FFXI Official Strategy Guide - 2004

I laughed when I found this, along with my FFXI Atlas. I was flipping through the pages and decided to post some stuff that no one really cares about, but I find funny!

This is also the same strategy guide book that recommended subbing black mage for summoner due to the higher MP boost...

BEING IN A PARTY

As a Black Mage, you will find that it isn't too difficult to find a party. Most people are fully cognizant of what a Black Mage can do to monsters. In return, the group must protect the Black Mage and shield him or her from monster agression.

Back when that was written the part about BLMs in PTs was true. Nobody TP burned in '04.

At least it's good to know the game has evolved in some shape and form over the years. Good to get a few laughs to see what was considered reasonable or standard back in 04 too haha.

I remember someone in my Creative Writing class in HS bringing the strategy guide in as extra reading.

Pretty sure I saw BST/PLD as a suggested job combination in there.

I have that guide, and the atlas.

There are a lot of errors in the guide, like RDM getting Dia III as a normal spell, and crafting mistakes too.

The Atlas is the ***though, I still use it from time to time, mostly the Kazham areas.

I believe their reasoning was: Not only do you get auto refresh, but you get weak *** cures and a slight defense increase! Paladins, our warriors that can cure. YAY!!!

I have the book as well, I used to read it everyday when I just started, and soon I realized I pretty much had to do the opposite of everything it said.

This book tells people that rdm can melee, tank and heal simultaneously, I think we know why they didnt make a second.

they also suggested drk/pld, pld/drk, drg/drk, rdm/smn and i wanna say bst/smn or smn/bst "so you can have 2 pets"

got a lot of good LOLs and wtfs from that guide.

Think I remember finding a spring 06 one back a home a couple weeks ago
