The CPI is calculated based on an unknown set of items from the AH, ideally those of a relatively fixed value. Probably something that sell at a fairly high rate as well.

The most likely reason for the huge jump is someone has accidentally overpaid for one or more of those items in the last day or so.

Gogo ECON! It wasn't just a class for sleeping after all!
