You can add and reforge augmentations to your crafted equipment with the Temenos Furnace or Apollyon Furnace.
The process requires purification items and units corresponding to the relevant equipment.

Also, the augmentation can be transferred to a different piece of equipment.
In order to transfer the augmentation, trade both the original and new pieces of equipment to the Temenos Furnace or Apollyon Furnace after meeting the requirements listed below.
Note: The source item will be lost during the transfer process.
1.Both items are the same type of attire and for the same body part.
2.The target item is of higher quality than the source item.
3.3The target item does not already have an augmentation.
that's a direct copy from the update notes it's actually a surprisingly good idea to come from SE if it works as I suspect it does

Did you disable your post count because someone called you out?

Anyways If you're unhappy just move on, simple as.
1. No.
2. I have decided not to play FFXI until there is worthy content. Already said that several pages ago.

FF3 3D remake is pretty good but I am at the last dungeon and might need to grind 10 levels to beat it and it has put me off. I'm getting too old and impatient.

I'm referring to after the end of that era. Aht Ughan was peak challenge and enoyability, and self paced.

The game had you spending anywhere between 2 to 11 hours (unlucky 7th window pops for all 3) a day camping kings

(I will say SE has eliminated a LOT of the grind, however.)
You clearly don't play FFXI, I mean, are you actually serious?

Weeklies and monthlies are only a few years old.
People that want to think they are gud because of infinite playtime will do Sortie once per day and Limbus 10x a week for max chances. Average of 2.5h a day playtime just for those two events.

When Dyna D was released I was annoyed it had no longevity, and I still think its replay value is low, but in hindsight I think this is what should happen. One event should become something you do regular then fade into less relevance due to making it less essential so that you can focus on new content. The opposite is happening, they are forcing people to commit more and more time to keep up with their need to feel elite because of time commitment rather than challenge.

People like MT play 4-6h a day every day for 20 years and at the current rate of change will be doing 6-8 if they add more content and keep old content relevant. People stopped making aeonics after a few generally and then did more slowly over time, but with primes you could make yourself believe you need 6-8 and the grind is scheduled, you can't break SE's forcing you to do it to their schedule.
I guess if you started in 2011 you might think the "grind" is the same now. Lets compare apples to apples as best we can.

The most "elite" endgame item is now a Prime weapon, and it could take you 6 months of 1 hour daily grind to get one for yourself AND one for each of your group members.

The most "elite" endgame items in the golden era were Relic and Mythic weapons. I can't even calculate for you how many days/hours it took for a full group of people to grind ONE of those weapons for ONE player in the group.

There is no comparison. Today's FFXI is incalculably less grind-y than the original game. Personally, I don't care one way or the other. Either you enjoy the experience the game has to offer, or you do not.
We're not defining grindy the same way. The game forces you to play more hours per day/week/month than ever to keep up with the Joneses

I have used it for various attack buff stealing but it's quite rare. Even more so now with how short fights are. His whole sequence is probably 8 seconds? Fights usually last 15-60 seconds?
By Lilianna on 2025-12-11 15:46:25
I seem to remember using it on dyna windy D wave 2 boss at some point? Maybe? Idk
By iamaman on 2025-12-11 15:45:36
As much as I hate the Sortie/Prime grind, it's still considerably more fair than the 75-cap mythic/relic grinds. That whole design was just stupid, I don't know how they thought that was going to end up being anything other than a dramafest. The idea of getting 18 people to do content regularly for a long time so one person could get a weapon is wild.

What was the timeline for relics then, I forget? 1-1.5yrs?

What we have now is still a grind, it's just a massively fairer one.

It specifically applies to pets. No idea if that changes any BiS slots for pet jobs.

For BST/PUP its generally the best in the slot it's provided, for SMN they keep putting BPD off of those pieces so more of a grey area there

Dyna was end game content. I never bothered with the rest but I mean the kinda weeklies and monthlies you have in RoE that FOMO you for silver vouchers etc. yes. A far different game.

Weeklies have always been part of the game.... as far back as CoP. Now if you didnt find those pieces of content rewarding or engaging enough to do, that's up to you, but they were certainly there.

ENM's, bi weekly Dyna, Exp quests, Eco Warrior, so on.

The better argument is that Weeklies are more FOMO than ever before, as of the past few years.

Also do my eyes deceive me? Does the MNK/BST/DNC etc. set just straight up say, "Damage Dealt +%?"

As in, all damage you deal? All of the time? o.o!

All damage your pet deals, yes.

Alternative thought to the 0/1. Maybe instead of getting the ???, its finding the mob that IS ITG instead.

It's definitely not this. We actively sought out and killed 4 ITG in Temenos yesterday, and our 0/1 did not change, nor did we spawn the ???.
By NynJa on 2025-12-11 14:42:54
It must be a day ending in “y”
By MelioraXI on 2025-12-11 14:36:42
In order for a ??? to spawn, it's my understanding that a normal enemy would show up as "Impossible to gauge" when you /check it. Does that occur regardless if you're engaged the enemy?

I dunno, that body piece for brd looks pretty nice.

Does it though? Compared to Ashera:

Acc-3, atk-3, STP-2, DT-1 (in the new body's favor), Meva+4, MDB+2, Resist Paralyze-90, and...crit rate?

I don't think if I had the new body, I would actually wear it, even if it were 100% free. I mean, maybe I would...but I don't think I would.

I guess if you don't have Ashera it's nice, but in terms of "all available options", I think the body is very meh (pending augs).
Revelation Platemail vs. Ashera Harness actually:
Stats spoken in what stats are over/under.
Revel Plate: -52HP -44MP +37DEF +17 STR, +5 DEX, +7VIT, +7AGI, +9INT, -2MND, -3CHR
-3acc, -3atk, -3racc, +42ratk, +42macc, +33evasion, +4meva, +2MDB, -2STP, -90 Resist Paralyze, +8%crit rate, 1 more -DT%

Ashera Harness: +52HP +44MP -37DEF -17STR -5DEX -7VIT -7AGI -9INT +2MND +3CHR +3acc +3atk +3racc -42ratk -42macc -33evasion -4meva -2MDB +2STP +90 resist paralyze -8% crit rate, 1 less -DT%

So, as you can see, you take more damage when you wear Ashera Harness, so its only viable considerations vs. Revelation is a fight where paralysis is common/can't be chump blocked by Divine Caress paralysis potion strat. The 2STP likely isn't affecting your time to TP. The raw stat increase puts their accuracy at parity, with Revelation having higher attack and the crit rate, to boot.

Granted, it's not like the white damage increase is gonna blow your socks off, but Revelation Platemail is handily the superior gear piece. You better wear it if you get it.

With the exception of Absolute Virtue, no content was particularly difficult after we figured it out.

I mean, it seems like they've hesitant about pressuring players to do tough fights since the PW debacle. In 2016, when they did decide to return to the idea of "Apex Encounters", they explicitly decided to give them cosmetic rewards only. As best I can tell, the game has had difficult encounters, but not many people want to clear for a cosmetic. And as easy(?) as the V25s were, it was difficult enough to cause a fair share of rage-quits.

This is just my limited new(ish) player's perspective. Could be wrong.
If you go back through the Odyssey thread you will find a ton of complaining about the V25 fights being impossible, about how the auras are literally RNG on whether you win or not, how if you don't have the same six people attempting the same fight for weeks continuously you will not win. I think the perception of difficulty in the game's content shifts both as our understanding of the content grows, and as we acquire new gear which did not exist during the content's design and release period.

No one will make NQ

It's definitely going to cost a lot upgrading +1 to be eaten by +2
When Escha Ru'Aun gear was still relatively new/top end game gear it was bad that they never let you upgrade NQ to HQ too. It would have been fair for them to have let you.

Wording suggests you can transfer augmented number directly to the higher tier at only a cost of consuming the lower tier item
Maybe I missed that in the notes

But if thats a viable option, its a good one. It means they listened to the feedback of the dyna weap/necks.

It's always wild to me when people say nothing in XI is hard, literally everything in the game is hard. Some of you have never played other mmorpgs.

Even just gearing up well enough to do the harder stuff can take years.
I've never played another MMO, I've always seen people say WoW and FFXIV are easier and trusted it but nothing in FFXI is as hard as it was at certain points I think. Einherjar wasn't being done with significantly less than 18 characters (not many boxed then) for a long time after it was out.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone cares how/why anyone else play this video game. It's a VIDEO GAME. If you play it, I would assume it's because you enjoy what it has to offer. If you are playing it but not enjoying it, that's on you too.

At the end of the day, it's no one else business but your own.
More scary is people that are enraged and feel attacked by your decision to not play the game.

What if even the NQ costs loads and higher tiers obscenely more but you can't afford it for a long time? Gonna be costly. This is always how necks should have been since NQ/+1 are dirt cheap.

do you still get the 138 defense from null masque or did it get nerfed to 0 defense?

They dedicated a entire set to sword enhancement spell damage? Glad to see RDM finally getting the buffs it so desperately needs.

rdm is at a great place right now, some might even say its op. Don't think any buffs are needed without offsetting the job balances.

The sword enhancement set might make rdm op though, might see a nerf coming. Rdm VD odin solo or anything that can be cheesed with 0 dmg enspell would be abused.
THing is.. it might be difficult to actually use the new set for 0 dmg enspell strats.. The set has a freaking Ton of STR/ATk.. to the point that you could start hitting for non-0 damage with a 1 dmg weapon. this is apparently already a problem for ML50 RDMs on VD Odin HTMB. So... while I think the set is an excellent addition to RDM enspell TP sets in general.. it could actually be counterproductive to the no TP feed enspell strats.

I usually agree with you on just about everything, but be real here. It was mentioned in one month's version update 3 years ago and it's not commonly discussed. I think there are probably quite a few people who weren't aware it was possible, so the thread could be extremely helpful.
