I mean, it's just for fun lol

And a lot of the time the trashy/promiscuous stuff is something of a veiled criticism of the things that our society values. Drag queens and kings also get people thinking and talking about LGBT topics. Talking leads to education, which is the first step to advancement.

In other words, it's okay for me to go around stealing stereos while toting around a bucket of Church's in Blackface, because it'll get people to talk about racial topics?
No. I mean, do what you want lol but that analogy doesn't fly.

Drag is an illusory representation and interpretation of gender culture. It depicts men and women of all ages and ethnicities. Not all drag artists are part of the LGBTblahblah alphabet soup, and not all drag deserves the criticism that ends up targeting the art as a whole.

Good drag artists are entertaining in the way that a lot of comedians are entertaining. I don't know what kind of unskilled/unimaginative show you saw, but it would have to be pretty uninspired to be on par with your racism analogy.

At any rate, I has a test tomorrow. :3 Night peeps^^ !

I never said I didn't see how it could be entertaining, but I think it's pretty (hopeful? gullible? stupid? Pick a word, I can't think of one) to think that it has any positive progressive impact on public opinion.

But on the other hand, they shouldn't have to stop doing it just because some ignorant people are going to judge the entire community based on one thing. If people are ignorant, they're just gonna find other reasons to hate what they don't like anyway. I used to think drag was weird and couldn't understand why they were doing it. But after being exposed to it more and more, I got used to it and started to develop an appreciation for it. Speaking as an artist, to stifle that creativity...would just be tragic. If someone told me to stop painting, and I stopped, I'd lose a big part of what makes me, me. I'd lose that outlet, that passion, that identity... and I'm sure drag queens must feel the same way about drag.

It depends on the setting I guess. Our show publicizes several information sources and serves as a place where a lot of people come together to show support for our local LGBT community.

In any case, any negative response to drag comes from those who already have a poor understanding of the culture (which most people understand has nothing to do with what it means to be gay/etc.), but will hopefully learn to open their minds a little when they see all their friends having fun. :)

And going to sleep for realz now, brushed my teeth and everything. D: lol

I perfectly understand that part. It just frustrates me that drag queens always seem to end up being "the voice of the gays."

Just seems counterproductive.

The people that are coming to drag shows aren't the people that need reaching/convincing/whateveryouwanttocallit.

The people that need to be reached are the ones who hear about them on the news, or see them in the paper, and suddenly think they just saw one of the horsemen of the apocalypse ride past their door.

Except the horseman is a drag queen and it's coming for their children!

It's not about how productive it is. They're doing what they love. It'd be hypocritical for me to judge them when I wouldn't want others to judge me. I guess I can empathize with them easier because I'm a woman? Like, I'm trying to understand your frustration but I think there's a bit of a wall here because... well, gays and lesbians don't get the same treatment. I guess I subconsciously don't feel as threatened which is why I support drag queens? *shrug* I do agree that the people that go to drag shows aren't the people that need the reaching out to though.

Anyways, I've stayed up longer than I should, night guys~

Oooh I'm surprised that yes bar is almost nonexistent... awesome!

Should be a button above the Insert Key called "Prt Scr" or "Sys Req", Ina. When you press that, it takes a screenshot (and acts like that copy function). Just open up MS Paint after hitting that button and ctrl-V and it should paste the screenshot in, and then you can just save it as a jpeg if you don't mind the file compression (otherwise it's gonna be a huge filesize).

Zeph is my hero...

I always knew it was something to do with the print screen key, but nobody would ever say anything about pressing print screen so I've always been like "where does it go!! do I have a folder someone full of random screenshots that I don't know about" XD

I dunno how! I stopped playing last year lol xD I made a new character in the summer but the whole Abyssea thing just completely went over my head. I think the new "thing" is Voidwatch now? If you have any specific questions I'm sure some of the handsome gentlemen here would be more than happy to help you out :P

Lol xD the Print Screen key may not always work, as a forewarning. If the game has its own screenshot function it'll just save it directly to the game folder. Or if you play the game windowed you can just click on the desktop with the game window still in view and Print Screen, and it'll still copy it. You might just have to crop things out.

Off to class now QQ
