In Open Beta (phase 4) your progress will be saved and you can continue that character after the beta ends or you can progress on your old character (in beta + live) from what I understand

Old characters from 1.0 or characters created during phase 4 of beta. For all intents and purposes the game is live during phase 4 you just don't need to buy it yet if you didn't already have it.

   So many Mithra and Manthra! It seems like there are more customization options with Mithra than Elvaan. Did they add anything to the customization of Elvaan, or is it still the same as the first version?

I was actually tempted to make a manthra because they look so piratey
but alas..I'm going to make a boring ol' Daus character like I looked in 11. but I was kinda disappointed because it looked like the mithra characters were more customizable.

sticking with my cat, but will be making her pale skin a lil darker and pink hair will be orange like in my avi. had my card *** up on me when i first installed 1,0 so colors looked darker than they where

That's exactly was I've seen. There's more enticing, little extras that make me second guess which race I would enjoy more as a main. /indecisive I like my tall, willowy, regal Elvaans/Elezen though. When making my first character on XI, the first thought in my head was, "A giant pussy? Who'd of thunk it! I see what you did there, Japan! I see it!" It would be fun to be a Manthra as a female then act like a gritty guy as payback for the faux Mithra of FFXI for shits and giggles. Tempting! Tempting! /snickers "Joo give me gil, ladies!" /shake-a-shake-a-shake and strikes a seductive pose Hmmm...I foiled my own plan! Damn me! EDIT: I can't type for poo today. Weird day.
