Our thread title is misleading and most people won’t go back and read the whole thing (most likely) so I’ll just say this.
We regularly clear 9 boss, often times with naaks, aurum, and H chest as well. Midcore doesn’t really do us justice ;) we will probably do more HM pretty soon as most members have made multiple S5’s at this point and the banked meso are starting to dwindle.

Yup I posted the same in the Limbus thread. At the time I made the post in this thread I was waiting for a weekly reset to make my confirmation for myself.

It's not true, no. You have to open them.
The upgrade rate is way higher if you open with points than pop with a key, so the play is:
* Pop chests with keys until you've floored their cost
* Start farming 20 points and spending it to pop 2 coffers.
* Use keys on the coffers and hope for Aurum
* Hope the Aurum isn't a mimic
Alternatively, convince a few friends to do suboptimal segment farming runs with you and pop coffers with points to spawn aurums, then pop the aurum with a key. This is why I ask these questions! Makes sense to me (and I have floored chests in all three areas already without actively trying) - thanks!

I'm looking at some of my recent Apollyon logs (my Temenos logs are unreliable because I started opening chests in different towers out of curiosity and it didn't show up in my logs) and from what I can see, if you get 5k units in a chest, it's not possible to get 5k again in that tower. The 5k/guaranteed matter would have to be in one of the other three towers. Anybody seeing something similar? Jakey's suggested it can be in the same tower.

I could make a note each time I open a chest so I remember where it was. I don't do Limbus daily or even weekly, though. I might just roll a d4 each time and hope for the best.

The only "useless" piece is the feet. For what it's worth, after being useless for so long, the feet suddenly become the BiS macc piece at +4, but only at +4.

1. Which job has the best AF+3 set (moot IMO).
2. Which job that I play decently is missing stuff.
3. Which job do I hate bringing to Omen.
4. Which job do I have the least of. This is situational depending on the age of the character.
If you've already established your character, chances are you already ruled out 1 and 2, quite possibly 3 since you'd have a surplus of cards from doing Omen. In which case, go with the 100 deeds as it gets you 2 1/2 months closer to another free ADL and PW pop (and more free Venus/Mars orbs), its also guaranteed 3 Abdhaljs Seals. But if you're truly insistent on using the AF+3 Kupon, get the one that you have the least AF for, then you can store it on slip 25 and never use it since you've already established you dont play the job at all.
If you are not an established character: Get the 100 deeds of Heroism and get yourself 2 1/2 months closer to Deed Vouchers +2, Deed Tokens +2, Monberaux, Martial Treatise KI's to have more merit WS available, etc. But if you're absolutely, truly dead set on the AF+3 Kupon, this will depend on what job(s) you've decided on as some AF+3 is 4/5 dogshit (NIN, SMN, DNC, MNK might be in that list), but you'd likely be best served to just get the set of the job you play most as most jobs have 3+/5 good pieces at +3
I mean the deeds are definitely better if you want to shorten calendar time (only way possible). The coupon will definitely save you more man hours played, so the argument that take the things you can't change has validity.
To make an analogy:
Deeds=buying a horrible house in a great location (can tear the house down and rebuild)
Voucher=Great home, suspect location (probably more appropriate to say great price, decent home, but you're stuck with the lousy commute).
Agreed a lot of the AF is "meh", and its totally silly to use the coupon for stuff you'll never use.

Is this true? It's been a while since I did this, but I don't remember mimics counting towards total chest count. ...oh lord, is it not?

At least for me I've long since gotten to the point where the matter is barely a concern anymore, the units are the clear limitation now. I hope they introduce a way to exchange matter for units in the future. My expectation is that the NMs coming in - January? I know it's "soon" - will drop large amounts of units.
Then again, my expectation was that the currently existing NMs would drop literally anything...

What is this vanabout coupon anyway?
At 700 Plaudits you can pick a coupon that gives you a full set of AF3+3. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss the best sets and some of the post above have been excellent.

Either way, the chests can take significantly longer than the NMs if you're just doing the THF lockpicking method. The spawn rate of the next level chests is much higher if you use izzat instead. My suggestion if doing this solo is to full-clear the first floor, and maybe a little bit of the next floor time-depending. Use the izzat you earned to open the chests/coffers on the first floor, and then try using a key on the aurum if it pops. After you've burnt through your izzat, use keys on any remaining chests hoping to get lucky.

Im sorry to say - Nintendo has pulled the plug on Commando Dogs vs Alien Slugs... Seems that when Nintendo created Nintendogs, they patented every breed of dog alive, along with breeds not yet made. The good news is that we all have a commando dogs inside of us, they can never take that away... the bad news is now every cent I make goes to Nintendo.

if it has a WSD piece, it gets a use since +stats and more WSD
if it was a good TP/idle/tank piece, it gets a use due to nice injection of meva + 1 or 2 points of mdb
if it was already a high macc piece, it gets a use due to higher stats/macc
everything else is kind of moot since no traits got increased, enmity values didnt change, just raw base stats like hp/mp and a bump in eva/meva. So most jobs will see atleast 2 pieces in their set get bumped
