the fact that NA has been overlooked for a fanfest but yet, once again Tokyo gets a Vanafest. I cannot afford to spend the 6k to go to Tokyo to see this. Maybe SE really does dispise of NA players? Rant done! Thank You!

It's really just because this years item is gonna be a permanant Kupofriend Ring effect, and SE wants all the JPs with Maat's Cap. ._.

But seriously, it can be blamed more on that SE doesn't care much about FFXI anymore and it would likely be much easier to setup in Tokyo than overseas...as a Japanese born organization. That being said, as I recall EVERY fanfest has been held in NA. I haven't looked it up now, but every single one I remember has been here.

So the JPs deserve at least one before the game loses quite a bit of players to XIV...just to enjoy the whole hubbub of it, I guess.

The JP has always had their own Fanfest. They were just never promoted on our western end. Why is Square promoting this on the USA and European sites I don't know.

You know why they do it in Tokyo this year ??

Because JPs in fact don't quit the game because XIV is released, while (as far as i know) alot of NA players say *** it i'll quit and wait for XIV.

Each year they have a VanaFest in tokyo, and a FanFest in California.
they announce each in the PoL viewer, because they normally reveal cool
stuff, *new jobs/new avatars for expansions etc.* this year will probably
have some cool revelations as well, so they announced it on main page.

Vanfest is in Japan, while Fanfest is in the US.

Remind me again what is held in the EU, I forgot what they call it?

It would be nice if they would offer the same rewards/gifts/etc. for all of the players in all regions.

I for one, would love to get a Kupofried's ring

It's their festival, it's obvious they are going to promote it in the country that gives them the most revenue.

Obviously...

My point was, there is no need for NA players to QQ over the Vanfest (which is always held in Japan) being held in Japan when they have their own festival.

If the OP was EU based then I would understand the complaint.

Edit:

Crumpetfest?

Not bad, but a I would go with something like 'Windurstian Tea Party' or something like that (but only really works if it is held in England)

Close, it's more a question of "Where is it cheaper to host this?"

Personally, I'd like to see Vanafest/Fanfest items show up as Tier5 prizes in Mog Bonanza.

Ninjaedit: EU players need not fret, for the NAfests have all been overhyped buckets of suck anyway.
You get to meet the dregs of FFXI society, listen to question panels where you won't get a straight answer but might get a cheese sandwich, and spend the entire time looking for that 1:1000 person who isn't a complete waste of oxygen.

I wasn't really talking to you lol. Normally that's evident from the fact I didn't quote your post.

Though I would like a EU festival. It's the same as the black mages concerts, we get nothing like it.

Makes me wish I lived in the USA sometimes.
