You know, it might be interesting to wear a T-shirt of your main class and SJ in their acronyms.

At worst you'll look like a geek and nobody will get it.
At best you'll find a fellow FFXI player and perhaps meet a new friend.

I can beat taht. I got a T shirt printed for my GF two years ago for Xmas. On the front says "I'm a Taru!!" Back says "Suzzles (insert picture of her character underneath) British Geezers of Ragnarok" No longer in BG but we were at the time, she still wears the Tshirt these days, even wore it to a presentation she did at Uni >.> lol

I've had the urge to put a few smooth pebbles on my boss's desk at work in the morning. When he asks me what they are, I'd say "Traverser Stones". When he asks wtf that means, I'd reply "It means I have to leave before noon."

My biggest "omg I play too much" was a year or 2 ago. I woke up groggy and tired before work. Was gathering my things to head to the office... and I checked to make sure I had my purse, my car keys, my phone, and sanction.

a few years ago when i was really sick at work a co worker asked me if he could do anything for me, like bring me a tea or sth. then another co worker answered for me "the only thing that can cure this geek now is a potion". i had to laugh about that the whole day.

*takes a deep breath*

Since I started playing, no one calls me by my real name anymore. They either call me Setsuai or Setsy or Sets. Just like I refer to their in game names. I also met someone that had just started playing and I can never remember his real name.

I refer to my kids as my tarutarus.

Whenever I'm on messenger, I usually type /l, then when I realize I'm on IMs I hit esc and accidentaly close out the window. Have had to explain that one too many times.

Everyday, no matter what topic my fiance, my friends and me are on, we always find a way to relate it to FFXI or bring it up randomly. Like me and my fiance were talking about another game, and suddenly out of no where, my fiance says "I need to update my gear for blu."

We play so much, my kids recognize our characters and they hate goblins just as much as we do.

Whenever one of our group has a crazy idea irl, we usually respond with <insert crazy idea here> <No, thanks.>

I, too, have mindlessly looked to my lower left, looking for my 'irl' compass.

There's so much more, but if I keep going, the whole thread would be filled lol

Oh, and I have played various other games, getting to a part of the game, and trying to figure out how to get up on a ledge only to remember about 15-20 minutes later that it has a jump button.

me and my brother will say <Do you need it> very often, verbally

Also in my art history class we had to know what sibyl was, which was easy because of how much I played lol

Whenever I hear the word "Argus" in real life I instantly perk up and twitch my right index finger (pushing the macro I had for engage <stnpc> +Sidewinder on SAM/RNG). It's sad.

And I have also suffered from wondering when my Signet would wear off... and checking the in-game compass in real-life... and going to my room to change jobs...

How often, would you say, do you actually hear the word "Argus" in real life?

Oh wow...

Okay, my husband and I both play and our kids know our characters and will /cheer for us while we fight. If one of us die, our 3 year old will /sh for a raise.

We talk in {Auto translate} in texts quite often.

We each call each other by our in-game names a lot.

I frequently refer to him as 'My Taru' IRL.

When my dad calls me his first words are: "Are you busy in your game? Or can you talk".

/p /l are regular things in my chat windows, my friends expect them. And escape and AT are evil anywhere else except ffxi.

I'm currently trying to talk him into dressing as our characters for Halloween this coming year and meeting our LS in New Orleans!

I've described my plight to several of my friends and on occasion they say "Argus" to see my reaction.

How about substituting gil in for money? "I don't have enough gil"
I'm sure many of us have done that

I recommended FFXI to all of my students. Told them that it inspires creativity, builds communication skills, teaches leadership skills and problem-solving skills that aren't exposed to many til much later in life.
