Hello,
I saw a video of Arebati V20 2 KI and 2nd KI using sch, brd, geo, rune, cor and rng. Does anyone have gearsets or a breakdown of that strat for 2nd ki?
We have been trying geo, brd, cor, rng, rune, pld with no luck, the rune is taking quite a bit of dmg and pld is running out of my while healing rune while pld holds add.
If using pld to hold add should pld be in idle set while holding add or engaged set on add?
Thanks for any info.

v20 I find to be more annoying then v25. The RUN will be feeding TP if engaged and needs to be engaged for parry procs. In v25 the RUN hits for 0.

You might want to try PLD tanking disengaged and have the RUN hold the add.

PLD should never run out of mp, ever. Do they have ballads? How many? They also have chivalry, at least once but possibly 2-3 of them, plus vile elixirs of their own, and if desperate they can get 10 more from the rest of the party.

RUN shouldn't be taking too much damage either. I make phalanx a priority for recasting, always keep either valiance or vallation up at all times, maintain runes, and then barblizz once phalanx is back up. With all those buffs, plus some carols from the BRD, the damage is quite minimal.

If close enough, the RUN could tank/face Arebati while engaged on the add, but it's been so long idr if the add is nearby for that.

That's close enough for the RUN to engage the add but face Arebati for parry procs without tp feed then.

I've never done PLD on that fight, but like Maletaru said, MP shouldn't be an issue. Between empy head +3 and Flume belt +1, that's 10% MP converted from damage, ballads from the BRD, RUN can hit them with a refresh, etc.

One thing I'd suggest is your RUN take a look at their fast cast set. If they're getting gear-locked in a squishy fast cast set, that may be contributing to your PLD's MP issues.

This is what I wore. I wouldn't claim that it's the absolute best set you can ever wear, but it works for me!

I wonder how the KI1 setup for V25 would do as a single kill group for V20?

On V25 KI1, I went DNC and would have adds spawn on me, hit Fan Dance, pull away, let RDM bind then get back to killing Arebati.

Interesting can you post anymore info on this melee strat assuming this is 1 KI fight?
Thanks for any info.
Curious about the wars setup, using Shining One?

War or sam or Drg with Shining, Pld whm brd cor is my usual setup for RP purposes. Not supposed to kill it, but gets quite far. 6th slot can be anything, and can be done with 4 and no Pld too.

You can’t/wont kill it outright with a melee setup but melee KI1 can get you down as far as 50-60%. I think my groups clear was 64 or 59.

We have been able with drh, dnc, smn to get the add to pop on 1st KI but it seems as soon as the add pops all hell breaks lose and we die so we are having issues getting it down past 74 not sure what it is.

If you're not doing TP denial melee strat, all of its TP moves are going to cause you to hit a wall:
AOE Terror
AOE 4 buff dispel
AOE Amnesia
AOE Encumberance
AOE full dispel

You have to get it to 75% to pop the add then use that as your TP battery.

Video below is v25 but the idea is the same - when the add pops, RDM needs to control it (bind, sleep). Our group was DRG DNC as the DDs, so DNC was second on hate list. Add pops, DNC has fan dance at the ready and can safely take a few hits thanks to fan dance/a good DT set. RDM binds, entire party moves away, and RDM spams sleep 2 until it sticks. re-bind/re-sleep as needed as you take arebati down as far as you can. This is TP-denial strat (SMN, BST for TP suck). Add as TP battery can be done as well but its a very different setup.

This is exactly how we did it, and we got to mid/low 40s on v25. We were also saving specific jobs for KI2, which for a v20 single-KI fight, you wouldn't have to, which is what I was curious about.

Even v20 may be a bit too much for a melee single KI kill though.

IIRC, there was a JP group that did V20 KI1 with melee setup. Forget his name, but they used a RDM with Mandau/Mercy Stroke in the comp, WAR tanked Arebati, and TP on Raaz while WSing Arebati and resetting its TP.

You probably could now too, with gear creep/higher average party MLs etc. Years ago when my static was spamming V25 KI1 Arebati (this was early after release), our best run we got it to 40% (and intentionally held it so we wouldn't push to 39% for the 2nd add). This was pre prime, so didn't have additional WS (Ruthless Stroke/Diarmuid) to counter the WS wall

DNC DRG (Empyrean) WAR (Shining One) RDM WHM BST
BST would Killer Instinct (plantoid) prepull > Leave > Bestial Loyalty > Slug > Corrosive Ooze > Leave > Fatso Fargann > Unleash > TP Drainkiss spam. Box Step 10, Dia3, Haste II/Haste Samba. Yes, no songs rolls or Geomancy, just straight DPS. We pulled Arebati down the stairs closer to the middle of the arena for space.

DRG/WAR/DNC would burn any SPs it could at the very start, during Unleash spam (assuming it didn't conflict with KI2). The key was Angon (after Ooze wore)/Warcry/Tomahawk/Climactic window; we would specifically announce when these were ready and do most of our burst damage here. Normally would bring Arebati to around 79%-83% within a 90 seconds or so. DRG would Super Jump somewhere before 75%, so that DNC was intentionally #2 on Arebati's Hate list (WAR will always deal most damage, or at least did back then with Mighty Strikes WS spam). At 74%, DNC would Fan Dance/Chocobo Jig and run up the stairs, as Raaz would beeline directly to DNC, and RDM would follow to apply Bind/Gravity/Slow/Para. Geriond was the RDM, and iirc, he would intentionally Immunobreak the Raaz but never land sleep on it, so that the next Sleep after the subsequent aura would make it land faster. This was during Yaegesumi, so the DPS was halted for 45s anyways.

After aura wore, rinse repeat. We would see 1-2 more auras during the fight, which would break the Raaz's debuffs off, but he had a long run to get back to us down the stairs. We'd quickly proc Arebati with crit WS, then RDM would regain control of the Raaz. The BST (and sometimes RDM) would join with Tauret and Evisceration only to remove aura (Gleti's gear idling gave him enough TP). However, now with primes, even a RDM could melee and contribute damage. Can't remember if ours did with Mercy Stroke.

We got so good at doing this, we eventually had like 3 minutes left with Arebati @45%, so we intentionally died so weakness would last less time for the lobby job change for KI2. I'm sure you could drop maybe the BST for PLD or something and straight tank it, but we were doing 2KI V25 so we needed PLD for second fight. Or bring a buffer and just re-apply regularly. We had to deal with full dispel occasionally because we didn't have someone who could play a good SMN at the time as a true TP reset strat, because he was also our Empyrean DRG.

We made sure to only use our buffs/debuffs in sync when we were ready to push damage, then just banked on RNG not hitting Glassy Nova. We got unlucky occasionally, but at least without a BRD or COR there were very little buffs to lose (Haste, Haste Samba, Berserk/Warcry, Killer Instinct), so the dps loss was not as significant. BST was applying TP Drainkiss every 30 seconds. Didn't prevent every TP move, but every little bit helped. I can't recall if we did Subtle Blow+Auspice sets at some point just to reduce a little bit of the TP feed. We may have.

On V20 you only have one add to deal with, so as long as you can control it and quickly remove the aura, you might be able to power through it and just straight kill it melee style. Arebati's non-threatening from an offensive perspective, so you never really need to worry about dying besides from the Raaz. Encumbrance, Amnesia, Dispel, all annoying debuffs to contend with.
