FF8 is one of my favorite games, for many reasons.
A lot of persons hate on it, but I think a lot of it is that people are just jelly of Squall being an emo ***, and ignore the fact that Cloud was too. edit: that's my perception anyway, don't really want to get into an argument about it, maybe people don't hate on it as much as I think they do, meh.

I'll admit, I'm one of the PSX generation and started with 7, I blame my lack of keeping up with ***. (Although I played the hell out of Super Mario RPG before that).
I really enjoy the story of 8 as well, even with the weird plot, I've always enjoyed the idea of a mercenary academy.

8 was the first FF I played, blame it for my obsession for the saga!

I liked 8, but my faves were 6 and 9. After 6, FF got a little too technological which ended with 8, a subtle nod to this was present in FFX where most of the world of Spita denounced "machina" and chose to live a simpler life revolving more around magic than machines after the world pretty much crumbled due to over use of machina.

I think I downloaded one or two of them so I could put them on my PSP, regret it now since mine's now softmodded, but whatevs... I had the official guide too of FF8, but I lent it to a guy from middle school and he never returned it ._.

The technology is pretty much isolated to certain cities, at least in those 2 games. (granted in 7, they spread the technology to the towns, etc...)

My physical FF8 guide is the worst condition of all my guides, the cover isn't on, and it's all worn out. I think FFX is my next worse one, due to bent corners and a page fold or two, and a rip (and maybe a pen mark that I seem to recall, somewhere). But most of my guides are in damn good condition. I should take a picture of my FF8 guide later, it's seen it's better days, and I've memorized the majority of it. so far productive day...
installed a spam filter on the edge server for the emails. I'm watching the legitmate vs spam pie chart continue to look more and more like a blue/green pac-man. did some web dev stuff for a pissy old lady. I wouldn't want a remake of 9, would likely ruin the feel of the game.
