Anyone ever meet their LS in person?

I'm really good friends with a LS mate I've know since 2008ish. He even moved into my neighborhood and we hang out often.

So it's even just super sketchy when you see people with R20 earrings. That's like 230k units and 21 matters spent (an intial matter is required to make the accessories). I think there must have been an exploit, since I have seen people with R20 earrings. And that would mean they've only missed getting 9 total matters...

It'd be one thing if they were just some joe blow too, but when they're also armed to the teeth with R30 and Stage 5s, it seems suspicious. What's more likely, the guy who has it all is also insanely lucky, or the guy who has it all is using whatever means necessary to be as high on the totem pole as possible?

Not to say it couldn't happen but they could have just been saving units since for many the DPS increases(which is like 95% of what people are upgrading these for) on +4's was pretty minimal, more pushing eva/meva but lack the DT that newer gear has so just not much to spend units on until now

Will quickly get capped on units doing 5 runs a week if you don't upgrade +4s.

Enough matters dropping is theoretically possible - 7 weeks (6 + current) * 5 chests a week is 35 chests.

You'd need a 57% drop rate to get 20 matters in 35 chests, not including the first guaranteed one. Average is roughly 33%.

Suspicious but not impossible for the most grindy of grinders.

Do we have any sufficiently large and high quality data for that, especially on a bigger server like Asura?

If it's 33%, the probability someone got 20 out of 35 chests is around 0.28% (a little over 1/400). Seems pretty unlikely multiple people got R20 pieces in 35 runs, since I doubt there are hundreds of people maxing out.

OTOH, if it's even 40%, that jumps to a solid 3% and it would be more surprising if nobody had.

Ls friend and his 3 chars are 20/39 on Matter in total on all his Temenos run, R15, R13 and R9.
And 11/21 in Apollyon.
Small sample but it suggests 50%.
Im not sure of my % since I dont keep track, but im Rank 7, 6 & 5 in it seems 12 runs(after checking my logs)?

This is aggregated across all servers and from the start of matter drops, all NM kills from none to all of them etc. From user reports.

101/276=36.5%

I stopped aggregating them after this. Last counted at 2025-09-29.

Including one guy that said he went 9/9 and 4/5 that I don't quite believe.

You're right, it's too small.

132/336=39% with the above.

The problem is when you aggregate you're neglecting the impact of NMs killed. It's pretty clear that if all server average is 39%, Asura/Bahamut average is greater than 39% by virtue of being effected by NMs. Without separating the data, it's a lot harder to know the impact of NM kills.

Well yeah, though separating the data has to be done by people on that server.

Phoenix reported 44/44 NM kills a while back and a grand total of two people reported their numbers on Phoenix in that time.

Where's your data bro.

Not paying the closest attention but being so new didn't every server kill every nm anyway.

Now they're slacking but it doesn't matter yet. Missing any october nms won't count until november 13th or whatever.

Wondering if the tech-savvy of these boards have an hypothesis for a strange occurring I've been experiencing.
Happened to me three times already (in different days/weeks).

No lag at all anywhere I tried (cities, outside of Jeuno, outside of Adoulin etc) but whenever I went into Limbus zones, I had a huge delay on almost all of my actions. Talking about 5-6+ seconds.

Now if we were talking about instances I could think of many possibilities, but Limbus ain't instanced in theory...
So any hypothesys on what could be goin on?

Sadly I didn't remember to check if these issues were present in the Limbus lobby as well or just in the battlezones.

i have to turn my drawdistance down a ton in Apollyon specifically because when it's set even relatively high, it'll start picking up other floors and my game gets VERY laggy as well.

dropping the drawdistance fixed the apollyon issue, and I don't really have issues in Temenos. I remember my friend saying his SteamDeck was running at like single-digit FPS when we were doing Apollyon, but idk if he was able to reduce drawdistance to fix the issue like I did.

I have draw distance to its default settings and it happened to me in temenos as well. Also it was pretty random and happened to me like three or four times, if it were tied to a setting it would happen every time I think, no?

Do spell type cast reduction stats on gear contribute to fast cast reducing recast time of spells?

for example:
cure spellcasting time reduction
song spellcasting time reduction
blue magic spellcasting reduction

On spell recast, if this gear is in your midcast set, does it act like fastcast for recast reduction?

These only affect Spellcasting time, and not recast time. There is a separate term/trait that applies to recast:

Examples:
BLU Empyrean Body +3 - Blue magic spellcasting time -16%
BLU Empyrean Hands +3 - Blue magic recast delay -16%

BLM Empyrean Head +3 - Elemental magic casting time -18%
BLM Empyrean Body +3 - Elemental magic recast delay -16%

BRD Empyrean Head +3 - Song spellcasting time -16%
BRD Empyrean Legs +3 - Song recast delay -10

Spellcasting gear in your midcast won't reduce your recast time, but "Recast Delay" gear does.

https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/WS_Wall

So if each person is spamming their own respective ws
Does these people individually need to rotate

I was under the impression that the 10 second rule which changed in 2022 was still in effect

My understanding as it was explained somewhere here (based on JP comment) is that your WS is nerfed based on how many times it occurs in the last 5 WS/blood pacts used against the mob. So, if two people rotate WS it'll usually be:
WS1 -> WS2 -> WS1 -> WS2 -> WS1 -> WS2, and each use will have 2 prior uses (-25%)

if 4 people rotate, you have WS1->WS2->WS3->WS4->WS1->WS2 which typically only includes one prior use (10%)

if you are the only person wsing, you still need to rotate at least 2 ws(preferably more) or you'll be sitting at the -85% for having 5 consecutive matching WS in the prior 5.. i don't think there's a time component any more

Ive seen many mentions that it's true.

Ive seen zero proof, despite how simple it would be.
(just spam wildfire, 100% same damage drop each time, then step/jump/nuke/voke see if it goes back up or stays bottomed out. 5 minute task)

1st WS full damage, 2nd WS -10%, 3rd WS -25%, 4th WS -40%, 5th WS -60%, 6th WS -85%

One of two things will happen:
10k > 9k > 7.5k > 6k > 4k > 1.5k > 1.5k > nonwsaction > 1.5k
Or
10k > 9k > 7.5k > 6k > 4k > 1.5k > 1.5k > nonwsaction > 4k

Well doing v25s it's very apparent when the wall is engaging but I still don't fully get it
Like I understand it better due to the article and the posts

Example
Being Blu on mboze
My starting dmg is ~40k+ with expac
Depending on debuffs etc

And then it hovers around 30k sometimes drops to 25k 20k
Which made me wonder if I am just spamming it too much or I need to alternate myself as well

I get such tunnel vision on this fight with so many responsibilities
But the Regen on this fight sub 40 is such a challenge
The wall can really break you

Unless you have Prime Sword for BLU, I'm not sure what you would rotate Expiacion with. Savage Blade is already being used by the BRD+COR (unless someone is using Fast Blade II). WAR is probably on Calamity, BST (if he's participating in DPS) is on Mistral Axe (Can Blitz or Onslaught if you have those WS, but it's already unique so doesn't matter as far as Wall damage cut is concerned). BLU is already doing it's part in that fight with it's own unique WS, and you have Tomahawk plus resets to help break up some of the damage cut from the Wall or Mboze's native -DT.

In my experience, time or the wall isn't much of a factor in Mboze V25, it's making sure a TP move never gets off (assuming you soften him up in KI1). You have 4-5 WS going off constantly, so you're going to get a -10% WS reduction at most just off of the two Savage Blades going off. The DPS you should be doing would be higher than whatever Regen Mboze has with 2 adds.

Mewing lullaby counts. I'm not sure if that means all blood pacts do, only blood pacts with a damage value (the field is used in mewing's packet even if it's not damage), or just mewing for some reason. Note that job abilities and WS are under the same category in many of the game's systems, so they might be combined.

I would think it's the same wall everywhere, and someone would've noticed if steps worked on Aminon. What about things like violent flourish and shield bash, though? They do damage, I'd most like to see testing on that.

Went into dyna for a quick check. Spammed spirits within at 3000 (1750 with thibron/moonshade if it matters) until damage stopped reducing. Tried steps, flourishes, every debuff I had on RDM, and elemental quick draw. Damage didn't go back up at all. Myth busted.

If your Expiacion damage is going down it's another factor, not the wall. Maybe your lobby bubbles came off, maybe def down wore off, or dia 2 came off, an attack down aura came up, or 100 other things.

Nobody can diagnose it from this thread, but if I had to guess either your other DD are asleep at their keyboards, you're not casting enough, or you are not noticing some other factor.

Or maybe some combination of all the the above.

RE: the double regen sub-40%, it will slow down your damage somewhat, but with the right application of 1hrs, JAs, and everyone consistently doing damage, it should still be going down steadily. With enough time (not dawdling) you shouldn't be at much risk of timing out if everyone is properly geared and playing well. The other day we had ATK down aura for second aura and got it to like 1% before timing out, with a WC 3. We were also mostly holding TP to 2k+ to avoid feeding too much TP, using full subtle blow WS sets/food, were using Minne, and had a WHM. The DPS check is not very tight on this fight.

Does anyone have any experience with the Ambuscade Great Katana and Samurai's Roll?

I hadn't thought about it, but I assume it still converts the Store TP from the roll into multi-attack?

Anyone know?

The GKT is interesting, but pretty flawed.

The best possible comparison is to imagine that you have 100 STP and 0% DA/TA (4-hit, 25.4 TP/hit) and no Ikishoten or not using Hasso with a 100% hit rate. Instead, you now have a 7-hit (1 WS hit for 25.4 TP and then 6 normal hits for 12.7 TP). So, you do marginally more white damage and feed more TP. You will not get to 1000 TP Faster on average, as each round returns the same amount of TP as it did with a different GKT.

Next, GKT is capped at a 95% hit rate. Doubling your number of swings doubles the odds that you'll miss a swing, which will force you to wait another round. So while you have an 86% chance of landing 3 consecutive attacks with capped Acc, you only have a 74% chance of landing 6 consecutive attacks, which means 14% of the time your 4-hit takes 5 rounds in the first build while 26% of the time it takes 5 rounds in the second build. So, without considering the interactions of multiattack, you're already getting to 1000 TP slower with this GKT.

It's hard to avoid DA/TA in gear, so what if you have some DA/TA? Well, your DA is useless now due to the 100% native DA rate and the TA is only 1 hit/round better than the DA you would have gotten without it. +1 reason you're getting 1000 TP slower than if you used any other GKT.

What if you have Ikishoten merits and are using Hasso? Any STP you have reduces the odds of Hasso Zanshin procs (to 0% when you hit 100 STP), so that's another reason you'll get TP slower with this weapon.

It's a white damage / TP feeding weapon for SAM. Otherwise you're probably better off keeping it as a Kaja Tachi. It might be the only weapon whose final upgrade makes it worse.

But figured while we are on the subject

The kaja version is still a better investment for ninja, correct?

Unless im misunderstanding that vid buukki posted, da/ta and such all roll before ambus effect, zanshin however rolls after so thats neutered. In nins case daken works but the oat proc on gkt sets your effective stp on that round to 0 so its nerfed hard at high stp

That's the primary purpose of the GKT and I carry one for applying Defense Down. If you want to have fun with GKT's Hybrid WS (the light-aligned elements), it's a strong weapon as well.

Beryllium Tachi can be used to also apply defense down as an alternative, and doubles as an option to apply silence via Tachi: Gekko (or bring a Levante Dagger).

Fenrir.Jinxs said: »

Depends on how you define "better". NIN Doesn't have stellar Great Katana skill to begin with, and the HQ version has higher accuracy/magic accuracy, so if what you care about is applying Defense Down, the HQ version > Kaja version.
