My mom/stepdad tried to get me to sleep with a hooker to turn me straight.
Wow... that is just incredible...
It makes an awesome story, though.
I'm a really good storyteller IRL, so when I tell the whole thing with details and all people are just like O M G M I N D B L O W N.
Who are you talking about... because thats deffinetly not you XD Not wanting to be disowned by your parents doesn't make you a coward and no reason to beat yourself up.
Ina is right. There is often no point in challenging certain people when it comes to religion; all it does is cause drama for everyone involved. Your choice to remain silent is perfectly valid - especially because you are living your life according to your own wishes and beliefs.
This discussion is especially relevant to the LGBT community. There are many among us who feel that the number one priority in life is to be 100% open about our sexual orientations - to the extent of telling everyone and anyone. Although I agree that honesty (especially self-honesty) is crucially important to emotional and psychological health, sometimes it just goes too far. There are people who look down on others for simply refusing to go around spreading drama; these same people are the ones who say things like "you're not gay enough" or "people are only bi for attention," demanding that all gay people (or all lesbians, all bisexuals, etc.) act a certain way. It's kind of disgusting.
For me, coming out meant really getting to know myself. I act the way I want, in accordance with my feelings about who I am. I tell people I'm gay if I freakin' feel like it. Don't think I act gay enough ? Tough ***, I probably like *** just as much as (if not more than) you. :P
tl;dr live your own life and don't let other people make you feel bad. ;D
Pretty much what Carrelo said I find it funny how the LGBT comunity is supposed to be open and accepting yet you have some of those (insert naughty words here) that feel like if they cant read you like a stereotypical book then somethings wrong. I hate that whole you look to gay or not gay enough thing its like uh gay means you like the same sex not what shirt your wearing.
Judging people by something like how they dress or their look is always a bad idea... like this guy that takes the same train car as me was wearing a light pink shirt the other week but that doesn't make him gay (I wish). My one friend in high school was another good example as she always dressed hard core goth to the point where I knew a couple other people who admitted that she terrified them... In reality there was nothing scary about her (unless you pissed her off then she would probably destroy you) and was one of the more down to earth people I've ever met.
It's always the innocent looking ones you have to watch out for... everyone always thinks I'm innocent when they meet me because I'm kinda shy but once I get to know them a bit a few dirty comments later they have no idea who I am anymore XD
watching 'our america with lisa ling: pray the gay away?' its pretty sickening. but right now theyre on a part about a summer camp just for gay christians.
one of the guys there said that his church kicked him out because he was 'too flamboyant'.
@liela- i havent told my mom about my agnosticism, i think that'd be harder to tell than my homosexuality
It was a while before I told my parents, I didn't know how they would react, I lived in an apartment building owned by my father, cheeeaaaap rent, like $500mo for 2br, huge place.
I wasn't in a rush because it was none of their damned Odinsbustersword business. Far as they knew I had a room mate whom they never got to meet. When they did my father was disappointed hoping for grandkids, moms was cool as cool.
That was my parents, non religious folk, If you ever feel the need to come out to them I hope it all goes well for you. :3
You didn't ask my opinion but DAMNIT I wanted to post! D:

I'm kinda curious, is it something they tried to talk you into or did you just kinda come home and find some unknown woman on your doorstep?

My stepdad told me we were going out to lunch. Instead of a restaurant, we pulled up to our country club. I'm like OK, there's a restaurant on the golf course so maybe we're going there.
Instead of that though, we pulled up to the hotel part of the country club, and there was this slutty woman wearing what was obviously a blonde wig aannnd yeaah...

Just curious to see how many of us actually play FFXI. **Now, let's try to keep this clean, please don't respond if you have nothing nice to say.** :] Don't be shy, speak up! :D
EDIT: You don't have to be gay to post in here, if you want to be apart of our conversations.. feel free to join in! Don't be shy, we don't bite.. well some of us do! :] Anyyyyyways~! This thread has become a home to many from the LGBT community & even some from the straight community who are open minded and enjoy chit-chatting with us, :] so let's keep it drama free, we deserve a place where we can be ourselves without being made fun of/harassed.
