I'm Jane Eyre... Pewp.
I'm reading a book that has several main characters. So! I'm going to choose to be Daenerys Targaryen. If I was Dany, I'd
set the two smaller dragons free, go find my black dragon and make sure he's safe, NOT marry the creepy guy nor take for a lover the other creepy guy, and go find Jorah because he's the only one who loved her with no hidden agenda (even if they never get together, he won't intentionally give her advice that would harm her.) I'd let my Unsullied raid the pyramids that are suspected to hide the Sons of the Harpy and do what I got them for -- fight. Not shadows, either, take the fight to the Sons. They want a fight? Give them a fight. I'd also stop trusting the fancy old tea lady.
I'd go back to the previously liberated cities and handle them differently-- instead of liberating them and leaving them with no structure, leaving a power void wherein even worse people than the previous leaders can come to power, I'd liberate and either set up one of my own people as a "steward" of the city to rule it until I could come back and see how things are going (therefore ruling from afar while continuing my rampage), or I'd liberate it, gather up the innocents, and take them along to the next city, (therefore increasing the population of my kingdom.) The problem with the first is that I'd REALLY have to be able to trust the stewards (oh look, a good use for Jorah~), and the problem with the second is how to clothe, house, and feed several thousand refugees.
After I sorted out the problems of the Harpy Sons and the previously liberated cities, I'd try to set up something like how the Lannisters do it-- seven kingdoms, one king. Several cities, one queen. Let Cersei and the Tyrells argue over who gets King's Landing-- whoever wins will be the ruler of a pile of death and dust. Yay. Dany can stay where she is and rule there. She's actually needed where she is, she can actually make a difference where she is, and heading after the Iron Throne will only cost more lives.
OH! And if they want their silly fighting pits so bad, let criminals who are condemned to die fight in them. It would still be completely unnecessary blood and brutality, but if they are going to die anyways they may as well make what's-his-face shut up while they are at it. >.>
OOOH! And since what's-his-face can give her 90 days free of Harpy attacks, he clearly is one of the Harpies (likely a leader of sorts, if he has that kind of clout.) He's an enemy, kill him. >< Don't marry your enemies, Dany! Kill them!
I haven't finished a Dance with Dragons yet, but if I was in her dainty adorable shoes, that's what I would do.
