I'd have to politely disagree, if you wanna know the best video game music of all time, it's Super Castlevania IV. Hands down. No music before or since has been so appropriate for the game itself. And it sounds *** great, even to this day. I wish I could find a full orchestral version of this ***somewhere...
I think the Zelda game does have an awesome, or at least a heavily nostalgic tune.
However, I have serious issue with the series. How many 8 yr. old boys does it take to rid the land of Ganon? And seriously, does he ever grow up and just stay that way? Supposedly, every Zelda adventure features a new kid who just happens to be named Link, dresses in green, is an elf, and talks to fairies.
I understand wanting to keep the series young for new gamers but, really? Is it that hard to let the guy age a year or so?
Oh! Learn some new moves, damn it! That jumping thrust was old back in the days of Zelda 2. >.>
Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, Secret of Mana, US FF2 and FF3, Actraiser, Chrono Trigger, Shaq Fu, FF Mystic Quest, Breath of Fire Series...so many more I can't think of off the top of my head. They don't make great games like these anymore!
OMG I loved Actraiser! I still play that, actually, on my trusty ZSNES. ^^
And someone else that admits to liking Mystic Quest?! Holy ***! I tell peeps I enjoyed that game and they're like "Oh my god, that game was like soooo stupid, it was like a little kids game, or for retards that couldn't play the real game"...
My response? "Bite me". I played II and III, too, but I still enjoyed Mystic Quest, they're not mutually exclusive lol
Haha yeah I admit to liking it...it takes a lot for me not to like a FF game. Crystal Chronicles is the only one that I HATED. And I just finished Actraiser on my Wii! XD
The only music from current games that I actually enjoy (From Xbox/PS2/Gamecube onwards) is the music for Lost Odyssey. Nobuo did the music, as is immediately obvious to anyone who has played the game.

Played Y's III a little, too (heard from friends that the series was awesome, just couldn't get into it) as well as Lagoon, enjoyed it but couldn't get too far for some reason (been years, so don't remember why...)

On the subject, can anyone recommend a good PS1 emulator for PC? Or (and this is a stretch, I admit) a good TurboGrafx 16 emu? Haven't found any good ones, been looking off and on for years...
I have one of those multi-input boxes to switch through them. I have hooked up atm: PS2, 360, Wii, SNES, Genesis, and NES.
My power strip is going to blow up soon...
I do, too, but it's eaten up by DVD player, cable box, media center, PS2/Xbox (got one of those multi-cable things), and the 360. The 360 and DVD are HDMI, but to get through to the surround sound receiver I had get the optical cables all hooked up through the switcher...
Ditto on the power strip, I have a Monster power cleaner strip, maxed, plus another strip....and that's just behind the TV. Then there's the chargers for the different batteries, my aquarium and all that ***...multiple computers running at all times...
My electric bill is like $200 a month, with the air running like $300 plus. I really need to pare some ***down... >.<
Edit: My ps1 was hooked up cuz it was modded and I had a ***ton of copied games :D
I still need to get that HDLoader thing for my PS2, a friend of mine's got that and it's sweet as hell...got like 100 games saved right to his console, and no load time is freaking amazing lol
