the only game meat i've had is deer, it was pretty good
Alligator really isn't game meat, there are farms that breed and grow them just for the meat like pork, chicken, fish and beef..
Deer is pretty good, but it's got nothing on alligator.. There's any number of vendors on the net that sell it, and specialty butchers will also get it at least occasionally, do yourself a favor and try it <.<
... Chicken and alligator can easily be overcooked... lol...
Who wants crocodile? They're not fatty enough.. Alligator.. Now them's good eatins.
animals that eat other animals are never that tasty.
Eat alligator and then tell me that... Alligator meat is very tender and juicy, with a good flavor.. It's often compared to chicken (which is so overused, but it's true in a way) it does have a flavor like chicken.. Only you can't really overcook it and dry it out, and the flavor is more intense.
Gator's pretty good. I'd say it's somewhere along the line of chicken and lobster. Nommalicious. Snake I hear is also pretty good, but I haven't attempted it, yet. Also... there is nothing good about Rocky Mountain Oysters.
I wouldn't try those or lamb fries..
Sorry, but I'm just not going to eat testicles.. There's a line even the primitive carnivore (which is quite prevalent in me.. I like gristle and suck the marrow out of bones) in me won't cross.. I don't eat internal organs and I don't eat reproductive organs.. Liver done right doesn't taste bad, but I hate the consistency.. I've tried a few others in my life, and just no.. Liver is as close as you'll ever get me to like an internal organ..
I honestly feel the same way Slip, but I also have a mantra that I'll try anything once. I tried them once... that's enough for me. They were all nasty and chewy. Blugh.

First I never said chicken can't be overcooked.. Chicken is VERY easily over cooked, especially the white meat..
Second I said 'can't really' which is "it's very hard to do so" just me summing it up in simpler terms. It is hard to overcook alligator (well I'm speaking of tail meat here, it would depend on what you're cooking, like any animal) the make up of the meat makes it difficult.
In fact, if you google overcooked alligator, you will get very few results.. Do the same with any other cut of meat and you will get tons of results. Alligator is far from an abstract meat, and it's only gaining favor over the last decade or so..

.... You act like I have never had or worked with alligator. I've seen it done due to the way people assume how it's like you said "Insert bold here". It's not so much the area you get the meat from, but the cooking method.
Like the guy above me posted... yes it can get rubbery that's when you know you over cooked it.

There's a lot of things I want to try, and will try if I'm drunk enough... Penis and testicles, as well as any strange act of frying up like cow uterus or placenta that might pop up, is just out of the question..
My mantra is "fry it and I will try it" but there is a line.. That line is drawn at reproductive organs.. That's just where people pushed the living on a farm mentality a bit too far and were trying to squeeze every nickle and dime out of their animal they could when they slaughtered it. I'm from the south, I've tasted my fair share of fried innards, but I've never liked a single one.
Gator is good. It's kinda popular in florida. When you over cook it it gets very rubbery. When it's cooked right.. omg so tender.
This made me go back and read what I originally said..
Anook, we're having a miscommunication.. It probably would have been better if I just said it's hard to cook until the inside is so dry you have to drink with every bite just so you can swallow it..
I said overcook and dry out (meaning the overcooking robs it of all moisture) I didn't mean it can't be overcooked and become tough.. Kind like squid, even in it's tough chewy state, it's still not dry..
I'm pretty tired and to be honest a little embarrassed I didn't pick up on this sooner, but I have a need to be humble and admit my mistakes when I make them, so you were right, and I was wrong.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
