The most ironic part is the people who are going to be mad about it are the same people who keep voting for these things/people who push these things. The real kicker is it's supposed to augment some fund for phones for poor people or something... a fund that already gets a billion a year. So I downloaded like every classic game ever on emulators for my phone, including Pokemon Red version.

I've started putting together a competitive battling team on there that would have put my middle-school self to utter shame, which is saying a lot, because I was really serious about it back then.

I got my wife and son to get it on their phones as well (they both chose Blue version), but they don't seem to appreciate it as much as I hoped, and are making painfully slow progress through the game on their devices.

So I realize I probably won't have anyone challenging to battle against when the time comes. I'm even thinking about offering a cash reward bounty of some sort on Craigslist or something for anyone who can beat me in a Gen 1 pokemon battle, or perhaps starting up a competitive battling "league" of some sort on Discord or something.

Last season. The Kelvin Timeline is dead. They aren't even gonna make another movie.

Nah, with CBS' plan to have year-round Trek on All Access, Disco won't be ending until they have another series to replace it. Since they only have Disco, Picard, and Lower Decks officially in the works so far, we're probably getting at least a 3rd season of it.
And the Kelvin Timeline is Paramount property; completely unrelated to any of the TV series. Paramount cheaping out on actors' salaries and killing another film really has no bearing on any of CBS' projects.

The only way that Disco gets another season is if it overachieves in viewership, the first season was essentially free for CBS, they are having to foot the bill from now on and if they achieve the same dismal viewership/ratings this year that they did last year, its done.
