So, I've never watched Dragon Ball Z, and know nothing of Goku beyond that he exists, and apparently can teleport billions of light years, to places he's never been, and yet they somehow wrote a show with actual fights about him?
Given the list of abilities people keep ascribing to Goku, how does he ever lose? Like, the whole problem of writing Superman in an interesting way is that he's so overwhelmingly strong that physical challenges are impossible (unless you bring along a bag of kryptonite). Wouldn't combat with someone so incredibly powerful be boring as hell? Just teleport your foe to Andromeda, problem solved.

Dragon Ball Z and forward is all about powerupping your opponent.
According to the show the technique has limits, he can't just go anywhere.
It's honestly one of his underused abilities, but to transport another he has to maintain physical contact as well. Honestly Goku is strong enough to utterly destroy the general form of Superman about the point in time he learns the instant transmission, probably even without moving him out of range of a "yellow sun." As for anyone else: pretty much the last two opponents that gave him ***were able regenerate from near nothing and had to be completely destroyed, and the one blew him up so... Ki can be used to inflict greater damage than normal with kicks/punches, it stands to reason that it can also be used to repel (in the form of a barrier) attacks or lessen the damage (sort of like having tougher skin) In this sense it is similar to Bleach and spiritual pressure. Let's also not forget that people in the Dragon Ball universe are weaker than Superman, they pretty much die when they get shot into the sun. Silver Age Superman could move a dozen planets by himself at once (he did this as Superboy). Superman is stronger than Goku but the reason we like Goku is because he's not always the strongest, not always the best at everything. We like him because he continues to improve himself and never gives up. i like how its wings open kinda looks like a moths
