From a safety stand point, I perceive South East Asia as a safer travel destination not sure if that is actually true or not. on the other hand I actually do have things I would like to see in North Africa, such as Egypt, but that is not to say I could not learn of things in South East Asia that I would want to go see.
final answer south east asia.
As someone who lives in SE Asia, I'd say its pretty safe from a physical safety standpoint. The crimes they commit here are usually the non-violent kind, mostly scam and I guess in touristy area pickpocket and petty thief. Never experienced them myself in Thailand but have been taxi scammed in Vietnam.
Was scammed in Egypt and nothing else but that was in 2005 before the Arab Spring, I wouldn't visit there now with all the instability. The pyramids was kinda boring, but the Temple of Luxor and another temple we visited was rather interesting.
Kenya was nice though, but they will tell you to close all the blinds when your van is travelling through villages to avoid being targeted.
Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls (the town around Victoria Falls) was really nice, feels like half the people there were westerner though haha. You do see the deprivation of the local people there though. The Falls was breathtaking though.
Botsawana's Livingstone just on the other side feel like a proper developing town.
Did not get scammed or felt threaten in any of these 3 countries. Well I did get pressured into buying overly expensive hand made stuff by the Masai tribe but, could have said no, just didn't have the mental fortitude.
Funnily enough, the only place I've been properly robbed was in London.
Mountain climb or Box someone just above your weight class?
Box someone above my weight class.
Terribly afraid of height so I'd rather take my chance with the mercy of the other boxer lol. Also its what Oberyn would do!
Hoping not to derail this thread but since its over
