Unfortunately many women would keep a guy right there in the friendzone through a hook.

By keeping it flirty/intimate enough that he thinks he has a chance, but without actually ever giving him any.
I mean it can happen in the opposite direction too, it's not just woman->man that the friendzone happens.

Short version: when they replace the main actor, the character (The Doctor, an alien) dies and regenerates into a new body, with the same memories and core, but different body/personality. Peter Capaldi, shown there, is the thirteenth actor to play The Doctor (but he's the "Twelfth Doctor" for reasons not worth getting into).
