I actually like Lightning in that pic for fairly obvious reasons but I dislike the character practically everywhere else. Wasn't too impressed with XIII and never played any of the other games featuring her. I never finished XIII actually.

I just can't get into the character even though she's a bad *** character. This is all going by memory of what I've actually played, character development vs linear gameplay took too long and I never found any redeeming qualities in her. Even in her Dissidia appearance she was moody, rude, and unlikable and at no time has a moment of humanity that I can recall. EDIT: Before anyone asks, I prefer a female protagonist.
