Uhh, cause of the 1066 invasion where the aristrocracy kept calling chicken, poulet cause they were French and it turned into poultry eventually. And then, boeuf and such. While the peasants were still English or whatever mutty mutt they were, and were calling it other things.

Basically no big event has caused a shift in language for us to need to change.

Makes you wonder what it's like in other languages, and if similar things happened.

I am fairly certain that no language has gone through the BS, trials, and tribulations that English has.

I vaguely remember something about English luring other languages into dark alleys and mugging them for adjectives. I think it was written by Terry Pratchett. It is not totally inaccurate.

The wait for Ever Crisis news is driving me nuts. The twitter has been doing a one tweet per day buildup for weeks now, first doing character intros, and now doing location previews. I just want a damn release date. (y'A')y

Gonna complain and vent a little. Worst kind of people:
1) Japanese journalists,
2) Politicians,
3) Journalists,
4) People who litter.

I use 4 different languages at various different levels in life, personally I rank English being the easiest to learn and the least confusing out of 4. I can promise you other language also has the history of merging with each others and become confusing as well.

In fact I was just complaining about it hardcore yesterday. Why are there thousands of terms used by Chinese speakers that are in fact Japanese, but they have slightly different meanings or changed the original meaning depending on context? It's confusing!

I also read that Japanese internet users invented "Pseudo-Chinese" by using Kanji to communicate with Chinese speakers, which is confusing as hell to read in both languages.

I am pretty sure there are plenty of similar examples in different languages. Since cultural interactions happen very frequently these days a language can easily change overtime as different cultures interact with each others.

Japanese is nightmare, and portuguese is complicated too

I consider English pronunciation as the worst thing that could possibly exist. I haven't found any other language yet that would have so many different forms of speaking the same letters. Extremely hard to learn.

Oh neat more south korean zombies. Zombies work in any language, honestly it works with zero speech. The actors really do zombie well in korean media.

How far in are you? What do you think?

I'm kinda torn on the game. I think they did a great job with the lore, spells, abilities, and some of the characters are just amazing. OTOH it's been a buggy mess for me, probably crashed 30+ times in my first playthrough, and some of the Act III combat is very out of balance. Act I and (most of) Act II were fairly decently balanced, but there are a bunch of fights in Act III (one in particular) where a group of like 30 mobs can just target one person if you get unlucky and wreck them before your turn starts. I think a lot of this can be resolved and even on my second playthrough now, it's interesting seeing all the different decisions and how differently things play out.

They also need to give more heads up before critical events that break quest lines. There are a handful of major points that when you complete a quest, it wipes out the ability to finish a bunch of others because characters leave or die. It's been a while, but I think Dragon Age and others gave you more heads up, BG3 basically only warns you between acts and by that point it's too late.

I like it though, I hope we see more of these DnD games come back.
