Okay, so I'm gonna make myself an FF playlist for my phone while I'm gone in Chicago. Need to make myself a mandatory track listing from FF4-10; suggestions?

I'm sure Aly and Aelius could use the help, but you'll have to take it up with them. Would I be against it? Nope. You did your job without bias, and that's all that can be asked of you.

Hmmmm, now the question is should I mash it all together in chronological order or split them between field and battle types?
For now I'm going to compile the most familiar and memorable original tracks from each game, and putting the orchestrated and piano arrangements on the side. I'll post my list when I'm done and I'll have you give your verdict of approval.
I think the Black Mages are overstimated. Just because they play Uematsu's songs, and he is in it too, doesn't mean they're as good. There are a few pieces I really like, but there are also a lot of arrangements that are terrible.

Some are a little too obscure or overly grandiose for me.
There's a thin line between being awesome and whaling incessantly on the guitar to the point of annoyance.
But alas, I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to these things, so I tend to strongly prefer original sound versions or orchestrated/piano arrangements with at least some artistic rendition rather than being a carbon copy with real instruments.
there are some songs that don't fit their style, and there are some that make me cringe (the ones they try to sing) but otherwise I feel they are rather decent at what they are set to do.
I prefer The Star Onions. I like The Black Mages, but I can't listen to their music over and over like others.
Mr.Goo singing Skies Above is awesome though.
Star Onions are a great example of what I mean by artistic rendition.
They take a track and make it their own rather than simply making it a +1 with better sound and real instruments.
I saw their performance in the 1st FFXI Fan Festival... I was blown away <3
bought their CD on the spot and love it, especially Rolanberry Fields and Sanctuary of Zi'Tah
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
