It may not have been the same as ours, but basic anatomy really doesn't change that much, even over long periods of time. Reptiles today have tongues, there's really no reason to think that the tongue only appeared over the last 1/5 of existence of life on Earth.. Crocodiles have tongues (although I'm not sure if they can bite their own tongue) and they've basically been around since before the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Oh, I agree. Logic mandates that as long as creatures were concocted of multiple organs that surely there have been tongues. Every other being (aside from the more simplistic ones) have a tongue of some sort. But, my argument is there is no evidence that suggests that they had tongues. Logically, yes. But backed up with concrete evidence? Unfortunately, no.
I agree with that just that I have to assume they did.. So I'm left wondering how often they bit it, then from that thought stream came the thought of "Those teeth, wow, I bet that ***hurt"
Just my thought process.. I see a picture or something, then I have a thought about the picture, which leads to another thought, then another.. On and on.. It's very cumbersome and wish it didn't happen..
