Stupid, inaccurate examples that will take me a few seconds to debunk. Steve King was not "abandoned" until the GOP was in the minority and removing him from committees no longer mattered. He got away with racist rhetoric for over a decade and not even a slap on the wrist.

Remember, the beauty of lying under oath is that you can’t get convicted of perjury for making a statement that nobody can disprove. On the other hand, without a recorded conversation it’s almost impossible to prove too. That’s where the credibility of the witness comes in, and that was just screwed by the fact that he now has a monetary incentive to repeat whatever he stated in his book.
