I have pondering this for quite some time. Because I can't for the life of me figure out how guys bring themselves to cheat on their wives. they put their marriage at risk, their wife's health at risk (stds), their kids at risk (magic johnson), their names, their fortunes, their entire lives. I have seen it destroy whole families so many times it's like watching a bad rerun over and over and over.
It's like watching Titanic... You already know what's going to happen and you're just waiting for the screaming. When you think about it logically, there is just not any possible positive outcome....none. In the "best" case scenario, you have an affair, (hurrah?) and the woman doesn't have any diseases or get pregnant or go psycho or blackmail you, or get heartbroken, or demand money, or stalk your wife, or demand any further attention from you whatsoever, what do you end up with? GUILT and guilt you can't possibly hope to escape. and at that point you can let it eat you up inside until it kills you or confess and shatter your wife and marriage. I think men wrap themselves up in a fantasy about how it's all going to play out. At some point, for whatever reason, they let go of reality and live in this romantic day dream. It's only a matter of time before reality comes crashing down on weakness but I have seen this a million times and I have never found a way to stop some idiot from ruining his life. It's like they just won't snap out of it until the crash happens. /snaps his fingers HELLO! IS THERE ANYBODY IN THERE!? nothing... so, let him learn the hard way I guess.... You have been consumed with self, weakness. Your thoughts and actions are purely selfish. You are thinking only of yourself and of your own foolish wants. it is a WANT, not a need, a desire of the flesh. the chirping of your primitive chimp brain held over from antiquity...telling you that you deserve more. You don't. Nothing good can come of this. The guilt alone is a hell you will never be able to escape. That's why they put the sign on the gate.... Abandon hope all ye who enter here.

Back when I was a garbage man I worked with a guy who got a second job at a beer and wine drive thru to help make ends meet while his wife was out of work having their baby. She was the cutest little red headed ball of fire you ever saw...(the baby)
Not long after he started working there he developed an attraction to a young woman that worked there as well. and lacking attention at home (because his wife was recovering from a traumatic deliver) his mind started getting away from him. We talked about it day after day for I forget how long... with me as the voice of reason and him as the lustful wraith screeching for meat... eventually he quit listening to me and gave in to his desires, AND regretted it immediately, AND found out they had gotten caught on the store's video security camera, AND both lost their jobs, AND buckled under the guilt AND confessed to his wife AND AND AND AND AND <insert picture of cute little red haired girl baby girl with tear running down her cheek, missing her daddy here> and goddamit I have seen it so many times since then I feel like I have lifetime season tickets.

Yeah, people who know how you post understand it. But do you really think others will understand you when you make replies like that? It's a known fact that several thoughts send the human mind to the topic of rape. For instance, talking about marriage is fine, but talking about extramarital relations -> rape.
Other examples: Genghis Kahn -> rape Alcohol -> rape Abortion -> rape "I'm gonna lay down and rest." -> rape Thanksgiving -> rape There are many more things that make the human brain think of rape, can you name more?

Edit: since you seem to have hit a mental wall on this one let's see if I can explain this another way. He was just talking about how when his wife goes out with another man/woman/couple. I, thinking about how ridiculous this is, said what I said to point out that ridiculousness. Just the next guy in line to plow his wife as he stands by and fawns over another girl at his place of work. Well I found a new toy to purchase on top of that the jet suit.

Yeah...So, one of my guy friends (not particularly fond of him anymore..friend casualty of a boyfriend "divorce") who married his college "sweetheart" (never was particularly fond of her anyway) notoriously ran around on her in college. It didn't stop there though.
I think the only reason he married her was an attempt to associate himself with a better circle. His family was really dysfunctional and kind of on the low-end. He has this charisma that is astounding to watch, and he can fish any drunken gal who didn't know any better within a mile radius. He's fairly successful, and when his career starting taking off, he would boast about his out-of-state conquests to anyone and everyone that would listen. His wife knew about his infidelities in college, and still shrugged it off. His wife, who teaches, came home from milling around at the grocery store picking up a few odds and ends (Why they thought they would have enough time is beyond me!) when he was in the middle of boning a co-worker while a few of us were at his house setting up for a barbecue at their house. Everyone knew what was going on when they left. My BF, at the time, and I were gabbing about how the wife hasn't done anything about it or left him while she was gone, and I was instructed never to say anything. Basically...Yelling and screaming in their bedroom, and the most awkward gathering I've ever been at. She's still with him. EDIT: I didn't like my ex-BF hanging around him either.
