Yes, Utsusemi is practically mandatory for all front-lines on this fight, or at least it was back in the day. That might not be true with modern gear.

You'll likely also want a strategy for dealing with fetters. It doesn't take much of a nuke to kill them but you do need elemental damage of all elements. I remember doing this in a group once as SMN/SCH and my /SCH nukes could one-shot them.

Keep in mind, WHM is one of those jobs that has a lot more room for personal touches than most jobs and not everyone agrees on what's optimal. (e.g. I'm extremely anti-Raetic Rod, but most on here seem to love it.) So some of your sets may look significantly different from mine, and still be perfectly ok if they cover the important stats.

Yeah they are currently advertising XI right in the launcher what with the latest tier of the XI alliance raid being added (albeit it's been out for a while now). I have chatted with a few people who expressed interest or have just started out of curiosity. Lot of people still getting filtered by just installing, setting up account, getting controller to work, figuring out the menus, etc. But there are a handful who make it through.

The biggest thing stopping a lot of people from trying though, in my opinion, is that the free trial for XI is very short (and unavailable if you ever briefly played in the past, no matter how short) and you basically have to commit to a sub long before you have any sort of familiarity with the game. I've talked about this with friends before, I think a neat idea could be having up to like level 50, nation Rank 5, and original+RotZ zones only be free. Hell, maybe even 75 cap if you wanna be really radical. Just impose low gil cap limits, AH limitations, lower craft skillcaps until you sub... etc. Basically taking a page from XIV's free trial.

I dunno, just spitball thoughts I've had for a while based on comments I read on other areas of the net. I'm sure it would get abused some way or another lol.

They're totally different models, no idea what you're looking at Jinxs xD. One has a sword and shield with armor and long hair, the OG superman. Degei/Aita/Hades is just a floating hume with wings. I don't see any similarities in their model at all besides the fact that they float.

Aita is a recolor of Hades 1st form from SoA.

There are some similarities between Hades first form and Kamlanaut, though. They're both lanky boys that float in the air, and they both change the elements they absorb based on the stance/TP moves they use.

But ultimately Kam is larger, lankier, and has completely different animation set.

FFXIV players are tremendously frustrated, willing to give other games a shot now more than ever. and honestly, where else are brand new FF11 players going to come from? it has always been a very niche game within FF franchise and MMO scene too. I could be wrong but I just don't imagine many other people suddenly deciding now is the right time to try FFXI.

Meanwhile I'm at 5 kills on this guy, no drop whatsoever.
Normally I'd be leaning to say you have to do something outside of the fight, like trading items to a ??? or npc, but the fact there's no new dialogues mined from the patch would lead me to believe that's not the case.

Anybody got any clue so far?
I tried trading the Kam sword and shield to the new Moogle NPC in Metalworks but nothing happens.

It feels like there is an influx of newer players believe it or not.
