Weird week.
A few days ago the tech guy from corporate comes in and rips out our router, saying we're replacing AT&T with Airespring as part of a renovation...
Says it won't be hard, just gotta call Marriott and get the new IP address approved and then he *** just leaves, saying we can conference call him in if there are issues...
This knocked our property management system offline, meaning we had to do everything by paper til it was back up. Apparently we didn't go about doing it the right way so Marriott gave us the run around on the tech support side. We were supposed to have a laptop interfaced with the new router for them to remotely network in the new router or something or other... Why the tech lead from corporate didn't stick around is beyond me.
So I spent the last two days doing all guest check ins on paper with pen, and my boss was really frustrated, sent some frustrated email to corporate.
Today's my first off day. I went out and voted and got some errands done, and in the middle of them I'm getting texts from someone who doesn't normally work today telling me the PMS is back online, and they're just trying to get everything situated... And my boss got fired...
I know it was over her bruising the VP's ego in that email, but damn. It makes no damn sense to fire a perfectly good and trained manager over something, it turns out, the tech lead didn't even have approval to do!
So I suspect next week I'll be working over time, and possibly getting teased with a promotion. But I've seen how this goes in the past for people in my position. It's always prefaced by, "Well, prove you can handle the position and we might promote you into it full time." i.e. Do all the work that the position requires for long enough at your current salary, and if you do it well enough we won't fire you.
Bout to be some some unbearable times ahead. Jesus.
