Just me, or did the people in charge of ad placement over at the wiki just say "screw the users, lets fill this place with ads!" Bad enough there is a redirect page that you have to hit before coming to ffxiah.com from that site... now they've swapped ad placement with content placement.

Q, if you have an ad block prog does it work well on the ffxi wiki?

I hate ads, but when the "webmasters" go and blast them in your face I start to hate the site...

As for ads on ffxiah.com, they're kinda tasteless at times... but at least they aren't blasted in my face like they are becoming over at the wiki

I just hate how I get the never ending clicky ones. I randomly get the anti-virus one and it won't close unless I close my web browser. I got No Script for Firefox and I never had a problem again.

After logging in to the wiki, i notice a huge decline on the ads. When not logged in I see a lot of ads that block things, fly across the screen and what not.

I haven't installed No Script until a couple weeks ago when I was getting fed up with all these random ads coming up. The wiki problem is the main reason I installed No Script.

You can set it to unblock all scripts for what sites you want it set like that. I just hated the 2+ days spent clicking unblock for each site I visited.

Haven't tried the logging into the wiki... does that get rid of the redirect page before coming here? You know, when you click on the "AH" link from an item description page.

Pretty sure it does. I am always logged into Wiki for a different skin and less adds, and I never see the redirect page when clicking on the AH link for an item.

Heh, Wardens, you should probably stab yourself for using IE..

I've used Firefox for years.. Lately, I've been using Chrome.. Unfortunately, Chrome still has its share of issues, so I still default to Firefox now and then.. Even so, my speeds on Chrome far outweigh the issues..

Only thing I use IE for is logging onto my ePayroll stuff.. Only functions for IE ; ;

If there's anything I miss about Firefox, though, it's the plugins..

and fck everyone (minus rylis) who makes fun of IE ;P just bc i'm the only IT guy I know who sticks with it doesn't mean anything..

i think i'll start using Bing because i suck at life for using IE or w/e. lol

and I don't use plug-ins or add-ons. so i don't see a point in switching.

LMAO xD that was good...

and i like the part that says: "Take note that doing this can actually make certain pages run slower. However, it has potential to make much more pages load faster."

But I'll have to take a look at that page when I feel like configuring my firefox.

Well, that's because you haven't used any to realize how helpful they are >.>

However, not all browsers are created equally..

First, IE's security is.. Questionable.. Firefox, especially with add-ons like Noscript and adblock and the like, is actually quite a bit more secure.. Chrome is.. Okay. Better than IE, but not quite up to Firefox on security..

As far as speed, though.. IE is the slowest.. Chrome is probably the fastest browser, right now.. Firefox is only a small amount behind, however, depending on your actual connection speed, it may be more or less negligible.. Behind Firefox is stuff like Opera, Safari, etc.. My own tests had IE loading pages at least 2-4X slower than Firefox.. And about 3-5x slower than Chrome..

The benefits of Firefox to Chrome are definitely visible in the form of add-ons, plugins, and user functionality.. IE is just.. Bad.

lol well you should tell me some good ones and how to install them.

Well security isn't really that big of an issue, I seem to have very good judgement on what sites are secure or not. I never download anything or press anything on a site I don't trust. The last time I got a virus was when I was looking for a subscription key for a site on a hacker site... >.>;; good idea right? lol

lol google chrome. i will check that out as well. but until i have someone show/tell me how to upgrade my internet experience, i don't know when i'll get around to that.

my ipod touch uses safari :D

Opera behind Firefox ? Wtf ? Opera is just superior :x Most of today's browser functionality been seen on Opera first, they been innovating for a long time while others just did some copypasta.

Don't get me wrong, I like Firefox a lot and use it as my main browser (mainly because of the plugins it offers), still Opera is rock solid browser and shouldn't been categorized as "behind" firefox. For a casual plugins-less use, I would recommend Opera over FF any day. (and well even Opera got lot of customization possibilities, sure way less than firefox tho).

Opera software company ? lol What do you mean by "who made it". It's not like one man did it from A to Z.

Also Opera did create mouse gesture, which is very useful and supported natively on Opera. (can be added on firefox with a plugin). Opera did introduce "users sessions", pop-up blocker, nicknames/aliases for bookmarks, integrated search engine, voice navigation...

Opera is used on the Wii as its browser :D

On DS also, and very popular on mobile phone. Good market share on hand-held devices. Shitty on desktop computer tho :[

ewww apple.... i've heard from a couple people, "All Mac users go to hell. It's a proven fact." lol

and i meant... if it was a bigger company behind it. like safari (apple), chrome (google), internet explorer (microsoft), etc.
