I do get the tangent you were wanting to go into. I chose not to address it because I couldn't properly formulate what I wanted to get into about it.
I edited my other post, which may speak more about that other tangent, and medicine playing a role in genetic factors.

After reading this and succeeding posts, it reminded me of a previous thread. I think it was Ono who brought up cloning and what not, and the possibility of old fashioned reproduction becoming "quaint" in the future.
Personally, the thought of synthetic reproduction makes me squeamish, but who knows what the future holds?
I can already see the generations of custom offspring with traits chosen by parents in order to build their own perfect babies. This will probably be divisive and those children who have been tampered with will probably live out their lives with locked horns to 'old fashioned' babies who look down upon them as science abominations and unnatural creations.
If gender and race weren't enough we'll be throwing in modifications as a source of division.
The way I see it, the whole damn thing will come full circle like the Scientific Revolution with our crops. Eat 'organic' is now a thing again as one day have old-fashioned babies will be a thing again. We just need a few decades to play with the shiny mod-your-baby ball.

Well, the current 16-30 generation as a whole is already treating pregnancy and babies like a fashion statement anyways. So why not mod your baby as part of that fashion statement?

Injecting fetuses with pain killers?
It would have to be both "mother" and fetus, or simply the fetus, if that were the case.
For your reading pleasure #1.
For your reading pleasure #2.
For some reason it won't let me link to each PDF. Strange.
Google for the PDFs, I guess.
EDIT: Christ almighty! Oxytocin...I was wondering what sparked that joke.

Too bad genetics isn't that simple. You will never be able to modify your child to that degree. We have polygenic traits which are coded for by multiple genes, you also have genes that code for multiple proteins/traits.
Long-term wise by adjusting one trait you consequently adjust another via altruism/hithiking, so by removing one gene that is not linked whatsoever to another gene. If it was assisted by altruism in that species you effect the altruistic gene.
As far as gay goes... If you ask psychiatrists or psychologists they'll say it's a heritable trait. Then again they THINK everything is a heritable trait lol. Most geneticists don't agree with that line of thought. Homosexuality functions outside of sexual orientation, and controls population size.

Okay, so pulling excerpts from each of the studies from the PDFs would be a waste of time? Just tell me now.
Oxytocin levels, prenatally, and postpartum oxycontin and bonding don't transfer to individuals or effect their adulthood too.

That demographic (which is to say: people in their prime breeding years) have always acted like that, especially those who are comfortably surviving (which describes almost everyone in the first world).

Looking for a citation now
But considering that the 16-30 current generations have been having kids because it's popular, due to the marketing of it by shows like 16 and pregnant, instagram, and facebook, have kicked it into overgear as a way to show off, rather than to pass on genetic material. Then after a few years and the glory has passed, and reality sits in, they begin to show disdain for their own children for ruining their lives.
I guess what you're saying is roughly what I'm saying, but just different means to the same thing.
It's not even about "my friend has a baby, so I want one" or "all my friends have kids now, and I don't", it's "I want a kid because it looks so awesome on TV" like buying a new earring from a TV ad.

Is that meaningfully different from "The people at church and the neighbors will judge me if I don't start squirting out spawn"?
Virtually every woman over the age of 30 that I've met in the past 10 years asks within about 10 minutes if I'm married and virtually every straight man asks if I have kids (both get around to asking the other question, but often rather later, which I find curious). Though... that might be something unique to me? None of my friends get asked that question, but apparently something about me suggests that I should have kids to other people.
There's a pretty huge cultural undertow in spite of the educated elite quietly opting more and more to absent themselves from the gene pool, for better or worse.

There's a pretty huge cultural undertow in spite of the educated elite quietly opting more and more to absent themselves from the gene pool, for better or worse. It's certainly not unique to you. But keep in mind some people want to get to know you more personally (sometimes more personally that what feels comfortably) for various reasons.
to some it can be meaningfully different, but not entirely. I do believe they are respondent to each other in some way, but can't accurately articulate how or why.
Personally, I haven't had anyone ask me if I was married or had kids in about 5 years. It could just simply be the people I'm around, or one of the miniscule differences in our environment, that form our cultures.

I need to start breeding immediately so I can snag a reality show where me and my arrogant kids snub dumb Americans at every turn. Elitism never felt so profitable. We'll be like Duck Dynasty with liberals! Yes my children, tell America they should stop shitting up the gene pool and quit breeding immediately. Right into the camera. With a huge smile.
The ratings we'll pull in from our pompous acts of sitting on throne high should pay well enough to ensure my diaper gets changed for the last twenty years of my existence. Now to convince a woman to look at the long game here and to adopt a British accent.

Now to convince a woman to look at the long game here and to adopt a British accent. I doubt it would get much viewership. Much of reality television is built on schadenfreude (which is a big factor in why I don't watch it), even when the producers don't intend it. People like Duck Dynasty or Honey Boo Boo because it simultaneously makes them feel better about being only 96.8% moronic and slobby while also reminding them of their *** relatives.
Basically, there's a reason why MTV Cribs spent as little time as possible talking to the decadent *** and instead focused on the stupid ***they do like installing a 200" HDTV at the bottom of a pool shaped like their right testicle.

I might be able to, but have you ever seen a live birth? Whether it's a foal or an infant, the whole thing is rather slick and sudden once the breach point is reached. Oozing would be too slow, slithering is too controlled. A Lewis Carroll neologism might suit, but I lack his talent for jamming words and sounds together.

In the genes... uhu.
My 8 year old cousin was looking over my shoulder while I was reading this thread and even he couldn't believe how stupid your arguments are. Not just the gene one.
Glad at least the new generation is not as stuck up in this certain matter.

Quote: HGTV is popular with the gays, so more than a few were scratching their heads when the cable channel announced a pilot featuring two brothers, one of whom—David Benham—has distinctly anti-gay views, as Right Wing Watch reported:
Later, Benham told Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating abortion rights, no-fault divorce, legal pornography, “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and the “demonic ideologies” that he says have taken over the education system.
After a backlash on the brothers' Facebook page, HGTV cancelled Flip It Forward, which prompted its own backlash with Fox star Megyn Kelly agreeing with Family Research Counil head Tony Perkins that unlike gay people (!), the rights of Christians aren't as "protected and recognized in this country.” On Thursday, CNN’s Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter suggested this could be a thing and that Americans might perceive HGTV’s decision as a sign of intolerance toward intolerance.
“There is a risk, though, I think, of matching perceived intolerance with more intolerance,” Stelter said. “If you are someone at home who’s looking at this thinking, why are they taking away these brothers' TV show simply because of what they believe in the personal life, the answer—part of the answer to that—is diversity in the media.”
Luckily, NPR media critic Eric Deggans jumped in before the nodding CNN host closed out the segment. He disagreed with Stelter, saying that if the prospective hosts had expressed the same views about African-Americans instead of gays they wouldn’t even be having the discussion, nor would the brothers be able to find another network employer.

People should be entitled to their views, regardless of how ignorant they may be. It is when they take action in which it physically harms someone or inhibits their civil liberties that there should be consequences. This is very far from the actions of WBC. I would have liked to see such media coverage of WBC from LGBT non-profs and media outlets...just saying. People need to remember freedom of speech is a two way street, and if you are unwilling to protect that liberty for the ignorant and bigoted then freedom of speech as a concept is nothing but a sham.
