My luck is also on roller coast.

The impressive progress I had by the monday and early tuesday went poof by being the entire week stuck in the same point.

This year has been a rollercoast of temperatures.

Since I moved back home, I never had so many cold periods through the year.

That is even more impressive as we are already at the end of spring, and normally spring is pretty hot here, but this year I feel like we just had more cold days than hot ones.

It's worth much more than kclub (unless you play rng only or something), people are just uniformed or lacks imagination. If I could pick one for the rest of my playtime its easily the ammo.

Thanks again for all the tips everyone, here are my updates and experiences:

Setup
  • THF/WAR (ML though not necessary) with free deed +2 gear and a quick empy+1 foot with other lv1 pieces for TH8.

  • NIN/WAR with TH4 (3 lv1 pieces, 1 herc augment)

  • Grabbed all the enhancements, had abyssite of discernment (I'd go crazy without it) and used any 3 TP-oriented atmas, didn't care much. Trusts were Mon, Joachim and Koru and that's it. Didn't summon more because entering Abyssea multiple times and getting Sakura and Brygid out was a waste of time.

Orthrus
  • I started with the longest one first, also because it seemed the most RNG with two mobs being very TH-oriented (Saruba and Ansareth).

  • I did all this with THF/WAR, and learnt to use the warp trick with Amarok to reset red procs (very easy to do surprisingly, and easy to dodge and spam warp even without flee).

  • I always went in with Tiger King Hide from AH and deleted it to keep it in my recycling bin as a buffer, and then my routine was always Ansareth > Dhalmel > Saraba > Amarok > [if it took a while, check back for Ansareth, otherwise] Orthrus. I procced TH10 for all NMs besides Amarok and I don't know if I was just super lucky but Ansareth dropped a hide 8/10 of the times, and Orthrus was almost always double-drop (thanks to his drops being super common rate).

  • One big preparation tip I had to follow was dumping absolutely everything in my inventory before entering Abyssea because you get a lot of rubbish, and if you try to chuck it you risk deleting your sand-caked fang / tiger hide in the recycle bin (which I learnt to use and it helped so much).

  • I ironically found Saraba to be more annoying than Ansareth, just didn't always drop the hide.

  • Overall this grind went super fast, moreso than Itzpapotl even.

Itzpapotl
  • NIN/WAR with this because 3 NMs require red proccing.

  • Routine was Granite Borer > Tunga > (through the maze) > Blazed Eruca > Itzpapotl. The worse part was the long walk through the maze, and the drop-rate for Eruca Eggs was very bad, sometimes I cleared out all the Erucas and an egg never dropped.

  • https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/M._Counteragent really helps for not having to wait through the chasms, I asked a friend to craft them for me because AH sold out, though I didn't always use them all since the chasm waiting also allowed me a break sometimes to do work on the other screen.

  • Tunga, though small, wasn't too bad to kill with the abyssite of discernment since if I wasn't sure if it was casting, I spammed moves anyway until I got a hint, which usually narrowed it down until I could spam it. It chainspelled a few times only, and was just a waiting game.

  • Itzpapotl had a rough drop-rate, because it's 'common' it was like 40-45% chance with TH4 and most of the time I only got 1, so it was somewhat slow.

Glavoid
  • NIN/WAR mostly for all the red procs. In the beginning I used to swap to THF/WAR for just Glavoid because it's super long getting there, but the % isn't a huge increase so stuck with NIN/WAR since the drop is 'very common', even with the jump from TH4 > TH10.

  • Once a routine was set it was quite easy going through them all, honestly preferred the journey to Attohwa because I didn't like the chasms. Going to the bottom-right took a while and was the least enjoyable phase.

  • Tried to keep on top with the timed NMs first from worm to fly, and they were usually the first I killed before doing the forced spawns. Drop-rates from mobs was generally good.

  • I'm still working on this one. 25/50, I wouldn't mind doing the rest traditionally but going to see if I find box-farming easier.

Considering the day before the same buyer bought an earring for 900m it's likely someone using a mule and the same 900m to manipulate the market value before it has a chance to establish itself. It was likely immediately back on the AH for like, 500-700 to see if someone took the bait.

The seller then bought the next one for 50m, and has basically zero AH history.

lol right, there was 0 on ah when i got it
i had it up for 995 for a little while, when i went to bed i put it at 900 woke up and it was sold

tried to buy another for 50m and boom got it

bought a ring for 80m

flipped the 50m ampulla and the ring and 250m gil for a kc

Wow, yeah, absolutely wild. I mean my mistake was assuming the playerbase isn't *that* hard up for a superitem, but wow I don't think we've had one of those jump to kclub levels.

Not sure if this is accurate since i haven't been in thr new zones, but probably this graphic from bg.

Also, this guy made a new web-based tracker.

Saw the graphic in the update, but that web tracker is absolutely awesome! Definitely bookmarked.

Fun facts that the NNI expert seems to be unaware of:
1-You can lock to 20 and jump one floor at a time to accrue ??? items while still ensuring the safety net of getting to a box+2
2-If you truly wanted weapons for pulse, you wouldnt go to floor 100:
Floors 1-19: 6/18 boxes, 7/18 weapons, rest armor
21-39: 6/18 boxes, 4/18 weapons, rest armor (1 sash)
41-59: 2/18 boxes, 11/18 weapons, rest armor
61-79: 5/18 boxes, 7/18 weapons, rest armor
81/99: 2/18 boxes, 13/18 weapons, rest armor (2 sash)

HNM's on 50+: Hard to tell since most of the information isnt filled in on what they drop (couldnt find any thing on JP wiki either), but gonna guess its 5/10 weapon (Faf sword, Behe Bow, Khim and Hydra do their weapon based on Cerb doing Sword, similar to sky gods doing their armor)

If you wanted weapons, you would lock to 60, bumrush to floor 40+ and spend as much time there as possible.
If you wanted to target the elusive sash to try your luck for an Orpheus, you might be better served locking to 40, and spending as much time as possible in 21-39 vs trying to rush to 80+ and using whatever time is left there.

All of this being said, other than farming Escha NMs, is this the best way for a newer 99 player to try and farm for a Pulse weapon?

The post right above the one you quoted literally states

Carbuncle.Nynja said: »
Absolutely not a good way to get pulse weapons. Would not recommend.

Meeble Burrows probably an easier option for new players with a semi-decent drop rate.
