in MK vs hot characters in SF.
Investors always get what they want over customers, cause the CEO is directly responsible and firable by the investors. Very often they don't even care about losing money, cause they are so mind broken all they care about is the cause.
This is why movies and video games made in the west show women as unappealing as possible (even though that is a really stupid idea, cause men are hard wired genetically to be visual and like good looking women in the things they buy) and why the east still does it the way customers like. This is changing as more of these investors now start looking at those companies though, since they are so influential due to the western video game industry floundering.
Also there is pressure from social media applied directly to the developers, who are afraid of making sexy female characters. Cause they will be immediately targeted, and potentially have fake allegations made against them if they do. The great thing about fake allegations made by women is they don't have to prove them at all and only the allegation alone can get someone fired, cause companies are so afraid of any negative pressure damaging the stock price of the company they will just fire them to fix the problem.
The last one is DEI hiring practices, in the east game dev is still dominated by men (and the women who are devs there are good at their job and not forced hires) and so they make what men like in video games and the products are very successful because of it. In the west there are lots of women with a chip on their shoulder inserted into these dev teams, that complain and so the male developers have to make worse products to keep them happy.
Look at the state of the new Dragon Age game for instance, do you think the developers don't know the characters in the new Dragon Age are utter mingers and that will kill sales?
By Afania 2024-06-18 07:34:13
but Kratos is hot and not ugly!
Young Kratos from earlier games can be considered hot maybe. But old Kratos from newer games looks like 45-50 yr old dude. Age has a negative effect on the look after all.
Imagine game dev make a female character that looks like a 40-50 year old. You will get a drastically different reaction from the community.
By Afania 2024-06-18 07:50:27
Compare Mortal Kombat to Street Fighter to see the difference, mingers in MK vs hot characters in SF.
Mortal combat is a poor example to argue DEI. It existed since 1993 and characters looked like mingers since 1993. Are you going to argue that DEI was a thing in 1993?
Characters from MK2 in 1993:
The character design style aren't even all that different from 3D MK today.
Characters from BG2 in 2000.
Blaming DEI for ugly characters in western game is just silly. Western game was never full of super models even in the 90s. It's really how western dev design characters since forever. I am not saying DEI has zero influence on the look. But I don't think it is the only reason behind ugly characters if ugly characters in games existed for 30+ years.
I would say we don't need western artists to "anime-fy" their characters. We have Japanese Koreans and Chinese all making super models in every game already. Do we need anymore anime pretty characters? If people can tolerate MK2 in 1993 then people can tolerate MK mingers today.
It's all anti-woke overreacting.....

If a game isn't grounded in realism then it is immersion breaking. For me at least. Ah, so you need realism or its immersion breaking. Aloy putting on 50 pounds then should be immersion breaking for you. Someone who essentially is doing parkour and climbing for hours on end every day should be fit, not chubby.
Young Kratos from earlier games can be considered hot maybe. But old Kratos from newer games looks like 45-50 yr old dude. Age has a negative effect on the look after all. Funny how they were able to nail all these features of a male demigod that is still susceptible to aging, albeit at a slower rate.

Aloy is chubby?????
We definitely have different pov on the meaning of that word.
I googled chubby female characters and this is what I got.
I googled Aloy and this is what I got:
How are they even the same?
If you expect a character in a rpg with exploration and combat mechanics looks even less chubby than Aloy like anime girls, it will enter the terrory of VERY unrealistic character design.
Honestly there are thousands and thousands of nsfw games featuring sexy ladies and nsfw scenes. If you have such need you can play those. Why kill realism for sex need in sfw games?

Ehh ... none of that is true. Investors do not give a damn and most do not even play video games, they just want to see retirement accounts go up. They are not even seeing the gaming company specifically, but just some blended index fund managed by someone like Fidelity or Vanguard. I know you have a hard on for anyone investing, but they absolutely are not responsible for this.
Quote: Also there is pressure from social media applied directly to the developers, who are afraid of making sexy female characters. This is far closer to the truth of the matter. A very tiny portion of the population has an over represented voice and use's it to attempt to enact social change. Almost every social media company either started or HQ'd in the exact same location of the US, a location know to be extremely sensitive to the topics of femininity of masculinity. They have a loud voice and "cancel culture" spurred game producers into hiring outside consulting firms to advise them on things to do to avoid attracting unwanted attention from the social bogymen. Firms like Sweet Baby Inc, Black Girl Gamers and a few others. These firms get involved in a project and immediately start giving recommendations to the management that then get turned into marching orders to the creators.
This is a direct quote from BGG about gamers and the gaming industry.
Quote: Gamers that thought the industry revolved around them and their comforts are now realizing it doesn’t.
When you combine this kind of insane anti-customer recommendations with the generic copy paste formula that all high budget products follow, the results are usually a disaster. This is what spurred the creation of a game like Stellar Blade which laughed in the face of the DEI nonsense. The only concession they had to make was the last minute costume changed forced by Sony, and it was forced since SB was already in an exclusive agreement and couldn't tell them no. That by the way is why you never enter into exclusive agreements.

This isn't NYSE, it's KRX and they seriously do not care what non Koreans think. It's not open for you or anyone over on this side of the pond to buy from. South Korea has a very ... different view of private economic investments, and they don't have anywhere near the same regulations as the SEC or the BS we have here. They just decided to delay listing on the KRX until they have a better position to attract a higher price, which is smart, otherwise they might get crushed by the likes of Nexon.

When big boobs were everywhere 20+ years ago feminist groups were outraged, they said it was encouraging women to get boob jobs and wanted depiction of them removed from all forms of media. Once they got enough power they literally outlawed them from all forms of media in the west, to the point you almost never see them anymore at all. Movies, video games, adverts, tv shows..everything are afraid of adding any depiction of women with big boobs, like they will get arrested if they do.
How did that happen, to the degree it is today?
It's interesting that there is an almost total blackout on that, cause they say it creates an unrealistic body standard for women and nobody cares about showing obvious steroid bloated action stars.
So it's not about caring about people having unrealistic body standards, it's purely about ideology from a bunch of middle aged women who have power and are willing to use it in a way men are not.
The only place you will see big ol biddies now is Twitch, and the reason none of these feminists address that is because women are making money from men doing it. So it's fine, it's only an issue when it's men making money from it. (this is also why Vtuberers actually do get addressed and banned on Twtich, cause men made the avatars)

Go google adult content games on steam. Women with big boobs are everywhere. It just that when a sfw game focus on other aspects (like gameplay, story) those aren't nearly as important as people thinks
If you only pay attention to 5-10 games in the entire industry per year and ignored 99% of other games in the market of course you are going to have biased opinion on that.

I found 14 Korean game companies that has gone public. Took me 10 sec Google search.
Just use common sense. How come Korean game industry giants with thousands of employees like Nexon, NCSoft, Netmarble or Gravity never gone public? Of course they all do.
Funny how you are never get angry at all of the public companies listed above but gone nuts because SU wants to become the next game industry giant like them.

NCSoft is a Korean public company(KRX: 036570) with 3000+ employees.
VERDICT: going public will not kill boobs because NCSoft didn't. Radial is going nuts over non-existent crisis again.

This is false by the way. Pretty sure most of the investors in the world invest because want their retirement money. They are not some rich ideologists sitting in their office throwing away their money for ideology.
In certain countries (South Korea especially) buying and trading stock is a very popular activity because 1) you can make more money than what your job pays you. 2) If you can not work due to health issues or you retired, your investment is what generates money and put food on your table.
Most investors in the world are just average person like me or you who invest for financial security. But you really like to imagine they are something else like "rich feminists that don't care about losing money". If such people exists they have to be in the extreme minority compare with large amount of average people who invest purely for retirement.
Please, next time chat with some real people about topics that you don't know before making assumptions with your imagination

Yes going on the KRX is no where near like the NYSE, very very different financial system. In the US, hyping your product as "the best thing ever", quickly doing an IPO and cashing out is how the founders join the billionaire class. In Korea it's how you get your company wrecked by the competition who will use the opportunity to get rid of you.
By RadialArcana 2024-06-19 00:58:58
If they do end up going ahead with this I think they will be irrelevant in 5 years, when they could have gone ahead and been a market leading game developer like Fromsoft or Larian.
Companies that put the customer first are going to dominate in a way a company that puts the investor first will not, very often these public companies coast on past victories and brands when they were customer first orientated.
Going public for a video game company does not make your company better or create better products in a way a company making real world goods would. You can't invest that money into things that make a better product, you just invest it into making a new game. Then if that game flops you went public and sold your soul for nothing.
Krafton is practically dead as a company now, and they deserve to be in that position.
This is a leaked (it was on the ps store for 20 mins before being taken down) demo of Stellar Blade. It's trying so hard to be Nier Automata and I'm here for it, it looks pretty good so far (even though the guy playing it seems to be potato powered and can't block). The music especially is amazing, art style is great too though and I like the idea of the story (aliens took over the planet, humanity fled and created these androids to fight for them).
Hope the demo gets released officially soon.
