I also checked Choke Breath and, I don't even know whats happening here, huge variances even on level 1 mobs. *I think* it affects it but damage was 771 195 195 With pants I did hit 781 so was a higher max but that could just be another variance.
Were you naked? Those look like either resists or more likely just things standing "far" away.
I made sure to bring the pet right up next to or on top of the mandy before "attack <wait> /bstpet #". On many of the fan shaped moves, if the mob moved either away or to the side, the damage would decrease.
Perhaps it was just them moving on you?
Mob wasn't moving though yes that seems correct even Falcorr being at his 'melee engage range' dropped damage, he has to be right on top to hit max which is..wierd but okay.
Raphie doesn't have such a huge penalty to range though I'm not sure how far away you could use Aqua Breath.
I was equiped with my Aymur so pets were highest level they could be so I doubt any resist was possible 2-3 times in a row.
If we assume that your 771 and 781 were the max without and with Breath+3, respectively... That doesn't look like it's Breath.
Since a max of 771 would become 794 with 3% Breath+.
Some of the fan range ones, especially on the Funguar, if something moved slightly to the right or left the damage would drop from 2653 to down to ~700. Which is in line with your 771/195 splits.
It can be ridic.
More using Falcorr directly ontop on Bumblebee's he just seems to have a built in variance on Choke Breath it does a bit different damage every time. 771 775 766 781 I'm going to say Breath damage doesn't work though as with pants on the damage should be closer to 800 even with variances like that.
I'm sure Falkirk already tested this but Choke Breath is affected by Fantod 4x damage 3194, so its some sort of wierd Physical conal breath attack (thats not even a breath attack), Falcorr just trying to be unique over here.

Hmmm... that's really weird that you'd get 771~781. If it's that variable; then that would indicate that it's physical.
Fantod, the BLU spell, is both +atk and +MAB. So assuming the "real" Fantod is the same, then it's not out of the realm of possibility that Choke Breath is magic... though only 8 MAB wouldn't explain a jump from 780 to 3k. (I'd assume pDIF cap just from >99 v Lv0.)
It could be that Choke Breath just combos with Fantod similar to Boost and Chi Blast.
Real fantod is way different than blu fantod. It's a direct damage boost. Similar to the ufo move.
As far as other stuff might be some day/weather playing and awhile back SE started making a lot of breath attacks (even weird ones like the bomb one from an old abyssea nm) very resistable to mobs... which ended up being great for bst because our pets would usually resist them crazy good
What you describe from choke breath reminds me of infected leech from left-handed yoko. I did do a little testing on this awhile back where i actually took damage and gathered multiple targets.
The damage is very strange. Its seems mostly fixed, with strange variations. Its like it varies as it gets out of the narrow cone shape in front of it.
Well, we get slimes as a new pet, updated coeurl and hippo, plus new crab and beetle.
Tiger is also picking up crossthrash and the gaze stun, while the hippo gets it's AOE dispel and hoof volley.
The optimism in me is hoping either the crab/beetle is a "new" type so it's updated moves aren't listed which is unlikely(still though, rhinowrecker!), or they're jobs other than PLD.
Another question is if any of the new pets provide us with buffs. The hippo giving us Fantoid would be hilarious, for example.
Bonus MACC offsets, at least a bit, the issues with Aymur/Primal Rend and Farsha/Cloudsplitter in high-level content due to BST gearing versus RNG/COR.
Okay maybe its just because I have high end gear but I've literally never had CS/PRend get resisted ever outside of like using Cloudsplitter on Titan.
Look at the macc difference in a maxed-out Leaden Salute or Trueflight set versus a max Primal Rend set. Unless you have stunning DM augments macc is an issue.
All my Augments are Dark Mattered + Stewpot if I'm only using Magic WS, Malevolence or Pangu offhand.
Taking a guess at standard COR gear Relic/Carmine+1 I'm probably on par since they need Pixie Pin.
Take a deeper look at their gear. They have a massive macc advantage over us in their sets despite hairpin. Even my COR alt has a lot more macc. JSE neck +2, ammo, AF2+3, Death Penalty.
Lynx
Naked but a Kumb with TP Bonus and MAB +20
Acc 591 Attack 590
486 evasion 636 defense
Has Chaotic Eye(1), Blaster(2), Charged Whisker(2), and Frenzy(1). Frenzy also affects master.
Can confirm that the job trait does not simply require both of you to be engaged, I think you both have to be on the hate table. Acc did not change when engaging and having pet attack something. Will test the actual values soon.
Next up is the slime.
Slime:
980 acc, 1082 attack
775 evasion, 1066 defense
Has slime toss(1), fluid spread(2) and digest(1)
Should note both of these are NQ pets, crafted myself. Lynx gave me skill ups at 105 skill, so it seems quite high up, none for slime but only did 4 synths.
My pet doesn't seem to be changing it's target. I told it to fight a sere stump, had it do Fluid Spread(Transfix), and it was getting beat on by the stuff and never stopped attacking the stump.
Nix this, just had it turn. Too bad, wishful thinking.
